Environment and Atmosphere

The environment and atmosphere at Olde Bedford Veterinary Clinic are characterized by a mixed but generally positive perception from clients. Several reviews highlight a very friendly and helpful staff, emphasizing their genuine care for animals. One client states, "The staff is always friendly and helpful. They always answer my questions, and it shows how much they care about my dog. They always talk to her, pet her, and make her feel comfortable, even though she can be a handful at times." This indicates a compassionate approach, with efforts made to soothe anxious pets and engage with them directly. Such dedication to making animals comfortable is crucial in a veterinary setting, fostering a less stressful experience. The doctor is also described as a "nice man" and "always knowledgeable and helpful." However, it is important to note a contrasting review which mentions some staff being "rude" at times and challenges with understanding the veterinarian. This suggests that while a majority of experiences are positive, there might be inconsistencies in communication or staff interactions for some individuals. Overall, the aim appears to be a welcoming and caring environment for pets and their owners.

Comprehensive Services Offered

As a "Pet Hospital" specializing in small animals, Olde Bedford Veterinary Clinic provides a range of services essential for maintaining the health and well-being of dogs and cats. Based on typical veterinary practices and the nature of client visits (e.g., "shots and get checked"), their services likely include:

  • Wellness and Preventative Care: This is a cornerstone of any small animal practice and would include routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations (such as rabies, distemper, parvovirus, etc., commonly referred to as "shots"), and general health check-ups.
  • Diagnosis and Treatment of Illnesses and Injuries: The clinic would provide services for diagnosing and treating various medical conditions affecting pets. This involves a thorough examination, and potentially diagnostic tests to identify the problem, followed by a suitable treatment plan. The review mentioning an "eye infection" and subsequent treatment with "pills and cream" indicates their capacity to handle common ailments.
  • Medication and Prescription Services: As indicated by the provision of "pills and cream" for an infection, the clinic dispenses necessary medications for treatment.
  • Client Education: The staff's willingness to "always answer my questions" and the doctor being "knowledgeable and helpful" suggests an emphasis on educating pet owners about their pet's health, treatment plans, and preventative measures.

It's important to note that while the clinic provides essential care, specific details about advanced diagnostics (like X-rays or ultrasound), specialized surgeries, or emergency services are not explicitly detailed in the provided information. However, their role as a general practitioner for small animals implies competence in handling common health issues.

Distinguishing Features

Olde Bedford Veterinary Clinic possesses several features that contribute to its standing in the community, as indicated by client feedback:

  • Friendly and Caring Staff: A significant strength highlighted by multiple clients is the welcoming and compassionate nature of the staff. Their efforts to make pets feel comfortable, even "a handful at times," are highly appreciated by owners. This personal touch fosters a sense of trust and care.
  • Knowledgeable Doctor: The veterinarian is consistently described as "knowledgeable and helpful," which is fundamental for effective diagnosis and treatment. The ability to answer questions thoroughly enhances the client experience.
  • Building Client Loyalty: The statement "I don't plan on going to any other vet" from a satisfied client is a powerful testament to the clinic's ability to build strong, lasting relationships based on positive experiences. This loyalty indicates consistent quality of care for many.
  • Accessibility and Regular Hours: The published daily operating hours, including Saturday mornings, provide a reliable schedule for pet owners to seek care.

However, it is crucial to acknowledge the dissenting review, which highlights potential areas for improvement. This review mentions difficulty understanding the veterinarian, a misdiagnosis of an eye infection, and a perception of being "mislead" regarding potential surgery costs. This suggests that while many clients have positive experiences, there might be instances where communication or diagnostic accuracy could be perceived differently, leading to varied client outcomes and satisfaction.

Promotional Information and Client Support

While the provided information does not detail specific promotional campaigns or discounts, Olde Bedford Veterinary Clinic relies heavily on its reputation for friendly service and knowledgeable care to attract and retain clients. The most effective promotion comes from positive word-of-mouth, as evidenced by the loyal client who "doesn't plan on going to any other vet."

Beyond direct services, the clinic actively supports pet owners in managing the costs of veterinary care, which can be a significant promotional aspect:

  • Pet Insurance Acceptance: Like many veterinary offices, Olde Bedford Veterinary Clinic accepts pet insurance for unexpected accidents and illnesses. They encourage clients to get their pets insured while healthy to avoid pre-existing condition exclusions, helping pet owners get reimbursed for significant vet costs.
  • Wellness Plans: While not directly offered by the clinic itself, they inform clients about insurance providers that offer routine care add-ons or "wellness plans," which can help manage the cost of regular health expenses.
  • Treatment Financing Solutions: For existing medical conditions or large unexpected upfront costs, the clinic likely accepts financing solutions such as CareCredit and Scratchpay. These options allow pet owners to spread out payments over time, making comprehensive care more financially accessible. The presence of Olde Bedford Veterinary Clinic on the CareCredit doctor locator confirms their acceptance of this financing option.

These financial assistance options, though not direct discounts, are significant promotional points as they address a major concern for pet owners – the affordability of quality care. By facilitating access to insurance and financing, Olde Bedford Veterinary Clinic promotes responsible pet ownership and reduces financial barriers to necessary veterinary services. The consistent delivery of friendly, knowledgeable, and caring service forms the bedrock of their reputation and ongoing success as a "Pet Hospital" in Bedford, PA.

So I normally don't do reviews at all. But I need to now. Half the time I've taken my dog for shots and get checked, some were rude and some was great (staff). But the veterinarian for one u can't really understand him when he talks and diagnosed my dog wrong with an eye infection and gave pills and cream first visit then went back because it was still happening and gave me more cream for my dog. Then my dog started to get a spot on each eye from cream. And the thing is dogs eye infection r contagious and my dog was around other dogs and the dogs never got anything huh so then I told vet then said my dog would need eye surgery which would be around 1000.00 dollars. I feel I was missing lead and the vet new about her eyes, how they were curling in word and poop eye ducks. There's more so I got another vet and now me and my dog r on the right path.

This place is run very well. All the staff there are very courteous and caring. I never had any issues with them as I’ve been taking my dog here all her life and she loves to go too. I’d definitely recommend this vet to anyone.

My dog was in a bad way with a pyrometria. They took her the same day of our visit, and Dr Erickson and his staff did a superb job getting her healthy again for me. Not only that they also charged me 1/3 the price another veterinarian that I won't name here but is located near the turnpike interchange. Then 2 weeks later they did a follow-up visit in took her stitches out for free.
