I have personally known and worked with Dr. Lubana for over 15 years. If you are looking for a honest, thorough, and compassionate vet that will give you results and excellent bedside manner for your pet then you need to make an appt at Northville Animal Hospital. The facility is beautiful and well stocked. He and his staff are top notch. Fine for general care, although a little pricey. But if you note your dog having possible back issues, run and go elsewhere. We were told by Dr. Lubana, our 5 year old dachshund had inflammation in his back. He could tell by feeling it. The typical meds were prescribed for this and we did a short laser therapy session with 5 more to follow in the next 10 days. Turns out our dog had IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) which my wife had to ask him to find out this was the case. She said what's his official diagnosis. It was not mentioned until then. We were given NO care or take home instructions on how to handle him which ended up in a fatal result. The next day after a run down the hallway, our dog yelps in horrible pain and his back legs are now dragging. I rush him back in. Then I'm told he now has "full blown" IVDD. After doing our own research on IVDD, we discovered there are 5 stages of it, NONE of which were explained to us. Even at stage 1 with no mobility loss which was on our first visit, anywhere you look online or read about this disease, it says restricted movement and CRATE REST. Again, none of this was explained to us. All the doctor said on the first visit was to lift him to go up steps, which again my wife had to ask to get that information. He was now at Stage 5, prescribed more meds, then finally we were told crate rest. And after 2 weeks we can see a specialist if none of that is working. WRONG. He needed surgery and fast after getting to a neurologist the next day, who said he had only a 5% chance of walking again with the treatment prescribed, or a 50/50 chance with surgery. One other detail and word never mentioned by Dr. Lubana: Myelolamacia and the possibility of it. A fatal condition of a stage 5 IVDD injury which can occur in 10-15% of dogs regardless of surgery. Well, our dog developed that that in post op. and we had no choice but to put him down, as it causes complete paralysis and respiratory issues eventually leading to suffocation. If we had gone with the suggested conservative treatment, our dog would have suffered a painful death then if we hadn't caught it when we did with our neurologist. You like to think you can get reliable and accurate information from your vet, as opposed to a lack of it. This was a complete fail from start to finish. If we ever get a new dog, we will NOT be returning to Northville Animal Hospital.

My poor kitty was blocked and could not pee and was in so much pain and not being himself at all. My appointment was smooth. And the Dr. Always showed me the prices. They fixed my kitty in a couple hours and i picked him up the same day. 2 days later he is back already doing everything he was before.❤️ so thankful

2 issues at this office led me to finally make a switch, unfortunately. First - brought my cat in for a strange wound on his abdomen. Dr. Lubana’s insisted that one of my dogs had bit him, I disagreed for many reasons. The wound did not heal and came back a month later and Dr. L said surgery was needed which was in excess of $1000. The wound came back AGAIN in which I got a second opinion. Biopsy results showed it as a fungal infection. So this explains why antibiotics and surgery did not fix the issue. $30 worth of anti fungal meds, however, did. Second - brought my dog in for her annual visit and wanted bloodwork done so she could have a dental cleaning. I asked twice for an estimate of the cost of dental and never received it. It took 30 minutes to get a blood draw, they said the vein kept moving? Then the blood results came back with very bizarre results. Extraordinarily low glucose and high potassium. The first vet I spoke to said this was of no concern as long as she didn’t have symptoms. Dr. L said I needed a $400 test to check for Addisons disease. I opted for a second opinion and the new vet looked at the result and said “the results look like they came from either an old blood sample or that the blood was taken from a clot”. That makes sense, since it took them 30 minutes to get a vial of blood. They recommended repeat blood work (which was half the price that I just paid) and it came back absolutely perfect. That said, this vet can get you in quickly for urgent but not emergency issues. Be prepared to wait up to an hour for your appointments. They are extremely reluctant to let you use Chewy and are often out of meds or give you almost expired meds.

Tonight my dog ate a ton of dark chocolate. Dr. Lubana was wonderful! They kept the office open late to help my dog. They are a wonderful clinic. Highly recommend.
