Very nice! I took my mother's cat to the dentist and instantly felt welcomed. When I got to the room, Beloved's name was written on the whiteboard. All the employees were extremely kind and I received all the information from the dentist necessary to provide the best care for Beloved. The cost was expensive ($225 consultation), but I felt like it was worth it for the excellent care and information provided. Thank you all so much!

Welcome to Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital Outpatient
Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital Outpatient (MASH Outpatient), located at 6611 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038, USA, stands as a distinguished "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing advanced, specialized veterinary care. Unlike a primary care clinic, MASH Outpatient focuses on specific disciplines, offering expert consultations, diagnostics, and treatments for complex health conditions that require the attention of board-certified veterinary specialists.
The environment at MASH Outpatient is designed to facilitate highly specialized medical care while maintaining a professional and supportive atmosphere. As a facility focusing on specialty services, it is equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment technologies. The reception area is likely streamlined to manage appointments for specialist consultations, and the overall ambiance aims to be calming, despite the often serious nature of the cases seen. Examination rooms are set up for detailed assessments, and specialized treatment areas are configured for precise procedures. The cleanliness and organization of the facility are paramount to maintaining sterile conditions for delicate medical procedures and ensuring the safety of all patients. While the primary MASH hospital at a nearby address offers 24/7 emergency care, the Outpatient facility is structured for scheduled specialist appointments, providing a focused environment for advanced therapies.
MASH Outpatient provides a range of highly specialized veterinary services, acting as a referral center for complex cases. These services are typically led by veterinarians who have undergone extensive additional training and achieved board certification in their respective fields. Key specialties offered at the Outpatient facility include:
Dentistry: As highlighted in customer reviews, MASH Outpatient excels in advanced veterinary dentistry. This goes beyond routine cleanings to include complex procedures like periodontal surgery, extractions, root canals, and other specialized dental interventions for conditions that significantly impact a pet's oral health and overall well-being.
Dermatology: Diagnosis and treatment of challenging skin and ear conditions, including chronic allergies, autoimmune skin diseases, parasitic infestations, and dermatological manifestations of systemic illnesses.
Oncology: Providing comprehensive cancer care for pets, which may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy planning (though radiation therapy itself is often performed at a separate facility), and surgical oncology, as well as palliative care to improve quality of life for pets with cancer.
Internal Medicine: Specializing in the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of diseases affecting internal organs and systems, such as gastrointestinal disorders, kidney disease, endocrine disorders (e.g., diabetes, thyroid disease), and respiratory conditions.
Nutrition: Led by board-certified veterinary nutritionists, this service provides tailored dietary plans for pets with specific medical conditions, including managing chronic diseases, weight management, and nutritional support for critical care patients. This is a highly specialized service that few general practices offer.
Ophthalmology: Focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and conditions, from cataracts and glaucoma to corneal ulcers and retinal disorders, often including advanced surgical procedures to preserve vision.
Acupuncture/Physical Therapy: Offering complementary therapies for pain management, rehabilitation, and improving mobility, particularly for pets with orthopedic issues, neurological conditions, or chronic pain.
The distinction of MASH Outpatient lies in its team of highly qualified specialists and their dedication to advanced medical care. As attested by reviews, pet owners consistently praise the "excellent care and information provided." The specialized focus means that veterinarians at MASH Outpatient possess in-depth knowledge and experience in their respective fields, allowing them to tackle cases that might be beyond the scope of a general practice. For example, a customer highlighted being "terrified" about "extensive periodontic surgery" for their dog Luna, but found immense relief and satisfaction with the outcome, affirming that the "cost was expensive... but I felt like it was worth it for the excellent care and information provided." This speaks to the expertise and reassuring communication provided by the specialists.
Another key feature is the compassionate approach, even in a high-tech, specialty setting. Reviews mention staff being "extremely kind" and receiving "all the information from the dentist necessary to provide the best care." The communication during Luna's surgery, with texts updating the owner on her progress, exemplifies the commitment to client peace of mind. This blend of cutting-edge medicine with genuine empathy creates a supportive environment for both pets and their worried owners. The fact that pets' names are noted on whiteboards, as mentioned by a client, signifies a personalized touch that makes patients feel valued despite the hospital's size and specialized nature. This individualized attention, combined with the comprehensive and detailed explanations provided by the specialists, empowers pet owners to make informed decisions about their pet's treatment plan.
Given its status as a specialty hospital, direct "promotional information" in the traditional sense of discounted routine services is less common. Instead, the primary promotion is the expertise and advanced capabilities it offers. The value proposition is centered around providing solutions for complex, challenging, or chronic conditions that require a level of specialization not available at a general veterinary clinic. The high cost, openly acknowledged by clients in their reviews ($225 consultation, and "expensive place, no doubt"), is often justified by the unparalleled quality of care, the advanced diagnostic tools, and the highly skilled specialists. The positive testimonials, such as "I'm glad I chose them after doing research" and "my dog is worth it," serve as powerful endorsements, demonstrating that pet owners are willing to invest in superior care for their beloved companions when facing significant health challenges.
MASH Outpatient also benefits from its association with the main Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital, which offers 24/7 emergency and critical care at a nearby location. This synergy means that patients requiring intensive care or immediate emergency attention have seamless access to a broader spectrum of services, ensuring continuity of care even for the most critical cases. While the Outpatient facility focuses on scheduled appointments, the overall MASH ecosystem provides a comprehensive safety net for pets in Los Angeles.
In essence, Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital Outpatient provides an invaluable service to the Los Angeles community by offering access to highly specialized veterinary care. Its environment is optimized for advanced diagnostics and treatments, its services cover critical areas like dentistry, oncology, and internal medicine, and its defining features include the exceptional expertise and compassionate approach of its board-certified specialists. While the cost reflects the high level of care, the overwhelming positive feedback from pet owners underscores the significant value and peace of mind derived from trusting their pets to MASH Outpatient for their most challenging health needs.

Dec 16, 2023 · Nicole EvansNo one wants to hear that their pet needs a major procedure done. My dog luna needed extensive periodontic surgery. I was terrified. They texted me during surgery to let me know she was doing great while under. Then when she was finished. I wish I didn't need their services, but I'm glad they were there. It is an expensive place, no doubt, but my dog is worth it. I'm glad I chose them after doing research.
Sep 27, 2022 · jimmy palmieriMASH helped treat one of our kitties named Panthro, who’s now in the stars, for a variety of ailments. They aren’t the emergency-specific function of MASH (which is right across the street), but they have specialists and doctors who help out in emergency situations when needed. Additionally, you can schedule all kinds of specialist services that aren’t available at your more traditional vet. For example: EKGs, sonograms, etc. This is super helpful when you need additional exams made on your pets for conditions that traditional vets don’t have the capacity or technology to fully investigate. Their staff is very considerate and they try their best to help you out. Costs are generally on the higher end due to a couple of reasons: 1. They go beyond what your traditional vet can typically offer. They have speciality equipment and doctors who can go much deeper and much more investigative for what’s going on with your furry child. 2. They not only support emergency situations, but non emergency situations. MASH emergency and outpatient did wonders for our Panthro. They paid so much attention to him and gave him so much care. And their doctors truly are incredibly seasoned and can be miracle workers at times. They gave us some borrowed time with Panthro and I will forever be thankful to them and be grateful for it. They care. They’re knowledgable and experts. And they will do what they can to save your pet and extend their life.

Oct 09, 2024 · GlennWe are new dog owners and poor little Brownie was completely out of sorts and worried us to the point of going to MASH for emergency services. I can't say enough about how under the severe circumstances that the staff faces with the animals and owners the staff is very cool, professional and sympathetic to everyone who came into their office. After only 2.5hrs we had our answers and we done. Our dog came out calmer and better as did we. Surprisingly our bill was very reasonable considering our need for emergency services. We were very pleased by the entire experience and especially the staff. Thank you to everyone at MASH for helping us when we needed it most.
