I have nothing but great things to say from just the initial visit. I am moving my dogs over from Banfield (no bad experiences just the long drive) to Onalaska Animal Hospital as soon as their Wellness plans end. The moment my pup and I walked in the atmosphere was bright, warm and welcoming. The reception from their Frost Desk associate just set the positive tone of the appt from the get-go, and the place is so clean. Once in the exam room and Dr Nicole and her vet technician Julia came in, they both sat on the floor and did not make the appt feel rushed as we discussed Penny, her past and also any previous health concerns. Penny got a lot of treats and love from them and she settled nicely. The Technician Julia wanted to steal her away! Right there, I knew I made a great choice in where I will be bringing my babies. I know they will be treated and loved while in their care as if they were their own dogs. I cannot wait for the rest of my pack to be coming here for care.

Based on initial feedback from pet owners, Onalaska Animal Hospital appears to offer a positive first impression. One reviewer highlighted the "bright, warm and welcoming" atmosphere upon entering the clinic. The reception by the Frost Desk associate was noted as setting a positive tone for the appointment, and the cleanliness of the facility was also commended. During the examination, Dr. Nicole and her veterinary technician Julia were praised for their gentle approach, taking the time to sit on the floor with the pet and ensuring the appointment did not feel rushed. The reviewer also appreciated the treats and affection given to their pup, Penny, which helped her settle comfortably. This positive initial experience led the reviewer to decide to transfer their dogs' care to Onalaska Animal Hospital, expressing confidence that their pets would be "treated and loved while in their care as if they were their own dogs."

However, it is crucial to acknowledge a significantly contrasting and deeply concerning negative review detailing a very distressing experience. This review describes the tragic loss of an 11-year-old German Shepherd after a visit to Onalaska Animal Hospital. The reviewer sought care for their dog due to abnormal behavior and was seen relatively quickly. Diagnostic procedures, including X-rays and complete blood work, were recommended at a quoted cost. Following these procedures, the diagnosis was a bad hip and a torn ACL, and pain medication and antibiotics were prescribed. The reviewer reported that their dog began vomiting after taking the medication and subsequently deteriorated over the following weekend. Attempts to contact the clinic resulted in being directed to an understaffed answering service with no on-call veterinarian available, allegedly suggesting a paid consultation with a Google Assistant or a long drive to another facility. Tragically, the dog died shortly thereafter. The reviewer expressed immense grief and frustration with the lack of follow-up and perceived misdiagnosis, especially as the initial test results were reported as indicating a healthy dog. A follow-up comment from the same reviewer further questioned the procedures performed under anesthesia, noting the dog's inability to walk on his back legs for several days post-procedure and the lack of communication regarding the video recording of the procedures.

Given these contrasting reviews, it is important for local users to consider both the positive initial impressions and the serious concerns raised in the negative feedback. While some aspects of Onalaska Animal Hospital, such as the welcoming environment and caring initial interactions, may be appealing, the critical issues highlighted in the negative review regarding diagnosis, post-treatment care, emergency support, and communication should be carefully considered.

As a Pet Hospital, Onalaska Animal Hospital likely offers a range of services to address the health needs of your pets. These services typically include routine wellness exams and vaccinations to help prevent illness and maintain your pet's optimal health. Diagnostic services are crucial for identifying health issues, and these may include blood work, X-rays, and other laboratory tests. Surgical procedures, both routine and specialized, are often performed at animal hospitals. Dental care is another important aspect of pet health, encompassing teeth cleaning, extractions, and oral health management. For unexpected health concerns, animal hospitals usually provide urgent care services. Furthermore, many pet hospitals offer preventative care measures such as parasite control (flea, tick, and heartworm prevention) and nutritional counseling to support your pet's overall well-being.

The features of Onalaska Animal Hospital, based on the available information, appear to include a clean and welcoming facility. The positive initial interaction with the reception staff suggests a focus on customer service. The willingness of the veterinary team to spend time with the pet and owner during examinations, as mentioned in the positive review, indicates a patient-centered approach. However, the negative review raises serious questions about the hospital's after-hours emergency support, follow-up care, and communication practices.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given text. Therefore, it is recommended that local users contact Onalaska Animal Hospital directly to inquire about any current promotions, wellness plans, or special offers they may have. It would also be prudent to ask about their emergency protocols and after-hours care procedures to ensure they align with your expectations for your pet's health and safety.

In conclusion, Onalaska Animal Hospital presents a mixed picture based on the available customer reviews. While some pet owners have reported positive initial experiences characterized by a welcoming environment and caring staff, a significant and deeply concerning negative review highlights serious issues regarding diagnosis, post-operative care, emergency support, and communication. Local users are advised to carefully consider all available information and potentially seek further clarification from the hospital regarding their services, protocols, and emergency procedures before making a decision about their pet's care. It is always recommended to have a clear understanding of the veterinary hospital's capabilities and emergency support systems to ensure the well-being and safety of your beloved pets.

Hard to leave this review. I took my 11 yr old German shepherd here i have had since he was 6 weeks old because he was not acting normal and asking me for help. They got me in in about and Hr but the vet i was to see was on some thing else so some one else came in and My dog was slipping on these so called non slip floors . After a check up and consulting they wanted to do X rays and a complete blood work to look for issues and quoted 622.$$ and they would have to put him out to do this. I waited 45 minutes and they came out and got me then another shot to wake him up that took longer than usual for him to come out of it. A lady came in and said good and some bad news ... Good all the test came back and he is a healthy dog that should be around a lot longer .. Bad he has a bad hip and a torn ACL and gave me pain meds and a antibiotic and charged me well over a thousand $$$. He started puking after i gave him the meds a few days later so i stopped them and he was ok until the following Saturday when he puked up a large amount of yellow stuff and seemed off again so i called in and got a answering service that told me they are Under staffed and No one was on call this weekend and i could pay 50$ to talk to a google assistant or take him to Madison 4 Hrs away as my dog was starting to go in and out and become unresponsive after a half Hr and the call taker hung up on me. Now all i could do is Hold my dog as he died in my arms with in another half hr. I called this place looking for some kind of a answer and they said a Vet will get back to me that day and here it is a week later and NOTHING! I'm still down and his sister i also got at 6 weeks old is just lost and this place calls it self a Animal Hospital is Very Misleading! Never again!!! The hardest day of my Life was to drag my dead dog off his bed and put him in a bag to go to the crematory after being told he was healthy! And 0 Help from any vet in town because it was a weekend. Follow up to their reply. You sent me out with No follow up besides if i need more pain meds call in. every thing was to be on video and i would like to see what was done after they put him to sleep and took him in for the xrays since he walked in and after they was done he could Not walk on his back legs for 3 days with out help ?? even to the car some one had to help ? I feel they over did the anesthesia since it took longer than usual to wake up and he had strange hick ups after that and then the pain meds and antibiotics on top of that! Your reply on here makes No sense since i was told his problem was a bad hip and torn acl and health wise everything else looked good ?? and quoted 622.$ and charged over well over 1000.$$ I did call in and NO one has returned my call to this day

We were very happy with the service we received at our cats first appointment at OAH! Dr. Jenna is awesome and we really liked our vet tech Trinity too. We also know another vet tech, Kayla, who stopped in to say hi and help get us checked out after the appointment and it was great to see her :) Overall we are glad to have chosen to start taking our cats here!
