MAFTC treated my cat Spooky last week and I loved this place! Everyone I dealt with was so helpful and the process went so smoothly. You can tell everyone there loves cats of course! The price was very good compared to places I’ve been to before for this injection, yet, this was by far the best out of all these places. I wish I found you earlier! I loved the setup for Spooky. I know he enjoyed his “Bird TV” and you couldn’t find a better animal lover than Dawn, who took great care of him during his stay. I especially loved having access to the WAZE camera app so I could watch Spooky when he was there. A big shout out to Steph who coordinated all this! I met Dr. R who was very nice! Thank you all!

Mar 20, 2025 · Rhonda FonteI brought my 14-year-old Bengal, Loki, to Mid Atlantic Feline Thyroid Center (MAFTC) for I-131 treatment after he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I didn’t want his remaining years to be dependent on twice-daily medication. My research led me to this treatment option, and MAFTC stood out as one of—if not the—best in the region. For perspective, we drove nearly 4.5 hours from Pennsylvania. I liked the idea of taking my buddy somewhere where this specific treatment is their specialty, not just a procedure they happen to offer (as was the case with most closer options). I appreciated how proactive they were in obtaining the necessary test results from my local vet, as well as accommodating us with a later drop-off time, knowing we were traveling from out of state. The daily updates from Dawn were excellent, and it was comforting to be able to check in on him via the cameras from time to time. Steph was also very thorough in explaining the entire process—what to do before drop-off and what to expect after pick-up. One month post-procedure, Loki’s bloodwork shows his levels are back within the normal range. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. Thank you!
Mar 21, 2025 · Ryan HendricksWe had such a great experience here! Chose to drive an hour and a half out of state because of the level of expertise, care and attention to detail — and the staff did not disappoint! As someone who has never been away from their cat like this before, I felt completely reassured that she was in great hands. The daily check-ins, efforts to keep her calm and cat cam helped so much. I would highly recommend!
Oct 13, 2024 · Victoria AddisonI cannot give enough praise to this treatment center. I called three places in the DMV area after my cat, Teo, was disgnosed with hyperthyroidism in April. I had spent about $800 on bloodwork already and most clinics I called were going to require that I redo it all so the results were within 30 days of the I-131 treatment. This center, however, had the lowest price for the I-131 treatment AND allowed blood tests within 90 days to be utilized, meaning I didn’t have to pay to do it all over again. Stephanie and Dawn were always so responsive and helpful and KIND. This treatment is expensive, stressful, and somehow they made it a no brainer to go with their clinic despite being located 1.5 hours away from me. I got twice daily updates on Teo as he stayed 4 days in the clinic and could see him on video. I got good guidance on keeping safe with radioactivity once he was home. Time will tell how he recovers from treatment (during 1 month and 3 month bloodwork follow ups) but I trust that he got the best care possible. THANK YOU!!!
Jul 22, 2024 · Claire DornerI highly recommend Mid Atlantic Feline Thyroid Center! I brought my 14-year-old cat, Saphira, in August for the I-131 treatment after managing her hyperthyroidism with diet alone for 2.5 years. I was nervous about leaving her, but Dawn immediately calmed my nerves. The live video of Saphira’s “kitty condo” was such a thoughtful touch—it was reassuring to see how she was doing during her stay. While Saphira certainly wasn’t thrilled to be away for a couple of days, it was much harder on me! Dawn took wonderful care of her, ensuring she was comfortable throughout. Dealing with a hyperthyroid cat is stressful, but the staff’s compassion and care made the experience so much easier. Even months after treatment, I reached out with questions about Saphira’s blood work, and Dr. Rucinsky took the time to respond thoughtfully. If you’re considering I-131 for your fur baby, you will not be disappointed—this team truly goes above and beyond!
