My 12 year old lab was in pain, urinating blood and practically unable to walk. I called them 5 times with no answer so my sister in law who lives in Meredith drove over there to see if they were open. She let me know they were open and closing at 10pm. So we loaded up my weak dog in the car with a urine and poop sample that I collected and drove over there. We arrived at 7:30pm and they said the vet wouldn’t see us because they are closing at 8:00pm tonight and my dog would need “extensive testing” and need to stay over night. The vet didn’t even come out. I’ve never needed an emergency vet clinic before and I will never use this one again.

Welcome to Meredith Place Veterinary Emergency Hospital
For pet owners in Meredith, New Hampshire, and the surrounding Lakes Region, Meredith Place Veterinary Emergency Hospital serves as a vital resource for urgent and after-hours veterinary care. Situated at 8 Maple St Suite 2, Meredith, NH 03253, USA, this facility is specifically designed to address the immediate and critical health needs of pets when regular veterinary offices are closed. They can be reached by phone at (603) 605-1810 or +1 603-605-1810.
Meredith Place Veterinary Emergency Hospital operates with a clear mission: to provide exceptional emergency veterinary services. They are a full-service emergency animal hospital, equipped to handle a wide range of urgent and critical conditions that may arise unexpectedly. Their team of highly trained and experienced veterinarians and support staff is committed to offering the highest quality of care during what can be incredibly stressful times for pets and their families.
The hospital understands that veterinary emergencies can happen at any hour. Their operational hours are generally Sunday through Saturday, from 10 AM to 10 PM, ensuring that pet owners in the Lakes Region have a dedicated facility for their urgent needs during these times. It is crucial for pet owners to be aware of these specific hours and the emergency nature of the hospital, as it differs from a regular daytime veterinary clinic.
The facility at Meredith Place Veterinary Emergency Hospital is described as state-of-the-art, equipped with the latest technology and equipment necessary to provide advanced emergency care. This includes capabilities for thorough examinations, diagnostics, and a variety of treatments. While the environment is set up for critical care, there's also an emphasis on providing compassionate support to pet owners.
Upon arrival, pets are triaged to evaluate the severity of their condition. This ensures that the most critically ill or injured animals receive immediate attention, even if they arrived later than others. The team then develops a treatment plan based on the pet's individual needs. This structured approach is essential in an emergency setting to prioritize life-saving interventions.
Client experiences, while varied, often highlight the staff's efforts to be comforting, accommodating, and knowledgeable. For instance, one grateful client recounted their positive experience when their dog had an encounter with a porcupine. The staff not only provided effective treatment but also made the visit less stressful for both the dog and the owner, as well as for other pet owners in the vicinity. This demonstrates a commitment to empathetic care during distressing situations.
As an emergency veterinary hospital, Meredith Place offers a focused range of services tailored to critical and urgent situations. These typically include:
- Urgent Care Services: Addressing sudden illnesses or injuries that require prompt attention but may not be immediately life-threatening.
- Emergency Surgery: Performing necessary surgical interventions for trauma, foreign body removal, or other critical conditions.
- Diagnostic Services: Utilizing their equipment to quickly diagnose the underlying cause of an emergency, which may include blood tests, imaging (like X-rays), etc.
- Pain Management: Administering appropriate pain relief to improve the comfort and well-being of suffering animals.
- End-Of-Life Care: Providing compassionate support and medical options for pets in their final stages of life, including euthanasia and bereavement support.
- Hospitalization: Offering overnight or extended care for pets requiring continuous monitoring and treatment for severe conditions.
The hospital's focus is on stabilizing and treating acute conditions. For ongoing or non-emergency care, pets are typically transferred back to their regular family veterinarians for follow-up, emphasizing a collaborative approach with primary care vets in the region.
It's important for pet owners to understand the operational model of an emergency hospital. As highlighted in one review, there can be instances where a pet presented close to closing time might not be seen immediately if their condition is deemed to require "extensive testing" and overnight stay, due to the limited operating hours (10 AM to 10 PM). This is a critical point of awareness for potential clients, as it means their definition of an "emergency" and the hospital's capacity for late-night admissions for non-critical but complex cases might sometimes differ. Communication of these policies is vital to manage client expectations during high-stress situations.
Regarding fees and payments, the hospital generally discusses recommended options and provides cost estimates for treatment. Payment is typically due at the time services are performed, and a deposit may be required if a pet is hospitalized. They accept various payment methods, including CareCredit and ScratchPay, which can help alleviate financial burdens during emergencies.
Meredith Place Veterinary Emergency Hospital promotes itself as a trusted name in pet emergency services, emphasizing their highly skilled certified doctors and technicians and their state-of-the-art facility. With "over 14 years of providing excellent & compassionate care" (as per their website), they have established a presence in the Lakes Region. Their commitment is to be there for pet owners when their pets need them most, providing peace of mind during urgent situations.
While the goal is to provide exceptional emergency services, potential users should verify current operating hours and any specific intake policies, especially if arriving close to closing time, to ensure the best possible experience during a pet emergency. The positive feedback highlights their ability to provide comfort and effective care in challenging situations, making them a valuable asset to the pet-owning community in Meredith, NH.

Apr 23, 2025 · Courtney KromerAwesome staff - very kind and courteous. They take great care of our dogs in the toughest situations from pulling porcupine quills from their faces to detecting cancerous tumors. We are lucky to have such a first-rate facility in our area.
Apr 07, 2025 · Christine SegalasEvery person and experience has been professional, thorough and compassionate. We have been at least 5 times, 3 different dogs over the span of 5 years. I have always called when on the way to give them a heads up. This is an “ER” and as with any healthcare, it costs money, bring a credit card or cash. Always greatful for their help.
Sep 30, 2024 · Amy DauphinaisThe vet was able to see our dog max quickly and She gave us an emergency referral to another vet with oncology capabilities at the last minute. Her forward thinking and care gave us the best possible chance to help our dog. A lot of vets wouldn’t do that. She went above & beyond and didn’t give up. We’ll never forget that.
