I had the awful experience of saying goodbye to my best friend when my dog was put to rest. All of the staff were so kind and caring, and I was given the time and privacy to grieve. The cremation service they used was very timely, professional, and thoughtful. North Boros made a horrible situation as comforting as possible and I cant thank them enough.

Welcome to North Boros Veterinary Hospital

North Boros Veterinary Hospital, located at 2255 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, USA, stands as a well-regarded "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care to the local community. With a commitment to animal well-being and a highly experienced team, North Boros Veterinary Hospital aims to be a trusted partner in your pet's health journey, from routine check-ups to complex medical needs and sensitive end-of-life care.

The facility itself strives to offer a welcoming and comfortable environment for both pets and their owners. While specific details on the architectural design or waiting area amenities are not explicitly available, the overarching theme conveyed by client testimonials suggests an atmosphere of kindness and understanding. The staff's demeanor contributes significantly to this, aiming to make what can often be a stressful experience for pets and their owners as calm and reassuring as possible. The focus is on creating a space where pets feel safe and owners feel heard and supported, especially during difficult times.

North Boros Veterinary Hospital provides a broad spectrum of services, catering to the diverse health requirements of companion animals. Their preventative healthcare approach emphasizes regular veterinary evaluations to assess a pet's overall health and identify potential risks early. This includes recommendations for nutrition, dental care, vaccinations, and heartworm/flea/tick prevention, all tailored to each pet's specific needs and risk factors. The hospital aligns with the American Veterinary Medical Association's recommendation of two visits per year for companion animals – one for urinalysis and blood work, and another for vaccines – recognizing that pets age significantly faster than humans and their health can change rapidly.

Key services offered include:

  • Wellness Exams: Comprehensive physical examinations to monitor overall health and detect any developing issues.

  • Vaccinations: Essential immunizations against common and potentially fatal diseases. This includes core canine vaccines such as those protecting against Canine Adenovirus (CAV-1 and CAV-2, which cause hepatitis and respiratory disease), Canine Parvovirus, and Canine Parainfluenza. They also provide rabies vaccinations as required.

  • Dental Care: Recognizing the critical importance of oral health, North Boros Veterinary Hospital offers professional dental cleaning and polishing, which typically require general anesthesia for the pet's safety and comfort. They also provide guidance and products for at-home dental care, such as take-home dental kits, dental treats, and dental food.

  • Surgery: The hospital is equipped with a surgical suite and their veterinarians are skilled in a wide range of procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, foreign-body removals, growth/tumor removals, and other complicated soft-tissue surgeries. They emphasize ensuring the pet is in a safe and friendly environment for surgical procedures.

  • Diagnostic Services: While specific diagnostic tools are not detailed, a comprehensive veterinary hospital would typically offer in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis), radiography (X-rays), and potentially ultrasound capabilities to aid in accurate diagnosis.

  • Prescription Diets & Supplements: The hospital provides access to a variety of prescription diets and nutritional supplements to support pets with specific dietary needs or health conditions.

  • Parasite Prevention: Offering a range of heartworm and flea/tick control products to protect pets from common parasites.

  • Pet Care and Pet Health Educational Aids: The hospital aims to empower pet owners with knowledge, providing educational resources to help them make informed decisions about their pet's health.

  • End-of-Life Support and Euthanasia: As highlighted by several testimonials, North Boros Veterinary Hospital provides empathetic and supportive end-of-life care, including euthanasia services. This compassionate approach during a pet owner's most difficult time is a significant feature, with staff ensuring privacy and time for grieving, and coordinating professional cremation services.

A distinctive feature of North Boros Veterinary Hospital, as gleaned from client feedback, is the profound compassion and care exhibited by the entire staff, from receptionists to veterinary technicians and veterinarians. Multiple reviews consistently praise the team's kindness, understanding, and genuine love for animals, even in the most challenging circumstances like euthanasia. The staff's dedication to treating each animal as if it were their own, providing personalized attention and going the extra mile to research treatments, underscores their commitment to patient care. The availability of walk-in hours is a convenience, though customers advise arriving early due to their popularity and busy schedule, indicating a high demand for their services.

Regarding promotional information, North Boros Veterinary Hospital focuses on providing comprehensive and accessible care. While specific, time-sensitive promotions are not widely advertised on publicly available information, they do highlight ways for clients to manage costs. They accept pet insurance for unexpected accidents and illnesses and may work with treatment financing solutions like CareCredit, allowing pet owners to space out payments for larger expenses. Additionally, they have partnered with Vetsource to offer an online storefront for convenient ordering of medications, food, and other pet products. This partnership aims to save pet owners time and potentially money on veterinary costs. The hospital also offers a "Pet Portal" service free of charge to clients with active email addresses, which allows owners to manage their pet's healthcare and medication schedules, communicate with the hospital online, and access information about their pet's health and life stage issues. This proactive communication and resource provision are key elements of their service delivery.

In summary, North Boros Veterinary Hospital positions itself as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" that prioritizes compassionate and high-quality veterinary care. Its environment fosters a sense of trust and comfort, and its services cover a wide range of needs from preventative care to complex medical and surgical procedures, with a notable strength in empathetic end-of-life support. The positive testimonials consistently highlight the staff's genuine care and professionalism, making it a highly recommended choice for pet owners in Pittsburgh, PA.

I took my 16 year old blind senior mini poodle here at the recommendation of Senior Hearts rescue. Cannot say better things about the experience I had with North Boros! From Pierre's vaccinations, to all the panicked visits when his heart failure and mental health was declining and he stopped eating, to his final euthanasia shot at 18, the staff at North Boros really care about animals and love them. I just rescued a puppy and am taking her here as well. Go early for the walk-in hours because they are busy!!

The staff are very good, knowledgeable and caring. With that said, every time I take one of my pets there they all end up sick. This happened several times through the Years. 3 indoor cats, take one in for a checkup they all get sick. Upper respiratory infection, highly contagious. They don't disinfect the exam rooms and other areas good enough.
