Our Wallace 2 years old had an emergency where he was having trouble going to the bathroom on day 1 the next morning Wallace was in distress alert. We went to Palmer Sarah MCCarter was attending to Wallace My family and I went into a private room 25 mins later Sarah comes and tells us Wallace is OK we got the catheter to his bladder and we are draining his bladder. He needs to stay here for 3-7 days and we have to change diet we did. We were so happy no more than 10 mins later Sarah comes back in Wallace had died. He died from stress. We were and still are in shocked. Something didn’t seem right. I had a 350 bill told me to pay or Wallace will not be released to us it was horrible. I ended up getting his medical record. It turns out that they have Wallace dexdomitor which is a sedative he had an allergic reaction and Wallace died of respiratory and cardiac arrest. They also were giving him a antisdan to reverse the reaction. We were lied to in how he died the communication was far from right. Nobody wants to take any type of accountability. We are so heart broken for our loss. Wallace was our daughter’s cat who brought her so much joy and happiness. Wallace was her support cat for panic and anxiety. We want Justice for Wallace and we will not stop fighting until we do so. We love you Wallace Please be careful going there. They might be good for general things for animals but certainly not for emergencies

Welcome to Palmer Veterinary Clinic
Palmer Veterinary Clinic, located at 6274 NY-22, Plattsburgh, NY 12901, serves the pet community of Plattsburgh and the surrounding areas as a Pet Hospital. The available customer reviews present a stark contrast in experiences, with one detailing a tragic outcome during emergency care and expressing serious concerns about communication and accountability, while another highlights the gentle, patient, and compassionate care received during the difficult process of pet euthanasia. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Palmer Veterinary Clinic based solely on these two customer testimonials, without including any external information or personal opinions.
One review recounts a distressing experience involving their two-year-old cat, Wallace, who presented with an emergency related to urination difficulties. The following morning, upon Wallace exhibiting signs of distress, the owners sought care at Palmer Veterinary Clinic, where a staff member named Sarah McCarter attended to him. According to the review, the family was informed that a catheter had been successfully placed to drain Wallace's bladder and that he would need to stay at the clinic for 3-7 days, along with a dietary change, which the owners complied with. However, within ten minutes of this positive update, Sarah reportedly returned to inform the family that Wallace had died, allegedly due to stress. The reviewer expresses shock and disbelief, stating that "Something didn’t seem right." They also mention receiving a $350 bill and being told to pay it for Wallace to be released to them, which they found "horrible."
Subsequently, the reviewer obtained Wallace's medical records, which revealed that Wallace had been administered dexmedetomidine (Dexdomitor), a sedative, to which he reportedly had an allergic reaction, leading to respiratory and cardiac arrest. The records also indicated the administration of antisedan to reverse the reaction. The reviewer alleges that they were misled about the cause of Wallace's death and that the communication from the clinic was "far from right." They further state that "Nobody wants to take any type of accountability" for Wallace's death, emphasizing the profound heartbreak and loss experienced by their family, particularly their daughter, for whom Wallace was a support cat for panic and anxiety. The review concludes with a plea for caution to others considering Palmer Veterinary Clinic, suggesting they "might be good for general things for animals but certainly not for emergencies."
In contrast to this deeply concerning account, another customer shared a positive experience related to the euthanasia of their dog, Trixie, who had been through a difficult period. This reviewer expressed gratitude for the support received from Palmer Veterinary Clinic throughout Trixie's final weeks. They specifically praised "Every vet, vet tech, staff that we encountered" for being "gentle, patient, and compassionate" with both Trixie and themselves. The reviewer highlighted Dr. Glenn, who was present when they made the "heartbreaking decision to euthanize," for making the process "as comfortable for all of us as possible." The reviewer concluded by stating that they "will never forget the kindness he extended us during the worst moment of our lives" and affirmed their intention to "continue to recommend to anyone who asks for a vet recommendation."
These two reviews paint a starkly contrasting picture of the services and care provided at Palmer Veterinary Clinic. The negative review raises serious allegations regarding emergency care protocols, diagnostic accuracy, communication with pet owners, and accountability in the event of a tragic outcome. The specific mention of an allergic reaction to a sedative and alleged misrepresentation of the cause of death are particularly concerning. The reviewer's strong warning against using the clinic for emergencies should be noted.
On the other hand, the positive review highlights the compassionate and supportive care provided during the sensitive process of pet euthanasia. The gentle and patient demeanor of the staff, including the veterinarians and technicians, and the efforts made to ensure comfort for both the pet and the owners during this difficult time, are commendable. This suggests that Palmer Veterinary Clinic may have a strong focus on providing empathetic and supportive end-of-life services.
Based solely on these two reviews, it is difficult to ascertain the typical environment of Palmer Veterinary Clinic. The negative review focuses entirely on the alleged medical mismanagement and communication issues and does not describe the physical setting. The positive review mentions the presence of "gentle, patient, and compassionate" staff, implying a caring atmosphere, but does not provide details about the clinic's facilities or ambiance beyond the positive interaction with the team.
Similarly, the reviews offer limited information about the full range of services provided at Palmer Veterinary Clinic. The negative review mentions emergency care for a urinary obstruction and the use of sedation, suggesting that these services are offered. The positive review explicitly mentions euthanasia. However, information regarding routine wellness care, vaccinations, other types of surgeries, dental care, diagnostic capabilities, or other potential services is not detailed in these accounts. The negative review's suggestion that the clinic "might be good for general things for animals but certainly not for emergencies" implies that they do offer routine care, although no specifics are provided.
In terms of features, the positive review highlights the gentle, patient, and compassionate nature of the staff, particularly during euthanasia. The willingness to make a difficult process as comfortable as possible for both the pet and the owners is a notable feature. Conversely, the negative review raises serious concerns about the clinic's handling of emergencies, communication practices, and accountability in the event of adverse outcomes. The alleged misdiagnosis of the cause of death and the billing situation described are significant points of concern.
No information regarding any promotional offers or specific pricing for services at Palmer Veterinary Clinic is mentioned in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to include any details about discounts, special packages, or the general cost of care based solely on this information.
In conclusion, the available customer reviews for Palmer Veterinary Clinic present a mixed and concerning picture. While one review praises the compassionate and supportive end-of-life care, the other details a tragic outcome during emergency treatment, alleging negligence, miscommunication, and a lack of accountability. These contrasting experiences suggest that the quality of care and communication may vary significantly depending on the circumstances. Potential clients should carefully consider these accounts and seek additional information from other sources or by directly contacting the clinic to make informed decisions about their pet's healthcare needs, particularly in emergency situations.

I also bought food that is very healthy and authentic. They love it! I am a new resident and so fortunate to find Palmer Veterinary Clinic. They continue to take good care of my kitties!
