Welcome to Northside Veterinary Hospital
Northside Veterinary Hospital, located at 1091 W Moore Rd, Hillsdale, MI 49242, USA, operates within the Pet Hospital category, aiming to provide veterinary care to the local community. When choosing a pet hospital, it's essential to consider various aspects, including the environment, services offered, and the experiences of other pet owners. Publicly available reviews can offer valuable insights into these factors.
One reviewer describes Northside Veterinary Hospital as "the best veterinary service we have ever visited," highlighting the expertise of "Doctor Wood and all the other doctors" as "top notch." This positive feedback also praises the staff as "super helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and prepared," and mentions that this client drives over an hour each way to receive care at this facility. Such a long commute suggests a high level of satisfaction and trust in the services provided.
However, another review presents a significantly different experience. This reviewer expresses deep disappointment with the clinic's handling of a serious emergency involving a five-month-old kitten that had ingested lilies, a known toxin for cats. According to this account, the initial cost to be seen was $195, followed by an additional $95 for a consultation with animal poison control, as the clinic allegedly did not have an in-house poison consultant. The reviewer states that after a three-hour wait and the consultation, they were presented with a treatment plan exceeding $2,000. Unable to afford this, the reviewer claims their requests for alternative outpatient treatment options were denied, and they were advised to try another vet. This individual ultimately found a solution involving activated charcoal at a significantly lower cost and reports their kitten's full recovery, contrary to the clinic's alleged prognosis. The reviewer strongly advises against visiting Northside Veterinary Hospital, labeling it a "scam" focused solely on financial gain and suggesting that positive reviews may be inauthentic.
Considering these contrasting experiences, it is challenging to provide a definitive picture of the environment and overall services at Northside Veterinary Hospital based solely on these two reviews. The positive review suggests a competent and caring team, while the negative review paints a picture of high costs, a lack of flexible treatment options in an emergency situation, and potentially dismissive follow-up. Without further information or a broader range of reviews, it's difficult to objectively assess the typical environment and standard practices of the clinic.
Regarding the services offered, based on the limited information, it can be inferred that Northside Veterinary Hospital provides emergency services and consultations, potentially involving external poison control resources. The mention of a $2,000+ treatment plan suggests the capability for more intensive medical interventions. However, the specifics of routine services, preventative care, surgical procedures, or diagnostic capabilities are not detailed in these reviews.
In terms of features, the positive review highlights the expertise of the veterinarians and the helpfulness of the staff. The negative review, conversely, raises concerns about the cost of emergency care, the reliance on external poison control, and the perceived lack of willingness to explore more affordable treatment options. The stark contrast in these accounts makes it difficult to identify consistent features of the clinic's approach to patient care and client communication.
No promotional information is available in the provided text. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any special offers or programs that Northside Veterinary Hospital might provide.
Given the significant disparity in the two provided reviews, local users considering Northside Veterinary Hospital may want to seek additional information from various sources, such as other online review platforms or direct inquiries to the clinic. It is important to weigh all available feedback and consider individual pet health needs and financial circumstances when making a decision about veterinary care.
The positive review indicates a high level of satisfaction with the veterinary expertise and staff support, leading to a long-term commitment from a client traveling a considerable distance. This suggests that some pet owners have found the quality of care to be exceptional. However, the detailed negative review raises serious concerns about the handling of an emergency situation, transparency regarding costs, and the perceived prioritization of expensive treatments over exploring more accessible alternatives. The starkness of these contrasting experiences underscores the importance of thorough research and due diligence when selecting a veterinary provider.
In conclusion, the available reviews for Northside Veterinary Hospital in Hillsdale, Michigan, present a mixed picture. One reviewer praises the clinic as the "best veterinary service" they have encountered, while another recounts a deeply negative experience during a pet emergency, citing high costs and a lack of perceived compassion or alternative treatment options. Without a broader consensus from multiple sources, it is challenging to form a definitive objective assessment of the clinic's environment, services, and features. Local users are advised to consider these differing perspectives and seek further information to make an informed decision about their pet's care.

Feb 25, 2025 · Russ SprinkleHonestly, I am very disappointed in these people and animal poison control, my lil kitten who is 5 months old had accidentally eaten some lilies that my boyfriend had gifted to me, which I found out was very poisonous when he threw up 10 times, I rushed to this vet due the fact that many vets told me to go there since it was serious emergency since the lilies can kill my lil kitten from the toxins. I got there and it was 195 just to be seen which I understand since I thought they were gonna take action and help my baby get the toxins out of his body but no they just checked his vitals and told me to wait in a room with my lil kitten for 3 hours, while they were on the phone with animal poison control which was a another 95 dollars cause they didn’t have a poison consultant, which i honestly didn’t mind because i thought they were gonna help my little kitty like I said but they didn’t, they came back into the room with 2,000+ bill telling me that this was the only option if my kitty was gonna make it but, I can’t afford that so I was heart broken I asked if maybe they could keep figuring something for out patient treatment but no they came back and told me I had no other solutions and I could try another vet I was crying i was letting everything out and they said they wanted to help but honestly I don’t they really did, I started to google some solutions and I found one it was activated charcoal powder mixed in with wet food and a lot of wet food and and water, which cost me about 30 dollars overall which honestly helped, they told me he wasn’t gonna make it many times if I took him home but he now thriving, please do not go here it is a scam and they only want your money I tried calling them today and tell them about the out patient treatment so other people like me who couldn’t afford it can maybe save their cats life but they seem like that’s didn’t care and told me “ok that’s good and asked if I wanted to leave a message for their manger” they didn’t care honestly just so disappointed I’m glad I left and took action please don’t go here. All the 5 star reviews are fake please read the real reviews on yelp and google.
