I recently switched to Mill Creek Vet, and I’m so glad that I did. It was readily evident on my first visit that they are an incredible group of knowledgeable professionals who are passionate about what they do and truly invested in every animal entrusted to their care. I’ve been to vets in the past that rush through things, treat you like a number, or talk down to you assuming that you have no existing animal knowledge—this is not one of those vets. They go out of their way to teach, explain, answer questions, and encourage curiosity and discussion in a respectful and positive way—they have binders in the rooms with helpful information, and they make sure that everything is understood by all parties involved both on forms and in person (without being condescending) before jumping into anything. All of their veterinarians are wonderful, so I don’t have to worry about scheduling with any particular person to make sure my pets get the care that they deserve. Prices are what you’d expect for the level of care that your pets receive; it is not a low-cost clinic by any means, but they are also not tacking on more than you need or doing things without your knowledge or consent. (I do wish that they accepted CareCredit, but I’m willing to make it work after my experiences there so far.) I ended up having to say goodbye to my foxhound, Peaches, this week, and as awful as the circumstances might have been, the team at Mill Creek tried everything that they could possibly do to save her and made me feel as though we had been established with them for years. We discussed her situation at length and made decisions together that we all felt good about, and they were communicative and helpful during the entire surgical process. They were quick to join me in going to the ends of the earth for my dog, and their kindness and compassion will not be forgotten. A photo of a planter outside their clinic with an applicable quote is attached along with one photo of my sweet Peaches.

Dec 19, 2024 · Heather KenwardMy wife and I have three cats and two dogs, all of whom are cared for by Dr. Scheller at Mill Creek Vet—and we couldn’t be happier. After trying several vets in Charlottesville, we finally found the perfect fit. Dr. Scheller is truly amazing—kind, empathetic, and deeply invested in the well-being of our entire pack. The entire team at Mill Creek Vet goes above and beyond, and we’re so grateful for the exceptional care they provide!
Mar 26, 2025 · Lauren SollarsMill Creek Veterinary Clinic saw our cat the day after Christmas (one of their busiest days of the year) without an appointment. They were highly communicative, and charged less than $400 for sedating, x-rays, diagnosing his luxating patellas, and consulting with orthopedic specialists to confirm. They are incredibly empathetic and answered all of our many questions. I would highly recommend you trust them with your furry friends.
Dec 28, 2024 · Marcus MannI do not even know where to start with this wonderful place, I am still so grateful and overwhelmed with my experience here, it's hard get my thoughts together. My 12 year old dog collapsed and his gums/tongue were extremely pale. I immediately called my vet and they couldnt/wouldnt see him and directed me to the contact emergency vet, which I did, with no answer even when being called repeatedly. I called another regular vet in the area and even though they couldnt take him, they connected me with Mill Creek Veterinary Clinic. Jasmine & Kim got us scheduled immediately and my pup was able to be seen as soon as we got there. They even walked out to my car to help carry him in (he's 80+ lbs), because by that point he wasnt moving very much and definitely didn't want to jump out of the car. They did this automatically, without me even asking - they just knew. Once we were inside the exam room, George came and spoke with me and was super patient, comforting and understanding (lots of tears were being shed/I was pretty much hysterical). Dr. Sims came in and did the initial exam and talked with me as well, taking her time and care even though I knew she was busy with her every day clients. They explained what needed to be done and gave me an estimate right away so I would know what to expect ahead of time. We moved forward with the first steps of x-ray/ultrasound/everything else they did and they checked on me and kept me updated. Vedder (my dog) was returned to the room and once they processed all of the results they discovered that he had a tumor on his spleen that had ruptured which was causing internal bleeding. Again they talked me through every step they could take and answered all of my questions while remaining calm and extremely kind. I was given an estimate for surgery and they gave me time to consider my options without feeling like I was rushed or taking up space. We decided to proceed with surgery and I received updates from the office staff regularly while he was in pre-op as well as during surgery. My boy made it through the surgery thanks to Dr. Sims, Dr. Scheller and their amazing team! The whole team stayed way past closing time to make sure everything went smoothly and he had time to recover before sending us home. They never made me feel like a burden or even acted irritated that we had prolonged their day. The next morning they followed up almost as soon as they opened to see how Vedder had done through the night. It meant everything to me to have all of these people rooting for us and taking such good care of Vedder and knowing that they truly meant it. Thank you from the very deepest part of my heart- Kim, Jasmine, George, Savana, Dr. Scheller & Dr Sims (and anyone else I may not have directly seen or spoken to) for saving Vedder’s life and for your compassion every single step of the way! *I think it’s worth noting that I have now decided to move to this practice as a permanent place for my dog(s). They made that much of an impression on me!*
Mar 18, 2025 · Carter RichardsonI made the switch to Mill Creek with my cat Sam around a year ago, and I am so glad I did! The staff always made us feel so welcome and treated each visit with such care. My boy was a frequent flier, and had to come in several times with little to no notice-Mill Creek was always able to accommodate. Their prices have always seemed fair and are well explained. When it came time to unexpectedly send Sam over the rainbow bridge, I was so grateful I could trust the staff at Mill Creek to handle that day with such grace and kindness. Dr. Scheller, Savannah, and Jasmine in particular were all so kind. I simply can't recommend them enough!
