After a bad experience with another vet, Sabrina and the team at Newport stepped in and exceeded expectations. They were with us every step until the end with our boy Finn, and I couldn’t have asked for a more caring and compassionate team. I would recommend them to anyone with a four legged family member. Thank you to all of the staff at Newport Animal Clinic. Hands down the best.

Welcome to Newport Animal Clinic

Welcome to Newport Animal Clinic, your local Pet Hospital situated at 295 Howard Blvd, Newport, NC 28570, USA. As a member of the Pet Hospital category, Newport Animal Clinic aims to provide veterinary care for your beloved animal companions. The online reviews present a dichotomy of experiences, with some clients praising the compassionate and supportive care, particularly during difficult times, while others express significant concerns regarding the availability of emergency services and the clinic's response to complaints. This introduction seeks to provide an objective overview based on the feedback available, highlighting both the positive and negative aspects reported by customers.

Details regarding the specific environment of Newport Animal Clinic are not extensively described in the provided reviews. However, one positive review mentions the team, including someone named Sabrina, stepping in after a bad experience with another vet and being supportive "every step until the end" with their pet. This suggests a caring and involved approach within the clinic setting. Conversely, the negative review focuses on the clinic's inability to see a sick dog for two consecutive days, implying potential limitations in appointment availability, especially during perceived emergencies. The update to the negative review further suggests a potentially contentious environment for clients who voice concerns, as the clinic reportedly removed the complainant as a client. Prospective clients may need to consider these contrasting viewpoints when evaluating the clinic's environment and overall client relations.

Based on the limited information in the reviews, we can infer some of the services that Newport Animal Clinic likely offers, as well as some insights into their operational policies and perceived limitations:

  • General Veterinary Services: As a Pet Hospital, they likely provide a range of general veterinary services, including wellness exams, vaccinations, and treatment for common illnesses.
  • End-of-Life Care: One positive review explicitly praises the team's support "until the end" with a pet, indicating that they offer compassionate end-of-life care and support for grieving owners.
  • Emergency Services (Advertised): The update to the negative review mentions the clinic advertising emergency services, which suggests this is a service they claim to provide. However, the reviewer's experience indicates a potential discrepancy between advertised services and actual availability.
  • Appointment Availability Limitations: The negative review details an instance where the clinic was reportedly unable to see an "extremely sick" dog for two consecutive days, citing a blocked-off day for an aggressive dog and no other availability, even in an emergency situation. This raises concerns about appointment availability, particularly for urgent cases.
  • Policy Regarding Client Complaints: The update to the negative review alleges that the clinic removes clients who complain, which could be a significant concern for pet owners who value open communication and the ability to address issues.
  • Consideration of Special Needs (Potentially Limited): The negative review mentions the owner's son being a paraplegic who chose the clinic due to wheelchair accessibility and the clinic's knowledge that the dog would not travel by car. The subsequent inability to secure emergency care raises questions about the clinic's flexibility in accommodating patients with specific needs or logistical challenges.

The features of Newport Animal Clinic, as perceived by the reviewers, present a stark contrast:

  • Positive Aspects:
    • Compassionate and Caring Team: The positive review highlights a caring and compassionate team, particularly during difficult times such as the end of a pet's life.
    • Highly Recommended by Some: The reviewer who experienced compassionate care states they would recommend the clinic to anyone with a four-legged family member and describes them as "hands down the best."
  • Negative Aspects (as reported by one reviewer):
    • Lack of Emergency Service Availability (Despite Advertising): The clinic was reportedly unable to see a very sick dog for two days, despite advertising emergency services.
    • Potentially Punitive Response to Complaints: The allegation of client removal for complaining is a serious concern regarding client relations.
    • Apparent Lack of Accommodation for Urgent Needs: The inability to provide care for a sick animal, even when accessibility was a known factor for choosing the clinic, raises questions about their flexibility in urgent situations.
    • Derogatory Comments in Response to Feedback: The reviewer mentions "derogatory comments" from the clinic in response to their complaint, indicating a potentially unprofessional approach to addressing negative feedback.

Currently, there is no promotional information available for Newport Animal Clinic in the provided reviews. Local users are advised to contact the clinic directly to inquire about any current promotions, new client specials, or wellness plans they may offer. Given the contrasting experiences reported, it would also be prudent to inquire about their policies regarding emergency appointments, after-hours care, and how they handle client feedback and concerns.

We strongly recommend calling to ask specific questions about their emergency service protocols, appointment availability, and how they address client concerns to determine if Newport Animal Clinic aligns with your pet care needs and expectations.

In conclusion, Newport Animal Clinic in Newport, NC, has received both high praise for compassionate end-of-life care and significant criticism regarding the availability of emergency services and client relations. While one customer highly recommends them for their caring approach, another details a concerning experience of being denied care for a sick pet and facing negative repercussions for voicing their dissatisfaction. Local users should carefully consider these differing perspectives and directly engage with the clinic to understand their current policies and services to make an informed decision about their pet's veterinary care.

For two days this office has not been able to see our dog who has been extremely sick. Yesterday was told they had blocked off the entire day for an aggressive dog and today just nothing available even in an emergency situation. Both days we have had to go to an emergency clinic. Shame on you guys for not taking care of your patients! Unacceptable!!!! Update: if you complain… instead of correcting the issue or offering an apology for not providing emergency services, they remove you as a client 😥 And after reading your derogatory comments, again YOU OFFER EMERGENCY SERVICES AND ADVERTISE same! My son called so how did “I” state anything!! Furthermore, Rufus is my son’s dog so how dare you punish him or Rufus over my dissatisfaction with your lack of ability to see River in an emergency! I do apologize if I misunderstood the day on which the reason for your unavailability was Tuesday instead of Monday!!!! But… does that really change the fact that neither day were you willing to help our sick animal! PS My son is a paraplegic and came to you because he can take his dog to you by wheelchair along with the KNOWN to your practice that Rufus will not get in a vehicle and hasn’t since the accident that left my son paralyzed! Shame on WHO!

They are overpriced, charge excessively for their meds and won’t give you the prescription to get them elsewhere. They don’t let you schedule without paying a portion up front which really didn’t seem to make a dent on the bill.

An awesome animal clinic. They took their time with my fur baby doggie. They discussed every detail and answered all my questions. I used them back in 2009 and they are still the best around. It's nice to know that an establishment like Newport Animal Clinic has kept their caring and love for animals throughout the years. Thank you Newport Animal Clinic for being here for my fur babies!

The staff is professional & amazing! We just moved here, so finding a good vet was a priority for our 2 pups. Daisy & Oscar were treated lovingly & they made sure all of my concerns were answered & that made it so much easier for the kids & me. Extra points for Sabrina I’ve never seen someone so organized & on top of all the little details. 🥰
