Run away from here. This is the worst place where incompetent doctors sit. I went to this clinic with a request to vaccinate my cat and give me a certificate for a flight to another country. To which this clinic said that they would help me with this issue. Great, and we happily agreed, but if we knew that they do not understand anything and do everything poorly. First, they sent us to the office and said that there would be an examination, asked to immediately pay the bill, this bill included a doctor's examination, vaccinations and a certificate (total amount of $ 338.34), which we did, immediately paying for their services. Then the doctor's assistant came and wrote down the answers to the question, after that the doctor came in and examined my cat for one minute, looked at her ears and just felt her, and for this I paid $ 73.65. I would rather examine my own cat. Then her assistant came with her assistant and gave all the vaccinations to the cat. After that, they gave me an invoice and the long-awaited certificate, which had a bunch of mistakes. There were mistakes with the cat's age. In one paper they wrote that she was 2 years old, in the second - that she was 2 years and 4 months old, and in the same paper below they indicated the age of 2 years and 6 months. It's terrible, they gave me all these papers and that's it. I began to understand them and ask questions, but I did not get answers to any of my questions. And it was obvious that they did not like all this. In a word, they do everything without delving into your problem, the main thing for them is money. The certificate they gave me was without a signature and USDA seal. I found out that it was supposed to be there 3 days after they gave me this certificate, and when they gave it to me, they did not say that it was supposed to be there. I had to figure it out myself. They are very frivolous and the main thing for them is money.

Located at **27341 Ortega Hwy., San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675, USA**, **Ortega Animal Care Center**, featuring veterinarians **Matthew Brehmer, DVM and Lynlee Fluent, DVM**, operates as a "Pet Hospital" offering a range of services designed for animal welfare. Beyond typical veterinary medical care, the facility also extends its offerings to include pet boarding and grooming, aiming to be a comprehensive center for animal needs. For appointments and inquiries, the center can be reached at **(949) 298-9196** or via mobile at **+1 949-298-9196**.

Environment and Facility Overview

As a multi-service "Pet Hospital," Ortega Animal Care Center likely features distinct areas for different aspects of its operations. The environment would typically include a reception area for client check-ins and inquiries, examination rooms for veterinary consultations, and potentially separate areas for boarding and grooming services. A veterinary facility of this kind generally maintains a functional layout to accommodate various animal sizes and breeds, with spaces for pet containment, treatment, and recovery. Given its comprehensive offerings, the center aims to provide a centralized location for diverse pet care needs.

The facility's environment, like any public service, is shaped by the interactions between staff and clients. The front desk serves as the initial point of contact, handling scheduling, billing, and general inquiries. For clients utilizing grooming or boarding, there would be dedicated areas for these services, likely with specific protocols for animal drop-off and pick-up. The overall aim of such a center is to provide a comprehensive and convenient solution for pet owners' veterinary, boarding, and grooming requirements.

Services Offered

Ortega Animal Care Center presents itself as a broad-spectrum animal care provider. Based on the services described by customers, the key offerings under the "Pet Hospital" category and related services include:

  • Veterinary Examinations and Consultations: This fundamental service involves assessing a pet's health, diagnosing issues, and providing recommendations for treatment. Clients have noted receiving physical examinations for their pets as part of their visit.

  • Vaccinations: A crucial preventative health measure, the center provides vaccinations for pets, including those necessary for international travel certificates.

  • Diagnostic Testing: The center offers diagnostic services, which, according to client feedback, can involve various tests to determine the cause of a pet's ailment.

  • Procedure-Based Treatments: For certain health issues, the center performs procedures aimed at resolving the problem.

  • International Travel Certificates: A specialized service for pet owners requiring documentation for inter-country travel, which includes health certifications and vaccination records.

  • Grooming Services: Including baths and haircuts, this service caters to the hygienic and aesthetic needs of pets.

  • Boarding Services: Providing temporary accommodation for pets, this service offers care for animals when their owners are away.

Features and Perceived Characteristics

The operational characteristics and perceived features of Ortega Animal Care Center, as drawn from customer feedback, present a mixed picture:

  • Service Scope: A notable feature is the center's attempt to be a one-stop-shop for pet owners, combining veterinary care with boarding and grooming. This comprehensive approach can be attractive to clients seeking convenience.

  • Billing Practices: Clients indicate that payment for services, including examinations and vaccinations, is often requested upfront. The cost of services, particularly diagnostic tests, has been a point of concern for some clients who perceive them as expensive or excessive.

  • Diagnostic Approach: There are client observations that the center tends to recommend a large number of expensive tests for diagnosis. Some clients have reported finding diagnoses more readily or affordably at other veterinary clinics.

  • Communication and Responsiveness: Client experiences suggest challenges in receiving clear answers to questions and perceived lack of apology or concern from staff regarding issues like errors on documentation or missed vaccinations. This points to potential inconsistencies in customer service and communication.

  • Attention to Detail in Documentation: A significant concern raised by a client was errors in official documentation, such as varying ages listed for a cat on different parts of the same certificate for international travel. The lack of complete information (e.g., missing signature and USDA seal) on critical documents was also highlighted as an issue, requiring clients to independently research necessary requirements.

  • Perception of Care and Compassion: Several reviews indicate a client perception that the staff and veterinarians may not consistently demonstrate a high level of care or empathy for pets or their owners. Terms like "incompetent," "don't care," "attitude," and "dishonest" have been used by some clients to describe their experiences, contrasting with the fundamental expectation of compassionate animal care.

  • Grooming Service Accuracy: One client reported a specific instance where a requested bath and grooming resulted in only a haircut, despite explicit instructions. This points to potential issues in service delivery accuracy within the grooming department.

Promotional Information and Client Experiences

While an establishment like Ortega Animal Care Center would promote its range of services and the expertise of its veterinarians, the most telling "promotional" information comes from the unfiltered experiences of past clients. These experiences are vital for potential new customers to consider:

  • One client's experience with a cat's international travel certificate highlights significant issues: "Run away from here. This is the worst place where incompetent doctors sit. ...The certificate they gave me was without a signature and USDA seal. I found out that it was supposed to be there 3 days after they gave me this certificate, and when they gave it to me, they did not say that it was supposed to be there. I had to figure it out myself. They are very frivolous and the main thing for them is money." This detailed account of errors, perceived lack of thoroughness in examination, and inadequate communication regarding crucial travel requirements serves as a cautionary tale for those with specific needs.

  • Another comprehensive review outlines issues across veterinary, boarding, and grooming services: "In my experience and opinion this veterinary, boarding and grooming services establishment does not offer quality veterinary or grooming services and offer little customer service. Additionally, they do not care about your pets or you, have an attitude and are dishonest." This client cites examples of perceived over-testing for diagnosis, an unresolved issue with a cat after an expensive procedure (which another vet later fixed), and a specific incident of miscommunication and perceived dishonesty regarding a vaccination issue. The grooming service was also critiqued for failing to perform a requested bath. This client's strong conclusion, "I and my pets and wife are so glad we have gone back to my old vet who is farther away but totally worth the drive-and they offer good service, are honest and care," speaks to a significant dissatisfaction with multiple facets of the center's operations.

These direct client testimonials, while representing individual experiences, offer a perspective on the operational quality and customer service of Ortega Animal Care Center. Potential clients are encouraged to consider these varied experiences when making decisions about their pet's care at this facility.

In my experience and opinion this veterinary, boarding and grooming services establishment does not offer quality veterinary or grooming services and offer little customer service. Additionally, they do not care about your pets or you, have an attitude and are dishonest. 1) We brought our dog in and they could not diagnose without running a lot of expensive tests. They routinely want to run many expensive tests. We took dog to another vet and he diagnosed immediately without all the tests. We took our cat in for an issue and after an expensive procedure, they could not fix. The other vet fixed after the same procedure. 2) I called in the other day and spoke to Katie at the front desk with a concern about the vet not giving or mentioning a vaccine that was overdue. She said it was a mistake and didn’t apologize or seem to care at all. Katie then told Michelle Beck, Director of Operations, that I was upset and cursed at Katie, which is a complete falsehood. Concerned but not upset and never cursed. When I told Michelle that, she said she heard me curse because she could hear the call from her office six feet away from the reception desk, even though it was not on speaker phone. These people are not honest or truthful. They simply don’t care and do not provide quality service or customer care. 3) When we took our dog for a bath and grooming, they gave her a haircut and not a bath. They said they made a mistake even though we asked and ordered a bath. They didn’t seem to care and didn’t apologize. Again, bad customer service, have an attitude, they don’t care, and not quality services. I and my pets and wife are so glad we have gone back to my old vet who is farther away but totally worth the drive-and they offer good service, are honest and care.

We have been taking our Aussie to Ortega for the last 6 1/2 years. The doctors, techs, and administrative staff have supported us, and loved our sweet pup for every minute of it. We were able to leave her in their care with the confidence that she would be attended to like a member of their own families.

Our dogs are very happy with Dr. Brehmer and the wonderful employees there. The dogs have been boarded here for years now. When our regular vet retired we decided on Dr. Brehmer. You won't be disappointed! We love Danielle. She is the best! The prices are reasonable, the care is top notch and our dogs love Dr. Brehmer!

So disappointed. Thought they were pet friendly and know how to deal with pets. But I guess not.
