We first went to Petmedic where they realized my cat had a rather large blockage in his stomach. They said he needed surgery and were unable to accommodate his needs so transferred him to Ocean State. Like always place was jammed with adorable animals. All employees from front counter staff, assistants, doctors, and surgeons were all great. They were informative and friendly. My cat Loki stayed for 2 nights and had successful surgery where they found his stomach packed with fern pieces from a plant in my house. Loki healed perfectly and the plants were removed from my home. The only downside to Ocean State was the very very large bill that could have bought a very nice car for my teenage son 馃槼.

Testimonials from real customers consistently highlight the dedication and expertise of the OSVS team. One reviewer shared a harrowing experience with their kitten, whose chances of survival were low due to a life-threatening emergency. Thanks to Dr. Nick Medeiros and the entire team, including multiple blood transfusions and a whole blood donation, the kitten made a remarkable recovery, now "happy, healthy, and thriving." This story powerfully illustrates the hospital's ability to handle critical cases and their unwavering commitment to saving lives. Another customer praised the staff for their informativeness and friendliness during a challenging situation involving their cat's stomach blockage, noting the successful surgery and perfect healing. While acknowledging the high cost, a common aspect of specialized, 24/7 emergency care, the positive outcomes and compassionate service often outweigh this concern for pet owners facing dire circumstances.
As for promotional information, the core of Ocean State Veterinary Specialists' appeal lies in its comprehensive, 24/7 emergency and specialty services. Their ability to provide world-class veterinary care, supported by state-of-the-art equipment and a team of board-certified specialists, is their primary differentiator. May 15, 2025 路 Alicia BlanchetteI will never forget what the ER team at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists did for my kitten. A little over two years ago, my 4-month-old cat developed a life-threatening emergency. His chances of survival were low but Dr. Nick Medeiros and the entire team gave him everything they had. After multiple blood transfusions and even a whole blood donation from a donor cat, my sweet boy started to improve against all odds. Today, he鈥檚 happy, healthy, and thriving and it鈥檚 all thanks to the incredible care and dedication of this team. I will forever be grateful to them for saving his life.
May 16, 2025 路 Katie FWe brought our dog here for a diagnostic ultrasound. While the outcome was not good in terms of what they found I have to say that they were very very compassionate. They explain carefully what the issue was and what the prognosis would be if we followed different treatment paths or no treatment at all. They gave us all the time we needed to think about it and ask questions with no pressure to make a decision. Ultimately, we decided that it was best for our pet to put her down. Dr. Pepin was so kind and so gentle with our loving Zuzu and let us stay with her as long as we wanted. I would definitely recommend Ocean State Veterinary for any care that your pet needs.
Feb 27, 2025 路 Bruce ShayI went here last year, after a sick visit and some worrisome lab results for my dog at usual vet. The care at ocean state was hands down the best care I鈥檝e received for my dog. Elizabeth was incredibly kind and patient, explaining previous lab and reasoning behind wanting to retest. She explained everything step by step, answering all of my questions. I wanted her as my regular vet for my dog! I had never been to an animal hospital before, and I was worried about the cost, but for the visit and bloodwork PLUS medication, was the same cost for a sick visit and blood work at my vet, Tiogue. I have since switched vets realizing I should not be paying hospital prices at my vet, and not even getting this level of care. 鈾ワ笍 Thank you. Everyone there was so kind and informative every step of the way.
May 18, 2025 路 Jennifer PerreaultAmazing place from beginning to end. Thank you for being so kind to my mom and I when we had to bring my 15 year old cat Winter this evening to be euthanized. You made feel so comfortable and made the process bearable. From calling you guys on the phone to the reception to the vet tech down the vet. We didn鈥檛 feel judged or rushed in the process. My heart is heavy with grief but full because you all were amazing and compassionate. We couldn鈥檛 have asked for better care. Thank you for making the last moments of my cats life peaceful!
