THE GOOD: This has been our vet for almost 25 years. The doctors and and techs are sweet as pie. The prices are high but competitive (the whole industry seems to have gone nuts the past several years). Now for the bad. I brought my dog in for vaccinations and when he had a sour reaction the second round we were told to bring him in. They discovered he had been vaccinated 2x an was having a severe reaction. Winston was able to be treated and has recovered (thank goodness), but I WAS CHARGED FOR THAT VISIT. When it came out that it was the fault of the technician, a refund was promised. This refund never arrived. I went to the clinic to inquire and ask for cash (no capability to refund a card?). While Diana wanted to help me, her bosses boss doesn’t care about the customers or their pets. Almost two months and no response. And STILL NO ANSWERS.

Welcome to Nichols Veterinary Clinic

Welcome to Nichols Veterinary Clinic, a Pet Hospital located at 36912 Van Born Rd, Wayne, MI 48184, USA. Having served the community for nearly 25 years according to one long-term customer, the clinic is known for its team of doctors and technicians who are described as "sweet as pie." Nichols Veterinary Clinic aims to provide veterinary care for your pets, addressing their health needs through various services. However, recent customer experiences also raise some concerns that potential local users should be aware of.

As a Pet Hospital in Wayne, MI, Nichols Veterinary Clinic has a history within the community. Reviews suggest a dichotomy in customer experiences, with long-term patrons initially praising the caring nature of the medical staff, while more recent feedback points to issues with billing, communication, and follow-up. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the provided customer testimonials, highlighting both the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the clinic.

Our Environment: Caring Medical Staff, Potential Administrative Issues

Based on the reviews, the environment at Nichols Veterinary Clinic appears to be one where the doctors and technicians are generally regarded as "sweet as pie," indicating a caring and friendly demeanor from the medical professionals. However, one customer's experience of being over-vaccinated and subsequently charged for the follow-up visit, coupled with difficulties in obtaining a promised refund, suggests potential issues with administrative processes and customer service management. Another long-term customer also reported significant frustration with a lack of follow-up from a vet regarding their ill cat, despite multiple attempts to contact the clinic. This paints a picture where the direct medical care might be perceived positively, but the administrative and customer service aspects could be inconsistent.

Comprehensive Veterinary Services

Drawing from the customer experiences, Nichols Veterinary Clinic offers at least the following services:

  • Vaccinations: The clinic provides pet vaccinations, although one review details an incident of a pet receiving a double dose.
  • Treatment of Adverse Reactions: They treated a dog who had a severe reaction to a vaccination.
  • Medication Prescription: A customer mentioned being prescribed medication for their ill cat.
  • Fecal Testing (Implied): Standard vaccination protocols often include discussions about parasite prevention and may involve fecal testing, though this is not explicitly stated.

To gain a complete understanding of all the veterinary services offered at Nichols Veterinary Clinic, direct contact is recommended.

Features and Insights from Customer Experiences

The customer reviews offer contrasting insights into Nichols Veterinary Clinic:

  • Caring Medical Professionals: The doctors and technicians are described as "sweet as pie," indicating a compassionate approach to animal care.
  • Competitive Pricing (Potentially High): While prices are noted as "high," they are also deemed "competitive" within the current industry.
  • Billing Errors and Refund Issues: One customer was charged for a visit resulting from a technician's error (double vaccination), and a promised refund was not received after almost two months. The clinic reportedly lacked the capability to refund a card, raising questions about their payment processing system.
  • Poor Follow-Up Communication: A long-term customer experienced a lack of return calls from a vet regarding their ill cat, leading to significant frustration and a feeling of being "ghosted."
  • Inconsistent Customer Service Management: The experience with the unfulfilled refund suggests that management may not prioritize customer satisfaction or resolving errors efficiently.

These points highlight that while the medical staff may be perceived positively, there are significant concerns regarding administrative processes, billing accuracy, and follow-up communication that potential customers should consider.

Upon reading the reviews I can relate and agree to the positive reviews as I have been a customer for almost 25 years, but sadly I can now also relate and agree to the negative reviews with my recent experience. I have an ill cat and she was prescribed some medication and sent home. Long story short, I had to place a follow up call to get assistance with the medicine. I have called three times over the course of a week and left messages asking for the vet to call me to discuss. I never got a return call so either the vet in not interested in helping or is unable to help. I do not understand why I am being treated this way. I have always been a good customer. Almost 25 years and I have been ghosted by my vet, but much worse than that is my cat is not any better. So very frustrating and disappointing....

This place is really went downhill since it became corporate. They used to have great doctors in there. Now they charge you for test. Until you to use this medicine. And a month later when it doesn't work they tell you to come back in and want to charge you again and then actually try to charge you to do the same exact test they did a month ago over again. This place is turned into being more about making money than helping your animals. Pretty sad because a couple years ago the Vets they had in there were great!

We have been coming to this location for 14 years and have added 3 additions in that time. This place has really gone downhill since the previous owners sold it years back and have been thriving off their good reputation. Seems like there’s a high turnover rate at this location employee/vet wise the last few years. You see some new ones every time you arrive even if it’s just ten days later and when you ask, the old staff no longer works there. You can have a set appointment time, but they will still sit you in the lobby for an hour and then in the room for another hour before being seen. Had an appointment for 4PM and wasn’t seen until 7PM. On top of that, we missed an appointment (first in 14 years), and I need to pay 50 dollars in person before they will schedule our oldest dog his yearly shots…. not in person before the service is rendered but before an appt is even made. Too many frequent people in handout for you to stand on me missing anything. Nobody can even recall calling me or taking my call to cancel. Just go somewhere else.

This place has really gone down hill since the previous owners sold years back and have been thriving off their good reputation. Seems like there’s a high turnover rate at this location employee/vet wise the last few years. They charge 45 dollars to do a “wellness” exam which entailed the vet listing to my dogs breathing for about 30 seconds and then rubbed her back for about the same amount of time. What could you possible be examining in a little under a minutes time? At least do the exam you’re charging me for or change your billing to say that it’s an office visit fee which is basically what you’re doing with minimal effort from your vet. You can get the same exact care I got today at tractor supply which should not be the case. Get better Nichols and do your job be better for all the pets coming through your doors. And for new pet owners researching this isn’t the place read all the recent reviews and make an educated decision. If you pay attention they use chat gpt to reply to your complaints on here as well. They don’t even care enough to reply themself. It’s been 3 months now still waiting for you to contact me about my crappy experience in your office LIKE YOU SAID YOU WOULD, but I guess you don’t care about that either….. what a shame. At this point I wouldn’t trust this place with a hermit crab
