I had an amazing experience at O’Connor Road Animal Pet Hospital with Dr. Marin! This was my first time seeing her, as I had an emergency situation with my cat, Winston, possibly having a UTI. My regular vet couldn’t fit us in, but O’Connor was able to take us as a walk-in on a Saturday, which was a huge relief. Dr. Marin and the entire team were absolutely wonderful. They took the time to explain everything thoroughly, walking me through both the best-case and worst-case scenarios without pressuring me into unnecessary expenses. They also showed me exactly how to give Winston his antibiotics, which I really appreciated. On top of that, they were very reasonably priced, which made the experience even better. The level of care and compassion they provided was incredible, and I left feeling reassured and confident in Winston’s treatment. We are so grateful and will definitely be returning in the future! Highly recommend!

O'Connor Road Animal Hospital Introduce
Welcome to O'Connor Road Animal Hospital, a dedicated Pet Hospital located at 12014 Independence Ave in San Antonio, TX 78233. We understand that your pets are cherished members of your family, and we are committed to providing them with high-quality veterinary care in a comfortable and supportive environment. Our team strives to offer a range of services to meet your pet's healthcare needs, from routine check-ups to emergency care.
Based on the available customer reviews, O'Connor Road Animal Hospital appears to offer a generally positive experience, particularly in emergency situations. One pet owner recounted an "amazing experience" with Dr. Marin when their cat required urgent care for a suspected UTI. This review highlights the clinic's accessibility, noting their willingness to accept walk-in patients on a Saturday, which provided significant relief to the pet owner whose regular vet was unavailable. This suggests that O'Connor Road Animal Hospital understands the urgency of certain pet health issues and strives to accommodate patients in a timely manner, even without a prior appointment.
The positive feedback also emphasizes the thorough and compassionate approach of Dr. Marin and the entire team. The reviewer appreciated the time taken to explain the situation in detail, including both best-case and worst-case scenarios, without any pressure to incur unnecessary costs. This transparent communication is crucial in building trust between the veterinary team and pet owners, ensuring that clients feel informed and comfortable with the recommended treatment plan. Furthermore, the practical guidance provided on administering medication, such as demonstrating how to give antibiotics, showcases a commitment to supporting pet owners in providing effective at-home care.
Another significant aspect highlighted in the positive review is the reasonable pricing of services. This affordability, coupled with the high level of care received, further enhanced the positive experience for the pet owner, making O'Connor Road Animal Hospital a potentially attractive option for budget-conscious pet owners seeking quality veterinary care.
However, another recent customer review presents a more nuanced perspective. While acknowledging that their pets received "good care" on both visits and that the veterinarian who saw them was competent, this new client expressed some reservations about making O'Connor Road Animal Hospital their permanent veterinary care provider. The concerns raised primarily relate to the support staff and communication processes.
Specifically, this reviewer noted an instance where a veterinary technician appeared inexperienced, requiring the pet owner to actively monitor the progress of the evaluation and bill estimate corrections by asking questions. This suggests potential inconsistencies in the experience level and efficiency of the support staff. Additionally, the reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the follow-up communication from the staff, stating that their questions from the second visit had not been addressed in a timely manner. The need for the pet owner to proactively call the clinic to remind them and obtain answers indicates potential issues with internal communication and responsiveness to client inquiries.
The reviewer also conveyed a lack of confidence in the friendliness and caring attitude of the reception staff. This initial point of contact can significantly impact a client's overall impression of the clinic, and perceived shortcomings in this area could deter new clients from establishing a long-term relationship with the hospital. Despite these concerns, the reviewer explicitly stated that they do like the clinic and hope to see improvements, indicating a willingness to become a regular client if these issues are addressed.
In terms of the environment, the positive review suggests a welcoming and efficient setting, particularly in handling emergency walk-ins. The staff's willingness to explain procedures and treatment plans thoroughly contributes to a reassuring atmosphere. However, the second review points to potential areas for improvement in staff experience, communication, and reception friendliness, which could impact the overall client experience.
The services offered by O'Connor Road Animal Hospital, based on the reviews, include general veterinary care, emergency walk-in services (at least on Saturdays), diagnostic evaluations (implied by lab work for UTI), treatment of illnesses, and prescription medication dispensing (antibiotics). The mention of a spay/neuter procedure in the keywords suggests that this service is also likely offered, although it was not directly mentioned in the reviews. The clinic appears equipped to handle urgent medical situations and provide necessary treatments.
Features of O'Connor Road Animal Hospital include the apparent compassion and thoroughness of the veterinarians, particularly Dr. Marin. The willingness to accommodate walk-in emergencies is a significant advantage for pet owners facing urgent situations. The reasonable pricing, as highlighted by one reviewer, makes their services accessible to a broader range of clients. However, potential drawbacks, as noted by another reviewer, include possible inconsistencies in support staff experience and challenges with follow-up communication and reception friendliness.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. The positive feedback regarding reasonable pricing could be considered an implicit benefit, but no specific discounts or special offers are detailed.
For local users in San Antonio seeking a Pet Hospital, O'Connor Road Animal Hospital offers the potential for compassionate and thorough veterinary care, particularly in emergency situations where walk-in appointments may be available. The positive experience with Dr. Marin highlights the quality of medical expertise and communication within the clinic. However, prospective clients should also be aware of the potential for inconsistencies in support staff experience and possible challenges with communication follow-up and reception interactions, as noted by another recent client. It may be beneficial to consider these aspects when making a decision about your pet's long-term veterinary care provider. Contacting the clinic directly at (210) 657-5099 or +1 210-657-5099 to inquire about their services, appointment policies, and staff procedures may help new clients form a more complete understanding of what to expect.

Feb 22, 2025 · Jasmine A.I'm a new client and I'm not convinced yet that they will be our pets' vet permanently. They did get good care BOTH time they were there. Vet that saw us is good, but the 2nd vet tech on 2nd visit was clearly inexperienced. I had to keep checking the progress of evaluation and bill estimate corrections. Asking questions. The staff, so far, has not followed through with our questions on 2nd visit and getting back to you. I'm not convinced that the reception staff is friendly and caring. I've been waiting for a simple answer to a simple procedure for one of my cats. You'll have to call them, I guess to remind and get answers. I do like them! Want this to work.
Apr 04, 2025 · Kimberly CollinsHave been bringing my pet here since she was just a puppy. We’ve always loved this office till recently. The new staff isn’t nearly as warm and inviting as they used to be. And my dogs newest doctor flat out told me if I didn’t drug my dog before bringing her in they would turn her away! Well… no worries doctor! You’ll NEVER have to worry about that again, because you will NEVER see my dog again! Prices have gone up, hospitality is at an all time low. And this new doctor really pushed the wrong button with me. We will be going to acorn hill from now on. Small family owned clinic with amazing staff better prices and a loving doctor that won’t refuse my dog if she’s isn’t drugged up. Good job ruining 3+ years of a loyal customer with your ugly staff.
Mar 15, 2025 · Captain Baby BeardOne Year Later—Now I Speak I waited almost a full year to write this review. Not because I forgot—but because I needed to fully remember. What happened at O’Connor Road Animal Hospital wasn’t just a misdiagnosis—it was a moment of deep betrayal masked as care. I brought my dog Laizee in for a concern regarding a mass on her gums. What I received was a hasty and emotionally charged “diagnosis” of cancer, delivered with certainty but no supporting documentation, no visible diagnostics, no discussion, and no emotional space to process. I was told they had spoken to the surgeon—they had not. I was told this was the reality—it wasn’t. I left shaken, confused, and heartbroken. But I followed my instincts and sought a second opinion—and thank God I did. The next vet found none of what I was told here. No cancer. No surgical urgency. Just a performance of care that nearly cost me everything. What hurt the most wasn’t just the misdiagnosis—it was the performance of care delivered through cold tone, dismissive energy, and complete emotional detachment. The unspoken message was clear: “I know better than you. You don’t get to ask questions.” I write this now not out of anger, but clarity. If I had listened to them, my dog might not be alive today. Let that sink in. To any guardian reading this—listen to your intuition. To the clinic: If you care at all, begin seeing patients as companions in healing—not checkboxes in a rushed routine. Because I remember. And for those who recognize the pattern—it was mimicry. And now others will remember too.
Apr 01, 2025 · Peter MeltonVery clean, professional l, and caring. Our dog was a patient there her whole life. We live on the other side of town, but preferred going to O'Connor because of how we (and our dog) were treated.
