My cat went in to get teeth pulled, everything went great, except for when they left a piece of cotton/ gauze in his throat causing him to have no airflow. He died because of a mistake they made. He should be cuddling with me right now and instead he is sleeping forever. It’s truly devastating knowing the only reason he died is because of human error. The vet says they are no longer going to be using this technique because it’s dangerous. Great for everyone else, but my cat paid the price for their mistake.

Welcome to Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic
For pet owners in Oxford, Indiana, and the surrounding communities, Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic, located at 6593 IN-55, Oxford, IN 47971, serves as a local "Pet Hospital" providing veterinary care for animals. You can contact them at (765) 385-0100 or their mobile number +1 765-385-0100 for inquiries about their services, appointment scheduling, or to discuss your pet's health needs. As a pet hospital, Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic is expected to offer a range of medical services beyond routine check-ups, potentially including surgical procedures, dental care, and treatment for illnesses and injuries.
To provide an objective introduction to Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic for local users, it's essential to consider the experiences shared by real customers. The available reviews present a stark contrast, highlighting both a significant negative outcome and a positive overall impression of the clinic and its staff. These differing perspectives underscore the importance of considering all feedback when evaluating a veterinary care provider.
One customer shared a deeply tragic experience involving their cat undergoing a tooth extraction procedure. According to the review, a piece of cotton or gauze was inadvertently left in the cat's throat, leading to a fatal airway obstruction. The reviewer expressed profound grief and devastation, emphasizing that their cat's death was a direct result of human error during the procedure. They also mentioned that the veterinarian acknowledged the incident and stated that the technique used would no longer be employed due to its inherent risks. While the reviewer noted this change might benefit future patients, it brought no solace for the loss of their pet. This review serves as a critical reminder of the potential for medical errors, even in veterinary settings, and the profound impact such errors can have on pet owners and their animals.
In contrast, another customer shared a very positive experience with Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic. They mentioned that their pet, Roy, recovered well after surgery. The reviewer consistently found the clinic staff to be pleasant and helpful. Interestingly, they recounted an encounter with the veterinarian (Lisa)'s son in town, who, upon learning that the reviewer had just dropped off their dog for surgery with his mother, offered assistance in carrying items. This anecdote highlights a personal connection and a sense of community associated with the clinic, extending beyond the professional setting. The reviewer's positive experience suggests a caring and supportive environment at Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic, with a staff that is both competent and compassionate.
Considering these two reviews, it's challenging to form a definitive picture of the typical experience at Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic. The positive review speaks to successful surgical outcomes and a helpful, friendly staff, potentially indicating a well-run practice with caring individuals. The negative review, however, raises serious concerns about patient safety and the potential for critical errors during medical procedures. It's important for local users to acknowledge both of these perspectives when considering this clinic for their pet's care.
While the reviews don't provide specific details about the clinic's environment, the positive feedback regarding the staff's pleasantness and helpfulness might suggest a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for pet owners. However, the critical error described in the negative review overshadows any assumptions about the clinic's environment and protocols. A well-equipped and clean environment is generally expected of a veterinary hospital to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, but the reported incident raises questions about the thoroughness of post-operative care in at least one instance.
Based on the limited information, the services offered at Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic likely include surgical procedures (as indicated by both reviews), dental care (the reason for the tragic incident), and general veterinary care for pets. The positive surgical outcome for "Roy" suggests competence in this area under normal circumstances. However, the fatal error during a dental procedure underscores the need for rigorous protocols and meticulous attention to detail in all medical interventions.
Features of Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic that can be gleaned from the reviews include a seemingly pleasant and helpful staff, as mentioned in the positive review. The willingness of the veterinarian's son to assist a client outside of the clinic setting also suggests a personal touch and community involvement. However, the critical error leading to a pet's death, as detailed in the negative review, is a significant factor that cannot be overlooked. The veterinarian's reported decision to discontinue the technique that led to the error could be seen as a step towards improving patient safety, but it does not undo the tragic loss experienced by the affected pet owner.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided text. Veterinary clinics may occasionally offer promotions for routine services like vaccinations, wellness exams, or dental cleanings. To learn about any current specials or offers at Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic, local users would need to contact them directly.
In conclusion, Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic in Oxford, IN, is a local "Pet Hospital" that appears to have a friendly and helpful staff, as highlighted by one positive review which also mentions a successful surgical outcome. However, a deeply concerning negative review details a fatal error during a routine dental procedure, raising serious questions about patient safety protocols and post-operative care in that specific instance. While the clinic reportedly will no longer use the technique associated with the error, this information does not mitigate the tragic loss experienced by the pet owner. Local users considering Oak Grove Veterinary Clinic for their pet's care should carefully weigh these contrasting experiences and perhaps seek further information or clarification regarding their safety protocols and patient care standards before making a decision.

Feb 19, 2025 · abbie sanfordGreat group. Roy had no problems after surgery. Staff is always pleasant & helpful. Even the Veterinarian (Lisa)'s son is wonderful as he helped me carry stuff (out of a store ) to my car while in town that day. I didn't know who he was & noticed dog hair on him. Mentioned i just had dropped off my dog for sugery. And he says ' With Lisa? Thats my mom' ♡It's a small world.
