Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic Introduce
For pet owners in Frederick, Maryland, and the surrounding areas, Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic, located at 1550 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702, USA, serves as a local "Pet Hospital" providing veterinary care for their beloved animals. Easily reachable by phone at (301) 662-2322 or their mobile number +1 301-662-2322, the clinic positions itself as a accessible option for local users seeking medical attention for their pets.
Based on the available customer reviews, Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic presents a mixed picture of its services and overall experience. One long-time pet owner expresses significant satisfaction, highlighting a positive transition from another clinic due to a considerable difference in cost. This reviewer praises the clinic as a "Family," emphasizing the knowledgeable and friendly staff and their dedication to ensuring the health and happiness of their "fur babies." From routine procedures like nail trims to addressing issues such as anal gland problems, this feedback suggests a caring environment and a commitment to comprehensive pet well-being. The reviewer explicitly recommends the clinic for those seeking affordable veterinary care with a genuine concern for pets and their owners.
In contrast, another customer review raises concerns specifically regarding the clinic's pricing transparency and initial examination costs. This review mentions a $95 charge for the first exam and a mandatory $88 deposit required when scheduling the appointment. While acknowledging the informative and welcoming nature of the staff and the veterinarian, the reviewer deemed the initial exam price unsustainable. Furthermore, they noted a lack of clarity regarding what services were included within the initial exam fee, leading to an additional $40 charge for a service they had anticipated being part of the initial consultation, which they subsequently declined. Although the deposit was reportedly applied to the total cost, the reviewer still considered the overall expense high and advocated for improved price transparency.
Considering these varying perspectives, local pet owners exploring Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic as their "Pet Hospital" should be mindful of both the potential for affordable and caring service, as well as the need to clarify all associated costs upfront. The positive review suggests a clinic with a friendly and knowledgeable team that prioritizes pet health, while the more critical review points to potential issues with pricing transparency and the overall cost of initial visits.
As a "Pet Hospital," Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic likely offers a range of essential veterinary services to address the health and medical needs of pets. These services typically include:
- **General Wellness and Preventative Care:** This would encompass routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention (flea, tick, heartworm), nutritional counseling, and weight management advice.
- **Diagnostic Services:** Including physical examinations, laboratory testing (blood work, urine analysis, fecal exams), and potentially imaging techniques such as X-rays to help diagnose illnesses and injuries.
- **Medical Treatment:** Management of various medical conditions through medication, therapies, and supportive care for both acute and chronic illnesses.
- **Surgical Procedures:** This could range from routine surgeries like spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue or orthopedic surgeries, depending on the clinic's capabilities and specialization.
- **Dental Care:** Including dental examinations, teeth cleaning, and potentially extractions or other dental procedures to maintain oral health.
- **Emergency and Urgent Care:** Addressing immediate medical needs that require prompt attention, although the availability of 24/7 emergency services might vary.
- **Other Potential Services:** Depending on the clinic's resources and focus, they might also offer services such as microchipping, behavioral counseling, euthanasia and cremation services, and potentially referrals to specialists when necessary.
The positive customer feedback alludes to services like nail trims and addressing specific health issues like anal gland problems, indicating their capacity to handle routine and some non-routine care. However, the available information does not provide specific details about the clinic's environment, such as the comfort and cleanliness of the waiting area and examination rooms, or the availability of specialized equipment. Local users might find it beneficial to visit the clinic in person to assess these aspects and ensure they align with their expectations for a "Pet Hospital."
Regarding features, the positive review emphasizes the "knowledgeable and friendly" staff and the affordability of their services compared to a previous clinic. These could be considered key features of Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic. However, the contrasting review suggests a potential area for improvement in price transparency. A desirable feature for any pet hospital is clear and upfront communication about the costs of services to avoid unexpected financial burdens for pet owners.
Currently, there is no explicit mention of any promotional information for Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic in the provided reviews. Veterinary clinics sometimes offer promotions such as discounts on first visits, vaccination packages, or seasonal specials (e.g., for dental health month). To learn about any current promotions or special offers, local users are advised to contact the clinic directly via phone or inquire during a visit.
In conclusion, Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic in Frederick, MD, functions as a local "Pet Hospital" offering veterinary services to the community. While one customer praises their affordability, caring staff, and comprehensive care, another raises concerns about pricing transparency and the cost of initial examinations. Local pet owners considering this clinic should weigh these perspectives and are encouraged to communicate openly with the clinic staff regarding service costs and to potentially visit the facility to assess its environment and services firsthand to ensure it meets their needs for reliable and trustworthy pet care.

Dec 03, 2024 路 April R.Charged $95 for the First exam, First visit. Don't get me wrong, they were very informative and welcoming, but that price is not sustainable. They also made me put down a $88 deposit when scheduling the appointment. They are not transparent about prices, Services that I thought were included within the initial exam were not included. Thus, I would need to pay an extra $40, for which I turned down. Overall very nice staff and vet, but need to work on price transparencies Yes, I did see the deposit go towards the total cost. Its is still high
Mar 11, 2024 路 Apellonia WilliamsI lost my senior cat Confetti last November. She was adopted from Animal control. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was treated here until her health was no longer sustainable. They were always kind and very caring through the entire illness. I was gifted 2 kittens Oreo and Socks a few weeks ago and they had a great first visit. A week later one of them hurt their paw and had to see a Dr. They checked him out and reassured me he would be fine. Just needed a shot for the inflammation. They have the best staff of any vet office I鈥檝e ever used. Highly recommend this office!
Apr 27, 2023 路 Terry FoxThe owners are so nice and helpful. They always help me out to the car. Their prices are soooo much better than other stores nearby.
Feb 09, 2025 路 Tracy FranckI cannot recommend Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic enough! Since adopting my two cats from the shelter last year, this clinic has shown nothing but exceptional care and compassion. From routine check-ups to any concerns I鈥檝e had, the staff has always gone above and beyond to make sure both my furry friends and I are comfortable. What really stands out is their genuine love for animals and the personalized care they provide. They take the time to explain everything clearly, and I always feel like my pets are in the best hands. I鈥檓 so grateful to have found such a dedicated team of professionals to look after my cats. Thank you, Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic, for everything you do!
