*****Update: We had a heartfelt conversation with Amy, the manager for Mulnix. Mulnix apologized for our experience and has offered a full refund. Lastly, Amy clarified that our dog did not vomit because of the amount of times they were attempting to get the oxygen tube and oxygen flow to work, which was really comforting to us. Instead, our dog vomited when the anesthesia was initially administered which is normal (according to the doctors and we accept as reasonable). Amy, I really appreciated our conversation. Your compassion and willingness to refund the money means a lot. ***** Bottom line: Dr. Gaffney/Mulnix Animal Clinic charged us $1031.18 to fix her mistakes on our dog during his procedure. It’s taken us a while to finally write this, but we have to let others know to be wary of Dr. Gaffney. Our dog is 4 yrs old and weighs 8 lbs. He’s been going to Mulnix since he was a puppy - for check ups, vaccines, tummy problems, flea/tick medicines, everything - so it breaks our hearts that we won’t be going back to a doctor we thought we could trust. We took Walter in for his annual teeth cleaning, and after 4 hours got a call from Dr. Gaffney saying that the “procedure could have gone better.” At first, Dr. Gaffney could not get Walter his oxygen and he started to turn blue. Apparently he had mucus in his throat that wasn’t removed in advance and was blocking the oxygen flow. So, after removing the mucus, they tried again, couldn’t get the tube to fit (they had the wrong size) and then he vomited on the table because of how much pain and agitation his throat was enduring - all while under anesthesia. The FOURTH time they tried to get him the connection to the oxygen Dr. Gaffney still couldn’t figure out the right seal or tube sizes and kept trying multiple times to get it to work. We’ll point out that our dog is small and gentle. And, thankfully, she stopped trying and did not end up cleaning his teeth. We know all of this because Dr. Gaffney told us herself. Dr. Gaffney didn’t know the right procedures to keep our dog breathing and never ended up cleaning his teeth: During the 4 hours she didn’t take precautions to ensure his throat was clear before anesthesia compromised his oxygen flow, then caused him to involuntarily vomit, after he had already turned blue. To her credit Dr. Gaffney said she tried to get us the best price, which is $1031.18 for not completing the operation he was there for. Our intention is not to come off as bitter, but instead to let others know about Dr. Gaffney. We know having our dog is a privilege so we work really hard to make sure he has good boundaries and a healthy life. We think Mulnix Animal Clinic could do better. At least don’t make us have to pay for all the times Dr. Gaffney couldn’t keep our dog breathing and for not completing his teeth procedure.

Based on available information, including reviews from real customers, we aim to provide an objective overview of Mulnix Animal Clinic, encompassing its environment, services, and features. It's important to note that online reviews can offer varied perspectives, and it's recommended to consider a range of feedback when evaluating any service provider.
Regarding the environment of Mulnix Animal Clinic, while specific details about the clinic's ambiance and facilities are not explicitly mentioned in the provided text, the positive review highlighting "top-notch care" and "professionalism and friendliness" suggests a welcoming and competent atmosphere. A comfortable and clean environment is crucial for both the pets and their owners, helping to alleviate stress and ensure a positive experience during visits. Modern pet hospitals often focus on creating a calming space with separate waiting areas for different types of animals, well-equipped examination rooms, and potentially advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities. While we lack specific details for Mulnix, these are general aspects to consider when thinking about the environment of a pet hospital.
The services offered at Mulnix Animal Clinic appear to be comprehensive, covering a wide spectrum of pet healthcare needs. The negative review mentions services such as annual teeth cleaning, check-ups, vaccines, tummy problems, and flea/tick medicines. This indicates that Mulnix Animal Clinic likely provides routine wellness examinations, preventative care including vaccinations and parasite control, and addresses common medical issues. The mention of a "procedure" suggests that the clinic also offers more advanced medical or surgical interventions. While the review details a specific incident during a teeth cleaning procedure, it also acknowledges the clinic's role in providing ongoing care for the pet since puppyhood, implying a broader range of services beyond just dental care. Typically, a pet hospital like Mulnix would offer services such as:
- Routine check-ups and health assessments
- Vaccinations
- Parasite prevention and treatment (fleas, ticks, heartworms)
- Dental care, including teeth cleaning
- Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries
- Surgical procedures (ranging from routine to more complex)
- Diagnostic services (e.g., blood tests, X-rays)
- Nutritional counseling
- Microchipping
- Potentially, specialized services depending on the clinic's expertise and facilities.
The positive review praising the "top-notch care" received by a kitty further supports the idea that Mulnix Animal Clinic caters to a variety of pets and offers high-quality medical attention.
In terms of features, a key aspect highlighted in the reviews is the interaction with the clinic's staff and management. The update to the negative review indicates a positive step in customer service, with the manager, Amy, engaging in a "heartfelt conversation," offering an apology and a full refund, and providing clarifications about the pet's condition. This suggests a willingness to address concerns and prioritize customer satisfaction, which can be a significant feature of a reputable pet hospital. Effective communication, transparency, and a compassionate approach from the veterinary team are crucial for building trust with pet owners.
However, the detailed negative review also points out potential areas for improvement, specifically concerning the handling of procedures under anesthesia and ensuring proper preparation and equipment. While the update provides some clarification, the initial experience described raises concerns about the clinic's protocols in that specific instance. It's important for pet owners to feel confident in the clinic's ability to handle medical procedures safely and effectively.
The positive review, on the other hand, emphasizes "professionalism and friendliness," which are essential features of a good veterinary practice. A friendly and professional staff can make a significant difference in the overall experience for both the pet and the owner, fostering a sense of trust and comfort.
Regarding promotional information, the provided text does not contain any specific promotional offers or campaigns. Typically, pet hospitals might offer introductory discounts for new clients, seasonal specials on certain services (like dental cleaning month), or wellness packages that bundle essential preventative care services at a reduced price. Local users are encouraged to contact Mulnix Animal Clinic directly to inquire about any current promotions or special offers that might be available.
In conclusion, Mulnix Animal Clinic in Fort Collins, operating as a Pet Hospital, offers a range of veterinary services for local pet owners. Reviews suggest a generally positive experience with caring and professional staff, although one detailed account highlights a significant issue during a procedure that was later addressed by the management. Potential clients are advised to consider all available feedback and perhaps schedule a consultation to assess if Mulnix Animal Clinic meets their specific needs and expectations for their pet's healthcare. It is always recommended to have open communication with your veterinarian and to feel comfortable with the clinic's environment, staff, and the proposed treatment plans for your beloved animals. Mar 27, 2025 · AaronWe were very happy with everything at Mulnix! The care that our little kitty received was top notch, and thanks to their professionalism and friendliness, she is doing very well!
Mar 06, 2025 · G MorrisonI have been bringing my dogs to Dr. Gaffney at Mulnix for close to 10 years. She is so caring, passionate, and patient. Two out of three of my dogs that she has worked with regularly have been nervous and reactive at the vet, and she does everything possible to accommodate them, help them have good experiences, and earn their trust. She even did appointments outside for my previous dog, Xander. I have had appointments with Dr. Thomas, on occasion, and she is fantastic as well. The staff at Mulnix truly cares about their furry patients, and I wouldn't go anywhere else for routine veterinary care.
Mar 31, 2025 · Kara JacobI was traveling in Fort Collins and they were able to get me the same day appointment and get my little puppy with a bowel obstruction taken care of quickly and compassionately. Highly recommend!
Dec 03, 2024 · Susan MeyerDr Gaffney has been our vet for years, seen our dogs grow up and is SO very kind and professional. We've seen the other vets here too and always feel respected and well informed by the team here. Animal family members are money well spent, and though visits can be expensive, I've felt like the care Mulnix clinic offers is comprehensive. Thanks Mulnix team!
