Welcome to Newburgh Veterinary Hospital, a dedicated pet hospital located at 1716 NY-300, Newburgh, NY 12550, USA. Serving the local community, Newburgh Veterinary Hospital aims to provide a range of veterinary services and goods to support the health and well-being of your beloved pets. As a pet hospital, the clinic offers a variety of services, potentially including routine check-ups, vaccinations, dental care, surgical procedures, diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, laboratory services, and emergency care. They can be contacted at (845) 564-2660 or via mobile phone at +1 845-564-2660.
Based on available information, including customer reviews, experiences at Newburgh Veterinary Hospital appear to vary significantly. One customer shared a deeply emotional experience regarding the compassionate care their leopard gecko received. Despite the unfortunate passing of their pet, the reviewer highlighted the kindness and compassion of the staff, noting the efforts made to ensure the gecko was comfortable and the thoughtful gesture of sending a letter with paw prints and flowers. This suggests that some members of the team are dedicated to providing empathetic support during difficult times and are willing to go the extra mile in showing care for both the animals and their owners.
However, another customer reported a highly negative experience, raising serious concerns about the quality of care provided. This review detailed several issues, including a perceived rush towards recommending a major exploratory surgery for their dog despite X-rays not showing conclusive evidence of an obstruction. The reviewer expressed feeling the recommendation was premature and lacked sufficient justification. Furthermore, the review described a traumatic experience with IV catheter placement, resulting in severe bruising and trauma to the dog's leg. The customer was shocked by the condition upon removing the bandage and reported a lack of adequate apology or accountability for this outcome. Additionally, the reviewer claimed that the medical records contained inaccuracies and did not accurately reflect the discussions and observations made during the visit. A particularly concerning point raised was the allegation that patients are left completely unsupervised overnight, which the reviewer deemed unacceptable and potentially dangerous for vulnerable animals.
Considering these contrasting experiences, it is important for local pet owners to approach Newburgh Veterinary Hospital with careful consideration. The positive review indicates a capacity for compassion and care, particularly in sensitive situations. The negative review, however, raises significant red flags regarding diagnostic procedures, surgical recommendations, technical skills in administering treatments like IV catheters, accuracy in record-keeping, and overnight patient care protocols.
When considering Newburgh Veterinary Hospital for your pet's care, it would be prudent to ask detailed questions about proposed treatments, understand the reasoning behind recommendations, and inquire about the experience and qualifications of the staff performing procedures. It would also be wise to discuss their overnight care policies and ensure you are comfortable with the level of monitoring provided. Requesting a thorough explanation of all procedures and potential risks is essential for making informed decisions about your pet's health.
For local users seeking a pet hospital in the Newburgh, NY area, Newburgh Veterinary Hospital presents itself as an option with a physical location and contact information readily available. They offer veterinary care services that typically encompass a range of medical and surgical procedures for pets. However, the contrasting customer experiences highlight the importance of due diligence when choosing a veterinary care provider. It is recommended that pet owners consider both the positive and negative feedback alongside their own interactions and assessments of the clinic and its staff.
As a pet hospital, Newburgh Veterinary Hospital likely aims to be a resource for the community, providing medical expertise and care for animals. The services offered would typically include preventative care such as vaccinations and parasite control, diagnostics like blood work and imaging, treatment for illnesses and injuries, and surgical interventions when necessary. Some pet hospitals also offer additional services such as dental cleanings, nutritional counseling, and behavioral advice.
Given the information available, potential features of Newburgh Veterinary Hospital could include a physical examination room, surgical suite, diagnostic imaging equipment (like X-ray), laboratory for in-house testing, and potentially boarding facilities. However, the negative review casts doubt on the quality of certain aspects of their service, particularly regarding the thoroughness of diagnostics, the necessity of surgical interventions, and the standard of post-procedural care and overnight supervision.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the given text. Typically, a pet hospital might promote services such as seasonal specials on vaccinations, discounts on dental cleanings, or introductory offers for new clients. They might also highlight specific areas of expertise or advanced equipment they possess. Without such information, it is difficult to comment on any promotional aspects of Newburgh Veterinary Hospital.
In conclusion, Newburgh Veterinary Hospital is a pet hospital located in Newburgh, NY, offering veterinary care services. While one customer review praises the compassionate care received, another raises serious concerns about diagnostic practices, surgical recommendations, technical skills, record-keeping, and overnight patient care. Local users should consider these contrasting experiences and conduct thorough due diligence, asking detailed questions and potentially seeking second opinions, to ensure their pets receive the best possible care. It is crucial for pet owners to feel confident and comfortable with their choice of veterinary provider.

Mar 08, 2025 · Mg hMy experience at Newburgh Veterinary Hospital was extremely disappointing and raised serious concerns about their quality of care. Despite performing X-rays that showed no clear signs of an obstruction, the veterinarian still pushed for immediate exploratory surgery — a major and invasive procedure — without any conclusive evidence. This felt rushed and irresponsible. Additionally, the IV catheter placement left my dog with severe bruising and trauma. When I removed the bandage at home, I was genuinely shocked by the condition of his leg. It looked barbaric. There is absolutely no reason any animal should be poked to that extent, and I’ve yet to receive any real apology or accountability for it. The medical records I later received also contained multiple inaccuracies and failed to reflect what was actually discussed or observed during the visit. To make matters worse, I learned that patients are left completely unsupervised overnight. Leaving vulnerable animals alone without monitoring is unacceptable and dangerous. Between the unnecessary push for surgery, the poor catheter placement, incorrect documentation, and lack of overnight care, I have lost all trust in this facility. I hope this review encourages others to ask questions and seek second opinions — our pets deserve better.
