Welcome to Mountain View Animal Emergency
For local pet owners in Mountain View and the surrounding areas, understanding the options for emergency veterinary care within the Pet Hospital category is paramount. Mountain View Animal Emergency is a dedicated facility focused on providing immediate medical and surgical attention to pets facing critical or urgent health situations. Unlike general practice veterinary clinics that primarily handle routine wellness and preventative care, an animal emergency hospital is equipped and staffed to address severe illnesses, injuries, and other life-threatening conditions that require immediate intervention. While specific details about the clinic's ambiance aren't always extensively detailed online, we can infer crucial information about their likely environment, specialized services, and key features based on the nature of emergency veterinary medicine.
The environment of Mountain View Animal Emergency is specifically designed to handle critical and urgent cases efficiently and effectively. You can expect a triage area where pets are quickly assessed upon arrival to determine the severity of their condition and the priority of care. The facility will include well-equipped examination rooms for thorough evaluations and immediate treatment. A crucial aspect of an animal emergency hospital is the presence of an intensive care unit (ICU) where critically ill or recovering patients can receive continuous monitoring and specialized support. Surgical suites are essential for performing emergency procedures, and the clinic will likely have advanced monitoring equipment to ensure patient safety during anesthesia and surgery. Diagnostic capabilities are also critical, with on-site laboratory services for rapid processing of bloodwork and other tests, as well as advanced imaging such as digital radiography and potentially ultrasound to aid in quick and accurate diagnoses. The overall environment is geared towards immediate action, stabilization, and providing the highest level of medical support for pets in critical need.
As a specialized entity within the Pet Hospital category, Mountain View Animal Emergency offers a focused range of services specifically designed to address urgent and life-threatening medical conditions in pets. These services typically include:
- Emergency Medical Care: This is the core of their services, involving the immediate assessment, stabilization, and treatment of pets with acute illnesses, sudden injuries, and other critical conditions. This can include managing shock, respiratory distress, severe infections, poisoning, and metabolic emergencies.
- Emergency Surgical Services: When immediate surgical intervention is required to save a pet's life or address a severe injury (such as internal bleeding, bloat, or severe trauma), Mountain View Animal Emergency is equipped to perform a range of emergency surgical procedures.
- Critical Care and Intensive Care Unit (ICU): For pets with life-threatening conditions, the ICU provides continuous monitoring of vital signs (heart rate, respiration, blood pressure), oxygen therapy, intravenous fluid support, and other advanced medical interventions to stabilize their condition and support recovery.
- Trauma Care: Emergency hospitals are often the first point of contact for pets that have experienced trauma, such as being hit by a car, falling from a height, or suffering from bite wounds. They are equipped to assess and treat these complex injuries.
- Diagnostic Services: Rapid and accurate diagnosis is crucial in emergency situations. Mountain View Animal Emergency will have on-site laboratory services to quickly analyze blood samples, urine, and other fluids. They will also utilize imaging technologies like digital radiography and potentially ultrasound to identify internal injuries or conditions.
- Pain Management: Providing effective pain relief is a priority for pets in emergency situations. They will have protocols and medications to manage acute pain and discomfort.
- Blood Transfusions: In cases of severe anemia or blood loss, Mountain View Animal Emergency may offer blood transfusion services to stabilize the patient.
- Toxicology: They are equipped to handle cases of accidental poisoning, with the knowledge and resources to identify toxins and administer appropriate treatments.
- End-of-Life Care and Euthanasia: In situations where a pet's condition is irreversible and causing suffering, they provide compassionate end-of-life care and euthanasia services.
- Communication and Coordination with Primary Veterinarians: Emergency hospitals play a vital role in providing immediate care and then often transferring the patient back to their primary veterinarian for ongoing management once they are stable. Effective communication and sharing of medical records are crucial.
Key features of Mountain View Animal Emergency typically revolve around their 24/7 availability, highly trained veterinary staff specializing in emergency and critical care, and advanced medical equipment and resources. Unlike general practice clinics with regular business hours, emergency hospitals are staffed around the clock, including nights, weekends, and holidays, ensuring that help is available whenever a pet experiences a medical crisis. The veterinary team consists of experienced emergency veterinarians and skilled veterinary technicians who are trained to handle critical situations efficiently and effectively. The presence of advanced diagnostic and monitoring equipment is essential for providing the highest level of care in emergency situations.
Promotional information for animal emergency hospitals is generally less common than for general practice clinics, as their services are typically sought out of immediate necessity rather than for routine care. However, Mountain View Animal Emergency may engage in community outreach and education to raise awareness about pet emergencies and the importance of having an emergency plan. They might also provide information on recognizing common pet emergencies and what to do in those situations through their website or local partnerships. Given the nature of their services, discounts or special offers are less typical, as the focus is on providing immediate, life-saving care when needed.
In conclusion, Mountain View Animal Emergency serves a critical role within the Pet Hospital category by providing specialized care for pets experiencing urgent and life-threatening medical conditions in the Mountain View, California area. Their environment is designed for rapid assessment and treatment, and their services are focused on stabilizing and treating critical cases. Key features include their 24/7 availability and highly trained emergency veterinary team. While specific promotional offers may be less common, their commitment to providing immediate and expert care during pet emergencies makes them an invaluable resource for the local community. For local pet owners, knowing the location and contact information for Mountain View Animal Emergency is an essential part of responsible pet ownership, ensuring that help is available when every second counts.

May 03, 2025 路 Joel AlligoodMy overall impression was that their goal is to separate you from as much of your money as possible. Beautiful, HUGE facility (I think the waiting room is nearly the size of our vets entire office) and they need to pay for that. Was there from approximately 8pm-2am. Basically was offered 2 choices, surgery or have our pet put down. Surgery would have to wait for the next day, $2,400 to keep her overnight plus surgery cost on top of that ($5k-10k total). Opted to get her stable and bring to her regular vet the next day. She is home, feeling much better. We may only get her for a few weeks or months, but there was no guarantees with the surgery either. Corporate veterinary care.
May 08, 2025 路 Jay OConnellWas there last night from 11 p.m to about 5 a.m in an emergency for my cat Moon, who was struggling to breathe. I ran into the building crying my eyes out because I was terrified of my pet dying and the staff was quick to calm me down without judgement. Very impressed with Grace Lily. Not only is she compassionate and caring towards animals, but she is with their owners too. She made sure to deliver news with care and she explained things to me gently. I was alone that night and she apologized that nobody was there for me. But she was there for me. She offered me a hug despite not knowing me because I was heartbroken that Moon most likely was dying from heart failure. She listened to all of my concerns and answered any questions I had. She made sure to list every option I had before I decided to go with euthanasia, knowing that Moon would be in pain and would not survive much longer. The staff around the reception office was very nice to me. They offered me water bottles and apologized for my loss. I will forever remember how well you guys treated me 馃挄. My bill might have been $1,000, but I would do it again and again if it meant that my animals were safe and sound with you guys. And to Grace Lily, you are a gem in the vet field. Keep doing what you鈥檙e doing, you are amazing at it. Thank you for being there for me when I had nobody that night
Aug 04, 2024 路 Haile SmithGreat emergency hospital. they were relatively quick in evaluating our dog and providing medicines. Prices are a bit high, but that is expected when using a 24/7 emergency vet clinic. $170 to be seen and they provide quotes on what action they recommend. Great to use in a pinch, just make sure you call first!
Nov 20, 2024 路 Tyler TFirst off, I have to give major kiddos to Oscar. He was amazing from the time that I called, all freaked out, to the time I left. My baby cat was having a hard time breathing, and no other vet would even try to see her or give me any ideas. From the moment I called, Oscar soothed my fears, asked about the color of my kitties gums, and calming made me feel at ease. I felt like they really cared. Once there, I was made aware of the process of every step and explained the process and every procedure. They knew I didn't have a lot of money and never once made me feel guilty for having to go basic. On the way out, Oscar made sure that I had a list of all ER hospitals, as well as all the low-cost vets in the area. Oscar, you are a gem. Also, I love how you kept calling my kitty "My friend Church". You are absolutely in the right career. !
