Truly cannot recommend them enough. I needed a last minute health certificate for a PCS to Japan the day before and without being a patient they were able to get us in and issue all of my dogs paperwork for an insanely affordable price. Dr. McCoy and all the staff were so friendly and accommodating.

Welcome to New London Veterinary Treatment Facility

The New London Veterinary Treatment Facility, located at 521 Grayling Ave, Groton, CT 06340, USA, functions as a specialized "Pet Hospital" primarily catering to the unique needs of military families. This facility is renowned for its exceptionally affordable pricing, a significant benefit for service members and their dependents seeking veterinary care. While it provides essential services, its operational model and environment are distinct, shaped by its role within a military context.

The environment at the New London Veterinary Treatment Facility appears to be functional and designed to accommodate a high volume of patients, characteristic of a military-affiliated clinic. Reviews indicate that examination rooms can be "huge enough to accommodate myself and my family with tons of space left," suggesting ample physical space. However, specific policies regarding visitor numbers per room are strictly enforced, potentially leading to a less flexible or more rigid environment than a private practice. The internal reception for phone calls can be challenging, which might impact communication within the facility itself. Despite these operational considerations, the overall impression for many is that of a professional setting aiming to provide necessary care efficiently. Cleanliness and order are generally expected in a medical facility, and while specific details are not provided, the context of a military-run establishment often implies adherence to certain standards.

The services offered by the New London Veterinary Treatment Facility are tailored to meet the needs of military pet owners, with a strong emphasis on affordability. While a comprehensive list of all services isn't explicitly detailed, the reviews highlight several key offerings:

  • Health Certificates: A particularly valuable service for military families undergoing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves, especially to international destinations like Japan. The clinic is noted for its efficiency in issuing required paperwork, even on short notice, at a very affordable price. This is a critical service given the complex regulations for pet travel during military transfers.
  • Routine Veterinary Care: It's implied that the facility handles general check-ups, vaccinations, and basic medical treatments. The review about securing "treatment for my senior cat" suggests that they provide medical care for various conditions, although scheduling constraints might sometimes limit immediate advanced care.
  • Medication and Prescriptions: The mention of treatment requiring "medicine" indicates that the clinic dispenses necessary medications for pets.
Given its role as a veterinary treatment facility, it likely focuses on common health concerns and preventative care, acting as a primary care provider for pets within the military community. However, specialized or emergency services might be limited, or require referrals to off-base civilian veterinarians due to the facility's primary mission and operational constraints. The focus is on providing essential care at a cost-effective rate, which is a major draw for its clientele.

Several features distinctly characterize the New London Veterinary Treatment Facility. The most prominent is its insanely affordable pricing, which is a recurring theme in positive reviews. This cost-effectiveness is a significant advantage, particularly for military families who may face financial constraints during relocations or deployments. Another key feature is the staff's ability to be friendly and accommodating, as noted by a client who needed a last-minute health certificate without being a pre-existing patient. Dr. McCoy, specifically, is mentioned positively for her accommodating nature. This flexibility for urgent, non-routine requests, especially for critical needs like travel paperwork, demonstrates a commitment to supporting military families through their unique challenges. However, it's crucial to acknowledge some of the less favorable features mentioned in reviews. These include significant wait times, with appointments potentially being called 30 minutes late, and a perceived lack of adherence to timely schedules. Strict policies on the number of people allowed in examination rooms are enforced, which can be an inconvenience for families. Furthermore, some clients report nonexistent phone reception within the building, making external communication difficult during appointments. The vague pricing methods, where costs are "rattled off" without itemization, and a receptionist's perceived rudeness, are also areas noted for improvement. While the professionalism of the vet techs is often praised, the overall client experience can be inconsistent due to these operational and customer service challenges. The facility's primary benefit remains its cost, but clients should be prepared for potential procedural rigidities.

In terms of promotional information, the New London Veterinary Treatment Facility's primary appeal is its affordability for military personnel. While specific marketing campaigns are not detailed, the word-of-mouth recommendations among military families regarding their low prices are a powerful promotional tool. The facility's direct contact numbers, (860) 694-4291 for phone calls and +1 860-694-4291 for mobile calls, are crucial for accessing their services. Its address at 521 Grayling Ave, Groton, CT 06340, USA, clearly places it within reach of the local military base. The facility's capacity to handle critical documents like health certificates for international travel, even on short notice, is a strong point highlighted by satisfied customers. For military families seeking cost-effective and essential veterinary care, particularly for relocation needs, the New London Veterinary Treatment Facility offers a unique and valuable service, despite potential operational hurdles. Understanding these aspects in advance can help manage expectations and maximize the benefits of this resource.

I truly wish I could give a higher rating, but this place really gave a horrible impression. Our appointment was at 1:40pm. We arrived on time, even a few minutes earlier. The receptionist, Michelle, told us to sit down and that we would be helped quickly. 30 minutes later we were finally called back. The room was huge enough to accommodate myself and my family with tons of space left. Immediately, Michelle told us only two people per room. OK, understandable, but another military family who also had their kids in a room were given an allowance for some reason. I tried to get pricing for treatments but Michelle stood in the doorway, rattled off prices without showing me an itemization, and then shut the door. During this time I was trying to communicate over the phone what the prices were to my husband, but the reception in the building was nonexistent. So, my husband came back inside so I could discuss it with him. Within minutes, Michelle opened the door and rudely told him and my son to get out of the room. OK, fine. The vet tech came back in and asked what I decided on for treatment. Again, with their vague pricing i was unsure about what the total price would be. Unfortunately, we couldn't secure treatment for my senior cat because of time constraints, so we had to leave at 2:30. They don't stick to a timely schedule here. I'm not even sure the low prices here are worth it with the behavior of their receptionist. On a positive note, the vet tech was very kind.

HORRIBLE front desk. Called multiple days in a row with no answer only to be told not to leave a message. Can only schedule appointments 1 day per month and they were booked within 20 minutes. The office’s response to not answering their phone was for me to take time off of work and drive in to schedule an appointment….I thought that’s what phones were for. Comical.

They schedule annual checkups about a month out (not sure about sick visits), so plan accordingly. Easy to transfer records from previous vets. Vet and techs are very nice and provide clear information. Employees seemed to get along with each other well.

Prices are good but they never have any available appointments.
