Welcome to North Shore Veterinary Hospital
Located at 835 Fort Salonga Rd, Northport, NY 11768, USA, North Shore Veterinary Hospital is a deeply rooted institution in the Northport community, offering comprehensive veterinary care with a legacy spanning over 90 years. Established in 1931 by Dr. Arthur W. Fredericks, this Pet Hospital has evolved from a practice serving horses and cows on dirt roads to a modern facility dedicated to the health and well-being of beloved companion animals. The hospital prides itself on upholding family values and delivering cutting-edge, compassionate medicine, striving to provide each client with the most comprehensive care available for their four-legged family members.
The enduring quality of care at North Shore Veterinary Hospital is consistently praised by its clientele. A first-time visitor expressed immense satisfaction: "I brought my dog in today for the first time after she hurt her nail, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming, caring, and professional. They treated my pup with so much love and patience, and made sure she was comfortable throughout the visit. Everything was explained clearly, and I felt confident that she was in great hands. Thank you for taking such good care of her—we’ll definitely be coming back!" This highlights the immediate sense of trust and comfort the clinic fosters. Another powerful testament comes from an owner whose dog suffered from severe allergies: "All the Drs here are great and really take the time to take great care of my pup. He has been suffering from the worst allergies and i have been to multiple vets and was only ever offered allergy shots and cytopoint injections.. which helped but not nearly as much as it should have. It really only masked my pups symptoms and did not fully take them away. Dr. Justin took time with my pup and i and answer all of my questions thoroughly and explained them in ways i was able to understand. My Archie is finally looking like a normal pup again after Dr. Justin prescribed us some new meds and prescription diet. The before and after says it all!!!" This review specifically commends Dr. Justin (Dr. Justin Sommermeyer, an Associate Veterinarian at the hospital) for his thoroughness, clarity in explanation, and successful treatment of a persistent issue, showcasing the expertise and dedication of the veterinary team.
The environment at North Shore Veterinary Hospital is described as welcoming, caring, and professional, cultivating a sense of comfort for both pets and their owners. Nov 03, 2023 · Jessica ForcierI couldn't be any happier with my experience at North Shore Veterinary Hospital. I'll explain why. Here's my story: My 70 pound pitbull named Muggzie got into the trash and ate grapes. Little did I know grapes are very toxic for dogs and my dog was suffering from food poisoning and dehydration. She was throwing up all over, diarrhea with blood in it and laying on the ground to the point were I thought she was giving up on life. Of course I google searched what she ate and many people said that it can potentially be fatal because it can cause kidney failure. I took her to an emergency place on Long Island at about midnight. Little did I know, I felt like I was on a reality TV show (deal or no deal). The staff comes out with a piece of paperwork that was several thousand dollars for the services and wanted 2/3's up front. Then when I refused because the price was outrageous they came to me with a few other "plans". The sales tactics of financially benefitting off of someone in a bind does not fly with me, period. At this point it was about 4am and my dog was in bad shape but I believed she could make it into the morning. North Shore Veterinary opening at 8:45 AM so I figured if I stayed with her for 4 hours she will be ok. That's what I did. I kept her up and made her drink water and cleaned up the throw up hour after hour. Arrival at North Shore: I arrived there about 8:00 am because I didn't sleep and was focused on getting there. I was waiting for the staff to come in. The owner, Mr. Fredericks arrived at 8:25 AM. He seen I was waiting outside and approached my truck. Take in mine this man didn't even unlock the front door...He still had his bag in his hands. He asked me "Is everything ok?". He was concerned for my dog and I immediately felt a sense of comfort. I told Mr. Fredericks my story and they took my dog in. After two days of treatment and an overnight stay at another place, my dog is back to 75-100%. They gave me medicines for my dog and special food and advised me on post treatment. Follow up: Two days later after treatment my dog was home and slept like a baby. She woke up in the morning and looked even better and was so happy to be home. Mr. Fredericks himself voluntarily gave me a courtesy call, a follow up in the AM to see how my dog was doing. The service, hospitality and experience was pleasant. I will recommend this facility to anyone. The cost of the entire procedures including overnight stays was very honest and I was happy to pay them.
Sep 10, 2020 · AAA Metal & DesignThe Doctors and staff are all very companionate to both the pet and the owner. We have been going there for over 18 years. They have proven to be trustworthy as well as being very fair. I know going to the Vet can be a stressful experience so, If that's the case, this is the place. We just love Dr. Mike, we have been going to him for years. They saved our little girl where others wanted to just put her to sleep. We will Never forget what they did and how we were treated.
