For the past 5 years I have been taking my dogs to Ocean Isle Vet and have been very satisfied. In the past 5 years I have never missed an appointment except for last month. I rescheduled the appointment and they charged me a deposit up front before my visit. Keep in mind this vet does not send out a reminder email or text. I've decided to take my pet elsewhere and have no regrets. The new vet I've gone to conducts follow ups and sends out multiple reminders via email and text of any upcoming appointments. The are reasonable priced and DO NOT charge me a fee upfront before my pet's appointment.

Welcome to Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital
Welcome to Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital, a Pet Hospital located at 1733 Seaside Rd SW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469, USA. For many pet owners in the Ocean Isle Beach area, this clinic has been a source of veterinary care for several years, with some clients reporting satisfaction over a five-year period. The hospital has been recognized for its great service and accurate diagnostic work. However, recent feedback indicates a potential change in policy regarding appointment deposits and the absence of appointment reminders, which has influenced at least one long-term client's decision to seek care elsewhere. Despite this, the clinic appears to have a coordinated and positive caring team dedicated to the well-being of their animal patients.
Information regarding the specific details of the clinic's environment is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. However, the mention of a "coordinated team effort" and a "very positive caring team effort" suggests a well-organized and supportive workplace. This likely translates to a professional and compassionate atmosphere within the clinic's facilities. While the reviews do not explicitly describe the physical layout or amenities, it is reasonable to assume that Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital is equipped with standard examination rooms, treatment areas, and potentially surgical suites necessary for providing comprehensive veterinary care. The positive feedback regarding diagnostic work implies the presence of necessary equipment and resources for accurate assessments.
A key feature of Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital is its team, which is described as coordinated, positive, and caring. One reviewer specifically praised the clinic for being "spot on with diagnostic work," indicating a high level of expertise and accuracy in identifying and understanding pet health issues. The collaborative nature of the team effort suggests good communication and a unified approach to patient care. This positive aspect of their service has contributed to client satisfaction over several years. However, it is important to consider the recent experience of a long-term client who, despite five years of satisfaction, opted to leave due to a new policy regarding upfront deposits for rescheduled appointments and the lack of appointment reminders.
Based on the experiences shared in the customer reviews, Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital offers at least the following veterinary services:
- Diagnostic Work: The clinic has been recognized for its accuracy in diagnosing pet health issues.
- General Veterinary Care: The fact that clients have been taking their pets to this hospital for routine care over several years implies a provision of standard veterinary services.
Given the designation as a Pet Hospital and the positive feedback regarding diagnostic capabilities, it is highly probable that Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital offers a broader range of services typically expected from a comprehensive veterinary practice, such as:
- Routine Checkups and Wellness Exams: Essential for preventative care and maintaining overall pet health.
- Vaccinations: To protect pets from various infectious diseases.
- Parasite Prevention and Control: Offering advice and products to manage fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other parasites.
- Dental Care: Including routine cleanings and treatment of dental issues.
- Laboratory Services: For diagnostic testing such as blood work and urinalysis.
- Treatment of Illnesses and Injuries: Providing medical and surgical care for a wide range of health problems.
- Surgical Procedures: From routine spays and neuters to more complex surgeries, depending on the clinic's facilities and expertise.
- Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets for pets.
- Microchipping: For permanent pet identification.
- Euthanasia and End-of-Life Care: Providing compassionate support during a pet's final stages.
A point of concern raised in a recent review is the clinic's policy regarding upfront deposits for rescheduled appointments, particularly in the absence of appointment reminders. This policy change led a long-term client to seek veterinary care elsewhere, highlighting the importance of clear communication regarding clinic policies and the potential impact on customer loyalty. The lack of reminder emails or texts was a significant factor in this client's decision, as they found a new vet who provides these services and does not charge upfront fees for appointments.
The provided information does not contain any specific details about current promotional offers or goods for sale at Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital. However, as a functioning veterinary clinic, it is likely that they offer or provide access to necessary pet-related products and services, such as:
- Prescription Medications: To treat various health conditions diagnosed by their veterinarians.
- Preventative Medications: For fleas, ticks, and heartworms.
- Veterinary Diets: Specialized food formulated for specific health needs.
- Nutritional Supplements: As recommended by the veterinary team.

Local users may also want to inquire about their appointment policies, including any deposit requirements and reminder systems, to ensure it aligns with their preferences.
In conclusion, Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, is a Pet Hospital that has provided satisfactory service and accurate diagnostics to many clients over the years. The clinic is praised for its coordinated and positive caring team. However, a recent change in policy regarding upfront deposits for rescheduled appointments and the lack of appointment reminders has been a point of concern for at least one long-term client. Prospective clients may find their diagnostic capabilities and team approach beneficial but should inquire about the clinic's appointment and reminder policies to ensure a satisfactory experience.

May 21, 2025 · Chet HayesGreat service spot on with diagnostic work on my pet! Coordinated team effort, very positive carrying team effort! Buddy said, “ thank you!”
May 20, 2025 · Wayne BachandExtremely professional and compassionate. We just had to bring our old girl Sophie in... 16 years old with congestive heart failure. Dr. Yarbrough is amazing and her staff is as well. We had to unfortunately say goodbye to our little girl which was the absolute most difficult decision. They were sooo compassionate and allowed us as much time with Sophie as we needed both before and after. I highly recommend their office and especially Dr. Yarbrough!
Mar 21, 2025 · Megan InmanI am so thankful that I found Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital. I saw the owner first and loved his humor! Dr. Yarbrough has since taken over caring for my cat and she is so smart, personable and caring. Everyone goes out of their way to make everything perfect. Shelley at the front desk did a very good job of making phone calls and relaying messages. She was wonderful in helping to get my cat seen asap!
Feb 28, 2025 · Carolyn NaylorAwful experience here at Ocean Isle Vet. After bringing in my dog for a routine teeth cleaning he suddenly couldn’t get the teeth treatment and was in kidney failure and passed away a week after seeing this vet. We tried thinking it was an awful coincidence but after the second experience bringing in new puppies last week I don’t have a good feeling about my perfectly fine dog being healthy and ultimately dying a week later. Amelia a vet tech there is a know it all and extremely rude and unprofessional. She suggested that my new puppies who were given shots from our reputable breeder needed additional shots and trying to discredit the breeder we used. I don’t know why they are letting vet techs run the show there and the actual vets aren’t even visiting the animals being brought in. It seems very sketchy, money greedy and not taking what’s in the best interest of the animal. Honestly, this place should be shut down.
