Highly highly recommend! The techs are so nice and patient. The Veterinarian is also so kind and patient, you can tell they really care, and are very knowledgeable. One of our boys is a basket case at the vet, needs a muzzle and all. They were patient, they didn't show fear, and didn't make us feel like bad dog parents. Best vet office I've ever experienced. Thank you so much! 馃┑

Environment

The environment at North Winds Veterinary Services is frequently praised by clients for its welcoming and patient-centric approach. While the physical layout is designed to be functional for veterinary procedures, the atmosphere is notably influenced by the staff's demeanor. Reviewers consistently highlight the staff's kindness and patience, particularly with animals that may be anxious or fearful during vet visits. One client specifically mentioned that even their "basket case" dog, who typically needs a muzzle, was handled with remarkable patience and understanding, making the owners feel at ease rather than judged. This indicates a conscious effort to create a low-stress environment. The facility is described as being very clean, contributing to a professional and hygienic setting for animal care. This commitment to a positive and calm environment, coupled with a visibly caring staff, sets a reassuring tone for pet owners when they bring their beloved animals in for treatment.

Services

North Winds Veterinary Services offers a diverse range of veterinary services, aiming to meet the comprehensive health needs of their animal patients. As a "Pet Hospital," their offerings extend beyond basic check-ups, encompassing diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical interventions. While specific details on every service might require direct inquiry, general services typically provided by a facility of this nature include:

  • General Wellness and Preventive Care: This includes routine examinations, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and nutritional counseling, all aimed at maintaining long-term pet health and preventing disease.

  • Diagnostic Services: Equipped with diagnostic tools, they likely offer in-house laboratory testing (such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams) and digital imaging (X-rays) to accurately diagnose medical conditions. Some information suggests the availability of advanced diagnostics like ultrasound and digital X-ray, potentially for both small and large animals.

  • Surgical Procedures: Common surgical services such as spaying and neutering are typically offered, along with other soft tissue surgeries as needed. Client reviews mention procedures requiring animals to be "put under," indicating a capacity for surgical interventions.

  • Emergency and Urgent Care: While not explicitly a 24/7 emergency center, client testimonials suggest that North Winds Veterinary Services makes an effort to accommodate urgent cases, with one review mentioning getting an animal in "in THIRTY minutes" for a procedure, even without prior records.

  • Pain Management: Veterinary practices commonly offer pain management solutions for chronic conditions or post-surgical recovery.

  • Dental Care: Oral health is a crucial aspect of overall pet well-being, and most comprehensive vet services include dental examinations and cleanings.

  • Euthanasia Services: Client reviews specifically mention the compassionate handling of end-of-life care, indicating that this is a service provided, often with great sensitivity and support for grieving owners.

  • Large Animal Services: While the primary focus of some reviews is on small animals, additional information suggests North Winds Veterinary Services also provides large animal veterinary care, particularly with a focus on equine (horse) lameness and reproduction. This includes a clinic, reproductive facility, and equipment like endoscopy and pro-stride.

Features

Several features distinguish North Winds Veterinary Services and contribute to its positive reputation:

  • Highly Knowledgeable and Caring Veterinarians: The veterinarians, specifically praised as "so kind and patient" and "very knowledgeable," form the backbone of the hospital's reputation. Their ability to connect with animals, even difficult cases, is a standout feature.

  • Patient and Empathetic Support Staff: The veterinary technicians are consistently described as "so nice and patient," creating a supportive atmosphere for both pets and their owners. This is crucial for managing pet anxiety during visits.

  • Reasonable Pricing: Clients frequently commend the "pretty reasonable prices," which makes quality veterinary care more accessible to the community. One client was "shocked at how affordable it was!!!" after a procedure.

  • Quick Accommodation for Urgent Cases: The ability to "get us in quickly" for appointments, even for urgent situations, is a highly valued feature, especially in times of crisis.

  • Acceptance of New Patients with Flexibility: The hospital has demonstrated a willingness to accept new patients, even for urgent procedures, without requiring extensive prior vet records, which is a significant relief for pet owners in distress.

  • Clean Facility: The hospital's cleanliness is noted, contributing to a professional and sanitary environment for pet care.

  • Mixed Animal Practice Capabilities: The inclusion of large animal services, particularly equine, expands their reach and expertise within the veterinary field, providing a broader scope of care compared to exclusively small animal practices.

It is important to note, however, that while the clinical staff and veterinarians receive overwhelmingly positive feedback, some client reviews have pointed out that the front desk staff, on occasion, may not always be as friendly or welcoming. While this does not detract from the quality of medical care, it is an aspect of the overall client experience that has been mentioned.

Promotional Information

North Winds Veterinary Services primarily promotes itself through its strong reputation for quality care and client satisfaction. While specific advertising campaigns are not detailed, the following aspects would form the core of their promotional message:

  • Word-of-Mouth and Testimonials: The numerous highly positive reviews serve as powerful endorsements. The consistent praise for the veterinarians and technicians, their patience, knowledge, and kindness, is a key promotional asset.

  • Affordable and Accessible Care: Highlighting their "reasonable prices" and ability to get patients in quickly for urgent needs are significant draws for pet owners.

  • Compassionate Handling of Anxious Pets: Emphasizing their ability to manage fearful or difficult animals with patience and no judgment is a strong selling point for owners of such pets.

  • Comprehensive Services for Diverse Animals: Promoting their capacity to care for both small companion animals and large animals (like horses) broadens their appeal to a wider range of pet owners in the agricultural and rural community.

  • Trust and Reliability: The focus on making difficult situations, such as end-of-life care, as compassionate and supportive as possible builds deep trust within the community.

Prospective clients can reach North Winds Veterinary Services at (570) 650-4368 for appointments or inquiries. Our vet is awesome. She is so kind and caring to our animals. The prices are pretty reasonable and they always get us in quickly. The only reason I didn鈥檛 give 5 stars is because the two girls at the front desk are just not friendly at all. We have been here a dozen times and they are always so short with us. I don鈥檛 think I鈥檝e even seen them smile before.

We have 3 dogs and two cats. They take such great care of them. So glad we started going there. Everyone is so caring and compassionate. The couple of times we had emergencies they took our pet right in, and they gave them proper treatment. They have our animals as patients for as long as they are in business.

I am new to the area and I have 3 kitties. One has diabetes and gets sick from time to time. Needing to establish a new vet, I read through my fair share of reviews to choose which one to go to. I see this vet has quite a few positive reviews, however I had a horrible experience here. I had an appointment this morning for my 3 cats. 2 for annuals and vaccines and the diabetic one for a sick visit. I made 3 appointments for all 3 cats. The vet I saw was Dr Dana and she was horribly rushed. Would not take the time to talk to me or listen to me tell her about their past medical history. She would interrupt me and could care less about what was going on with my sick cat who was having diarrhea throughout my house! She was unprofessional and very rude. She told me she had to rush the appointment because I had 3 cats and I arrived late. I did tell her I was 4 minutes late to the appointment, and that was no need to be so rude and short. She proceeded to tell me in the future I have to bring one at a time for different appointments. I told her I work 8-5 M-F I can't be taking time off from work like that and she told me it is what it is. She never checked the diabetic cats blood sugar, never did any tests or blood work. Gave me an antibiotic for his diarrhea, vaccinated the other 2 listened to everyone's hearts and she had me and my 3 cats in and out in 35 minutes. Bare minimum exams, but surely, I was charged full price. Not to mention the way she grabbed their scruff and yanked the scared kitties from their carriers. I did talk to the woman out front when I paid about this experience, and she confirmed I had 3 appointments for my cats back to back. Why I would need to make separate trips on separate days for each cat makes no sense. Just so unprofessional, rude and did the bare minimum for my babies. I was so frustrated and distraught, I was in tears on my way home. Use a different vet or go somewhere else is all I can say. I read the positive reviews too and had one if the worst vet experiences ever.

When you make and confirm 3 SEPARATE appointments for 3 cats, the expectation is for each one to be given proper attention and care. Instead, Dr. Dana RUSHED through what should've been 3 appointments and combined them into one. Quality of care was pitiful at best by Dr. Dana who kept saying because the appointment started late, she needed to rush. GPS stated arrival 4 minutes late. 5-6 minutes total getting to a patient room to wait for Dr. Dana to come in, but puts why she's rushing through 3 separate appointments on the 5-6 minute delay and because there are 3 of them. If you are looking for a Vet who takes the time to treat your pets' needs, never ask for Dr. Dana or try somewhere else. The experience was incredibly impersonal and transactional.
