Dr. Jones is a dream. She's kind, patient, and always takes her time to clearly explain what's going on with my dog's eye health in a way I'll understand. She exudes compassion and empathy and always has my dog's best interests in mind when providing care. The office is very far from seattle and is on the more expensive side compared to other eye experts in the area but it's worth every penny.

Northwest Animal Eye Specialists Introduce
For pet owners in Seattle, Kirkland, and the broader Puget Sound region facing complex eye health issues with their beloved animals, Northwest Animal Eye Specialists, located at 13020 NE 85th St in Kirkland, Washington, offers a dedicated "Pet Hospital" specializing exclusively in veterinary ophthalmology. This clinic stands out as a center of expertise for diagnosing and treating a wide range of ocular conditions in animals. Customer reviews provide valuable insights into the level of care, the expertise of the veterinarians, and the overall experience at this specialized facility. One reviewer describes their experience with Dr. Jones as being with "a dream." They highlight her kindness, patience, and her ability to clearly explain intricate details about their dog's eye health in an understandable manner. Dr. Jones is also praised for exuding compassion and empathy and for consistently prioritizing the dog's best interests in her approach to care. While acknowledging that the clinic's location in Kirkland may be less convenient for those residing in Seattle and that the cost might be higher compared to other eye specialists in the area, the reviewer firmly believes that the level of care received is "worth every penny." This testament speaks to the exceptional quality of expertise and patient-centered approach offered by Dr. Jones.
Another detailed review recounts a challenging situation involving their dog who suffered from a non-healing corneal ulcer for two months, despite various antibiotic treatments. Seeking specialized care, they made an appointment with Northwest Animal Eye Specialists and met Dr. Zirofsky for the initial examination. The reviewer was impressed with Dr. Zirofsky's thorough explanation of the dog's condition and the proposed best course of treatment. They appreciated the time Dr. Zirofsky took with them and found her knowledge and kindness reassuring. Initially, they opted for a two-week trial of EyeQ amniotic eye drops, but when this did not resolve the issue, they proceeded with a grid keratotomy surgery, which was scheduled relatively quickly and took only about two hours under sedation. The reviewer provides a transparent account of the post-operative period, noting an initial bluish appearance and discharge, followed by significant improvement from day four onwards. A bandage lens was applied and remained in place for approximately ten days. A follow-up appointment with Dr. Zirofsky two weeks post-surgery revealed that the dog's eye had completely healed. Dr. Zirofsky conducted another thorough examination and shared her professional opinion. Regarding the cost, the reviewer found it to be "reasonable." While the initial examination seemed somewhat expensive, they compared the cost of stain tests and medications (of the same kind) with other clinics and found it to be comparable to a regular vet's price and even cheaper than urgent care clinics. The surgery cost itself was as expected, and the clinic provided a detailed breakdown of the expenses. Overall, the reviewer expresses immense satisfaction with their choice of clinic and feels fortunate to have met Dr. Zirofsky, thanking her for her care.

While one reviewer noted the distance from Seattle, the fact that they found the care "worth every penny" implies that the clinic offers a level of expertise and service that justifies the travel. The caring and reassuring demeanor of the veterinarians, as highlighted in both reviews, likely contributes to a comfortable and trusting environment for both pets and their owners.

Feb 04, 2025 · Ayla LujanMy dog suffered from non healing corneal ulcer for 2 months. We tried different kinds of antibiotics but it just didn’t go away. She, my dog, was constantly symptomatic (squinting, edema, tears), so we made an appt with this eye clinic. We met Dr. Zirofsky for initial exam, and she well explained what was going on with her eye and what would be the best treatment for it. She took her time with us and reassured us with her knowledge and kindness. We decided to try eyeQ amniotic eye drop first for 2 weeks to see if it would do the magic; It didn’t. So the next best option was getting a grid keratotomy surgery. We could get that scheduled fairly quickly, and the surgery was only like 2 hours with sedation. First 2-3 days after surgery, her eye became bluish with discharges, but it started looking much better from day 4. They put a bandage lense, which lasted about 10 days. We met Dr. Zirofsky 2 weeks after the surgery, and my dog’s eye was completely healed!! She once again thoroughly examined my dog’s eyes and shared her opinions. Cost-wise, I honestly think it was reasonable. Yes, initial examination seemed to be a bit expensive, but when I compared stain test and medicine (same kinds) with other clinics, it was close to regular vet’s price and cheaper than urgent clinics. And the surgery cost itself was as expected and they provided detailed list. So overall, I am glad I chose this clinic, and my dog and I feel lucky that we met Dr. Zirofsky. Thank you!
Sep 17, 2023 · Amanda K.Honestly the worst customer service ever, I tried reaching out to them for 2 months straight including the vet herself, with no response at all. My 3 year old pup went completely blind in her right eye in the process of trying to schedule. I have full coverage pet insurance so the cost was no issue, it could have been a $5,000 exam and I would have paid it to save her eyesight. Thank God I found 2 phenomenal specialists in Mountlake Terrace and Silverdale who are now helping to save her left eye. This vet has no decency to even respond to a personalized email regarding my pup and from a direct referral. I would never give them my business after this horrible experience.
Dec 18, 2024 · Abbie DelaneyHi, we had an appointment scheduled for today and we've been here since our appointment time but the door has a sign that says closed. We called your phone number and the Renton branch number, and our regular vet (VCA West Seattle) also called both locations to inquire for us, but nobody picked up. Your Google Maps location says it's open but the phone line says you're closed and yet states that you are open from 8am-5:30pm Mon-Thurs, and that you are available to answer phone calls between 8:15am-5pm. We had to medicate our dog with heavy anxiety medications the night before and today for this appointment as advised by our regular vet, but now we don't know what's going on and feel terrible for medicating our dog when he might not be seen today. We booked one month out and also both took time off work for this appointment. Please give us an explanation for this.
Jul 25, 2024 · Annie ZhouI had the BEST experience with Northwest Animal Eye Specialists. After several visits to the vet, tests, medications, and months of no improvement for a continuous eye infection, my vet referred me to a list of specialists with a diagnosis of suspected entropion (lower eye lid curling inwards towards eye). Because there are no animal eye specialists near Bellingham and the borders are currently closed to non-essential travel, all of these specialists were down South. I chose NWAES because they were the closest, but now I will choose them hands-down if my pets ever need special eye care again. I had to cancel multiple appointments for my cat due my own health problems and NWAES was understanding and patient every time. Our visits down there for the three appointments were quick and painless. The vet techs/assistants reception and surgeon are all very warm & friendly, helpful, and informative. They are also very upfront about costs and give you an itemized quote beforehand which I found very helpful. The entropion surgery worked very well. I was a little nervous when the surgeon told me she likes to over-correct as sometimes if you do normal correction, it has a greater chance of coming back. I decided on the over correction hoping he wouldn't be left with a gaping/droopy eye lid. It healed up perfectly and his pretty little cross-eye is back to full health again! I always felt he was in good hands and cared for every time I brought him in. They even decorated his cone of shame with stickers and his name. I highly recommend NWAES!
