I had an emergency situation with my horse, on a Saturday, Vet was too busy with company, to be bothered. My horse passed away, that night. This is the only equine vet in my area, and is listed as offering emergency services, along with being a mobile vet. My regular Equine vet had moved out of state, two weeks earlier without notifying any of his clients, so we found out, that same day. I am heartbroken.

Welcome to Mobile Equine Diagnostics, Inc.
Mobile Equine Diagnostics, Inc., located at 35135 Johnson Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91390, USA, operates as a specialized "Pet Hospital" within the equine veterinary sector. As its name suggests, this practice focuses on providing advanced diagnostic and veterinary services directly to horses on location. They can be reached at (661) 733-7909 or via mobile at +1 661-733-7909.
Unlike a traditional stationary veterinary clinic, Mobile Equine Diagnostics, Inc. functions primarily through a mobile service model. This means that the "environment" of their care is typically the horse's own stable or farm. This approach offers significant advantages for equine patients, as it reduces the stress and potential risks associated with transporting large animals to a clinic. Their mobile units are essentially state-of-the-art veterinary offices on wheels, equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and medications. While the client's property serves as the immediate care environment, the professionalism and preparedness of the mobile team create a functional and calm setting for veterinary procedures. However, the nature of a mobile practice means that communication and scheduling are paramount, as visits are coordinated to reach individual locations. The reviews suggest that this mobile nature, while convenient in principle, can sometimes pose challenges in terms of immediate responsiveness, particularly during emergencies or peak periods.
Mobile Equine Diagnostics, Inc. offers a wide range of specialized services tailored to the needs of horses and other large animals. Their focus on diagnostics is a key differentiator, as their mobile units are equipped with advanced imaging technology. Services commonly provided include:
- Advanced Diagnostic Imaging: This is a core strength. They utilize state-of-the-art digital radiography (wireless X-ray) for assessing limbs, head, neck, and spinous processes in adult horses, and even chest and abdomen in foals. Digital ultrasonography is used extensively for orthopedic investigations (tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints, some fractures), as well as for various medical conditions like colic and for comprehensive reproductive medicine (monitoring cycles, pregnancy detection, fetal sexing, assessment of fetal and placental health).
- Endoscopy: They offer both static endoscopy (for assessing upper respiratory tract problems like nose, throat, guttural pouches, and reproductive issues via video hysteroscopy) and dynamic (over-ground) endoscopy, which is invaluable for diagnosing conditions that only manifest when a horse is exercising. Gastroscopy is also provided on-site for diagnosing gastric ulcers.
- Lameness Evaluations: A significant part of their practice involves diagnosing and treating lameness and other performance-limiting conditions, utilizing their advanced imaging capabilities to pinpoint issues.
- Equine Wellness and Preventative Care: This includes routine wellness exams, vaccinations, deworming programs, and nutritional consultations tailored to individual horse needs.
- Pre-Purchase and Insurance Exams: Thorough examinations to provide potential buyers with an overview of a horse's health before a purchase, and comprehensive physical exams required by equine insurers.
- Equine Dentistry: Routine dental care, which may include power floating and other procedures to maintain oral health.
- Reproductive Services: Comprehensive services to support breeding programs, including pregnancy checks and monitoring.
- Emergency Services: The company states it offers 24-hour emergency service for large animals. This is a crucial service for horse owners, given the sudden and serious nature of many equine health issues, such as colic or acute injuries. However, as noted in customer reviews, the actual availability and responsiveness in emergency situations can be a point of contention for some clients.
The defining feature of Mobile Equine Diagnostics, Inc. is its specialized focus on equine health combined with its fully mobile, advanced diagnostic capabilities. By bringing high-tech equipment directly to the horse's location, they minimize stress for the animal and provide the convenience of on-site care. This is particularly beneficial for horses that are difficult to transport, severely lame, or acutely ill. The emphasis on advanced imaging and diagnostics means they are well-equipped to handle complex cases that require detailed internal assessment. The practice also highlights its commitment to comprehensive care, from preventative medicine to specialized lameness and reproductive services. However, the customer reviews provide critical insight into a significant feature: the responsiveness of their emergency services and general communication. One heartbreaking review describes an emergency situation on a Saturday where the vet was "too busy with company, to be bothered," leading to a tragic outcome. Another review mentions that calls "always goes to voice mail." This feedback, while anecdotal, suggests that while the service *is* listed as offering emergency care, the practical experience of accessing that care might be a point of concern for some clients, and it indicates that communication efficiency might not always meet client expectations. This discrepancy between advertised services and client experience regarding emergency responsiveness is a critical consideration for potential users of a mobile veterinary service.
Mobile Equine Diagnostics, Inc. promotes itself as a full-service mobile equine veterinary service offering general care as well as 24-hour emergency service. They highlight their competitive pricing, specials, and group discounts. They also encourage referrals, offering incentives for clients who refer new business. Their website and online presence aim to showcase their advanced diagnostic capabilities and the convenience of on-site care. However, the reviews provided offer crucial additional "promotional" information – albeit not always positive – that is essential for local users. The severe negative feedback regarding emergency service availability and communication ("Vet was too busy with company, to be bothered," "they don't answer calls, always goes to voice mail") presents a significant point of concern. For a mobile service, especially one advertising 24-hour emergency care, responsiveness is paramount. While this could be an isolated incident or reflect challenges during times of high demand or staff shortages, it highlights a critical area that potential clients must consider. Horse owners seeking emergency care or consistent communication may need to clarify the clinic's exact protocols for emergency response and callback times before relying solely on this service, particularly if it is the "only equine vet in area." Transparency regarding these operational realities, even if challenging, would be beneficial for managing client expectations and ensuring the best possible outcome for horses in critical need.
