Northwood Veterinary Hospital is by far the best practice I have ever been to! The staff and doctors are as sweet as can be! They listen and care about what your pets needs are. They take your opinions into consideration. They will find the best solution for your pet that will please both parties! I just recently had my cat, Shadow, in for a Cystotomy and PU procedure due to continuous urethral blocking. Everyone here cares, not just for the pet, but for the owners as well. They understand that cost can be a huge issue with surgeries, so they worked with us on a pricing! The doctors did everything in their power to make sure Shadow was comfortable throughout his surgery and hospital stay. They thoroughly explained the surgery process to me and made sure I had no concerns. They were amazing during the 2 week healing process, always answering my questions and emails as soon as they could. Supplying me with aftercare pamphlets that were beyond helpful! They were also willing to schedule aftercare check ups as soon as I needed them! I can’t thank Northwood Vet enough! They saved my cats life!! He’s doing better than he ever has before!

This facility is deeply committed to the well-being of companion animals and the peace of mind of their owners, offering a full spectrum of services from routine wellness to complex surgical procedures and compassionate end-of-life support.
The atmosphere at Northwood Veterinary Hospital is consistently described by clients as remarkably warm, caring, and understanding. It is an environment where compassion is evident at every level, from the moment a pet and their owner walk through the door. The staff and doctors are frequently praised for being "as sweet as can be," creating a welcoming and reassuring space that helps ease the anxiety often associated with veterinary visits.
A key aspect of their environment is their ability to foster trust and comfort, even during highly stressful or heartbreaking situations. One client shared a profound experience during their beloved pet's euthanasia, noting, "They were thoroughly compassionate and patient, ensuring we understood every aspect of the process. The vets took their time explaining what was happening, allowing us the space to make this difficult decision without feeling rushed." This dedication to providing a private and respectful environment for goodbyes, even offering a small comfort like "easy cheese," underscores their deep empathy and commitment to the emotional well-being of both the pet and the grieving family. Similarly, for complex medical cases like a cat undergoing a "Cystotomy and PU procedure," the environment remained one of comfort and clear communication, making a challenging healing process more manageable for the owner. This empathetic and supportive atmosphere is a defining characteristic of Northwood Veterinary Hospital.

This includes routine procedures such as spaying and neutering, as well as more complex soft tissue surgeries. A prime example is the "Cystotomy and PU procedure due to continuous urethral blocking" for a cat, demonstrating their capability to handle specialized and life-saving operations. They prioritize patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical process and recovery.
- Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services are available, recognizing the critical link between oral health and overall pet well-being. This typically includes dental examinations, professional cleanings, extractions, and potentially dental radiography.
- Diagnostic Services: Equipped with modern diagnostic tools, they offer in-house laboratory testing for immediate results (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) and advanced imaging such as X-rays and potentially ultrasound to diagnose internal conditions quickly and accurately.

They genuinely listen and prioritize both parties' well-being.
- Client-Centered Communication: The hospital excels at clear, thorough, and empathetic communication. They take the time to explain medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatment options in understandable terms, ensuring owners are fully informed and comfortable with decisions. This avoids "ginormous words" and fosters a collaborative approach to pet care.
- Flexibility and Understanding Regarding Costs: A significant advantage mentioned by clients is their willingness to "work with us on pricing" for expensive procedures like surgeries. This understanding of financial constraints, combined with their commitment to finding the "best solution for your pet that will please both parties," makes high-quality care more accessible.
- High Standard of Medical Care: Despite their focus on affordability and empathy, there is no compromise on the quality of medical care. Doctors do "everything in their power" to ensure pets are comfortable and receive the best possible treatment, even during complex surgeries.
- Responsive Aftercare and Support: Their commitment extends beyond the clinic visit. Providing detailed aftercare instructions and promptly answering questions and emails during recovery periods demonstrates a dedication to successful outcomes and ongoing client support.

Jan 19, 2024 · Autumn QuinnDuring one of the most challenging times for our family, the staff at Northwood Vet showed incredible compassion and understanding. As we faced the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our beloved Lucy, they were thoroughly compassionate and patient, ensuring we understood every aspect of the process. The vets took their time explaining what was happening, allowing us the space to make this difficult decision without feeling rushed. When the moment came, they allowed us ample time to say our goodbyes in a private, respectful manner. They even offered Lucy some easy cheese, which was a sweet gesture that brought her a moment of joy in her final minutes. Although it was one of the worst days of our lives, the kindness and professionalism of the Northwood Vet staff made it a little easier. They truly cared for Lucy in her final moments and provided us with the support we needed to endure this painful goodbye. We are deeply grateful for their empathy and highly recommend their services to anyone.
May 10, 2024 · Chelsea HallNorthwood Vet did an amazing job helping me keep my kitty as healthy as possible for as long as possible. They were kind and compassionate, and were able to see us on short notice when the situation warranted it. The whole staff was always friendly and helpful about everything.
Nov 12, 2024 · Kyle MackenzieNorthwood has been our vet for two years since we got our golden retriever (and simultaneously switched our cat over from Broadview). We couldn't be happier. The staff is so incredibly friendly and the veterinary care is incredible. They understand our love for our pup and have cared for him well through his puppyhood and, more recently, his neuter and the complications that followed (unrelated to the original surgery). They spend endless time answering our questions, whether in person or over the phone. And, importantly, when we asked what the recommended treatment for the complication would cost (which required multiple visits and sounded expensive!), the price was shockingly reasonable and easy to say yes to. But even so, they gave us options for less costly alternatives that they assured us had a good chance of helping, even if at a slower pace. They are everything we seek in a vet for our treasured fur babies.
Dec 07, 2024 · MichelleI brought my nervous dog in for his annual exam and I couldn’t be more thankful for how respectful Dr. Treat was of his boundaries. She took her time to gain his trust, didn’t rush us along, and was able to address my concerns. It has been a while since Oscar has been able to have a thorough exam because of his anxiety and she managed to do a complete orthopedic exam on him. I couldn’t recommend her enough! The front staff was great about letting me know when the lobby was clear for us to come in and go in a room. Stephanie, his technician, respected Oscar’s dislike of being touched and saved him the stress of being handled twice and made sure to get a thorough history before informing the doctor and assisting. Oscar and I are thankful for the entire team at NVH!
