We can't thank Dr Wyman enough for saving our girl from heartworm! She recommended doing the American Heartworm Society 3 shot protocol, having done this procedure numerous times and never had it fail. It's been a long ride but it's over, thank you again! ❤️

As a local pet hospital, Newton Veterinary Hospital aims to provide veterinary care services for your beloved animals. Based on available online information, customer experiences appear to vary. One customer expressed immense gratitude for Dr. Wyman's successful treatment of their dog's heartworm using the American Heartworm Society 3-shot protocol.
However, another customer shared a less positive experience. They brought their dog in with severe neurological symptoms and reported that the veterinary staff stated they lacked the resources for testing and couldn't determine the cause, suggesting vertigo or meningitis. The customer received a nausea shot and medication for home, with a recommendation to see a neurologist if the condition didn't improve. This visit incurred a $300 charge for an "exam" without a detailed breakdown.
Subsequently, the same customer sought a second opinion from their regular vet, who quickly diagnosed vestibular disease and an ear infection. This highlights a discrepancy in diagnostic capabilities reported by this particular customer.
It's important for local pet owners to consider these varying experiences when choosing a veterinary care provider. We encourage you to contact Newton Veterinary Hospital directly to inquire about their specific services, facilities, and approach to animal care to make an informed decision for your pet's health needs.

Mar 27, 2025 · Rob MagrinoMy husband took our dog here over the weekend because our regular vet was unfortunately closed, and our poor dog was experiencing some severe neurological symptoms out of nowhere. The vet took her in the back to do an “exam” and told my husband they were not sure what the problem was because they didn’t have the resources to test her, and that there was no known cause. They told him that it may be a case of vertigo or possibly meningitis. They gave her a shot for the nausea and some nausea meds to take home, and said if she doesn’t improve within a few days to take her to a dog neurologist. We were charged $300 for an “exam” which was not even itemized or specified as to what was actually looked at. Today we took our dog to our regular vet to follow up with them and get a second opinion. They immediately diagnosed her with vestibular disease (which now knowing what the symptoms are is incredibly obvious even to an untrained person who is not a vet) and an ear infection (which is most likely the cause) within the first 5 minutes of seeing her. We were given antibiotics and a printed handout explaining vestibular disease causes and treatments. We were given all the answers we needed to this very scary issue with our sweet dog. It’s so incredibly frustrating to pay a ton of money at the emergency vet only for them to not even be able to diagnose a simple ear infection (which leads us to believe they didn’t even check her ears at all) with zero indication of what was looked at while she was being “examined” in the back room. Immediately jumping to meningitis and recommending a neurologist instead of actually knowing the glaringly obvious signs of a disease that many dogs suffer from is absolutely wild. Just wanted to share our personal experience because it has been a very scary few days and we really wish we had never gone here in the first place.
Apr 07, 2025 · LakotaTook our cat Charlie for a wellness check on Thanksgiving Eve - the staff shared cookies with Arthur and Jamie and the doctors made Charlie feel safe and comfortable. This is the vet who saved Charlie last year when he was dying in the middle of the night of an intestinal blockage - a great veterinary hospital - open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Highly recommend them.
Nov 29, 2024 · Susan KolbWe have had to bring our cats here (unfortunately) a couple times for emergency situations. Recently, I called on the way and when we arrived, they immediately took my cat back for care. Each time, the doctors, technicians, and office staff have been kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate to our pets and us. We are so thankful for their excellent care and clear communication. Thank you for being open 24/7! I highly recommend this animal hospital.
Feb 15, 2025 · Joanna JohnsonWhat a blessing Newton Veterinary Hospital was to my family this past early Monday morning 2/24/25. Our dog had gotten into something he shouldn't have without our knowledge and became very ill. I live in NY and our options for emergency veterinarians is dismal. Newton Veterinary was so kind and affordable and the staff that we interacted with were beyond exceptional. Our Freddie was brought in in rough shape at 1am, and he was home by 10:30 am, happy and back to his old self. I cannot thank Newton Veterinary Hospital enough for caring for our Fred. Your pets are your family, never feel like there are no options if they are suddenly ill. My end of the month finances were not great and I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable it was and they have credit options. We had Fred there within an hour and he was being helped immediately.
