As a full-service veterinary clinic, Oaks Veterinary Clinic offers a comprehensive range of services designed to address the diverse health needs of dogs and cats throughout their lives. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Personalized Wellness Care: This is a foundational aspect of their practice, involving routine examinations, vaccinations (including common ones like Bordatella and specific ones like Lyme disease protection), and preventative care tailored to each pet's individual needs. The focus is on proactive health management to ensure long-term well-being.

  • Medical Case Management: The clinic is equipped to diagnose and manage a wide array of medical conditions. This includes addressing issues such as allergic dermatitis, as mentioned in a client review, and other acute or chronic illnesses. Their approach is described as practical, focusing on effective and appropriate treatment plans.

  • Surgical Services: While specific surgical offerings are not detailed, a full-service "Pet Hospital" typically provides a range of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft tissue surgeries. The emphasis on professional and compassionate care extends to their surgical interventions.

  • Diagnostic Services: Accurate diagnosis is key to effective treatment. While the specific technologies used are not listed, a comprehensive clinic like Oaks Veterinary Clinic generally utilizes diagnostic tools such as in-house laboratory testing (for blood work, urinalysis, etc.) and potentially imaging services (like X-rays) to aid in identifying health issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Pharmacy Services: A complete inventory of necessary pharmaceuticals is typically maintained, providing convenient access to medications, parasiticides (flea, tick, and heartworm prevention), and often prescription diets.

  • Additional Services: Beyond core medical care, a full-service clinic may offer other beneficial services such as microchipping for permanent identification, nutritional counseling, and behavioral advice to support overall pet health and owner education.

Do not take your dog here if they are sick. We took our pitbull here because he kept coughing, so they took X-rays and claimed he had “two small growths in his lung” went to another vet and they showed us he had a VERY big tumor in his lungs and only a few months left. They lied about the severity of the situation or were oblivious, and on top of that they didn’t call back with the blood results until days after and I had to ask about it.

Love Dr. Harmon and all the vets at Oaks! I've been taking my pets here for over 20 years and have NEVER had a bad experience! Prices are reasonable and the care is OUTSTANDING!

We called at 7:45am because my rabbit was having a seizure-like activity. Dr. Ford was able to see Lola at 8:30am. Lola was not a current patient at Oaks and I had already called 2 emergency vet clinics and 1 other vet clinic and the other clinics unfortunately did not have veterinarians that had experience with rabbits. Needless to say I was so grateful they were able to see Lola. She is now at home resting. We would have spent thousands on our rabbit but our visit cost us less than $100. Totally worth it. Thank you for providing exotic animal care to the Des Moines area. It means the world to me and my husband. Photos of Lola below because she's my world.
