Today I had an emergency with my cat. I contacted the Dickson City office, explained the situation & the staff member immediately made an appt for me at the Throop office. I apologize for not remembering her name. When I arrived at the Throop office they were ready for me. The technician did an amazing thorough exam. She treated my cat with such gentleness. When meeting the veterinarian, they both handled her as if she was theirs. They answered questions & explained everything patiently & completely. My cat, unfortunately, would not have had good quality of life & I made the difficult decision. The technician came in with a beautiful soft blanket for her, told me to take all the time I needed. Their compassion went above & beyond anything I've experienced as a lifetime pet owner. I could have asked for a more peaceful & gentle journey for Luna. Thank you could never be enough. The dignity with which you treated her was beyond measure.

I can't rate this veterinary office high enough. Every single person in this facility is wonderful. The vets, techs and staff are courteous, professional and truly care about your pets. We lived in town and loved them. We moved an hour away and still bring our dogs to them, because we trust them whole heartedly.

The Throop Location. If I could give Zero Stars I would. My dog was in critical condition. He couldn't urinate for four days due to cancer masses putting pressure on his bladder. I brought him in the morning for treatment or euthanasia, they recommended euthanasia. I prepaid for the appointment (which was later in the day). Prior to the morning appointment, I requested a muzzle because my dog was snappy, he snapped at me in the morning, I wanted to make sure the staff would be safe while examining him. They were aware that he snapped at me, since I was adamant about getting a muzzle. When we came for the euthanasia, with my two sons and husband, they went through their checklist. I again shared he snapped at me, then all of a sudden they demanded he is tested for rabies. For those of you who don't know how animals are tested for rabies, they must examine the brain. When asked how much does he weigh, I responded 80 lbs, they coldly said in front of my boys 'we have to take his head off and send it'. WHAT!? Are you kidding me?! And the worse part? I had to pay for it. I opted for us to bring his body home for home burial, but now I have to choose to have his body returned decapitated or pay for cremation. All for a snap that didn't break skin. The only time I was spoken to with tenderness or compassion is when they asked for payment. I am so saddened, angry, and appalled that despite me sharing the entire day that we needed a muzzle to ensure safety of staff because he had snapped at me, when it came to the very last minute and I was deep in grief I was blindsided by this. Try consoling a 12 year old who literally grew up with his dog that we can't bring him home to bury. Explain what the 'doctor' meant when he said 'we have to take his head off'. They made a hard day infinitely harder. Do better, Throop location. Remember that we are paying YOU for a a service, you aren't doing anything as a favor or for free. Now I have to live with the knowledge that my beautiful boy will be returned to us incomplete. Without his beautiful head. By far the worst experience of my entire life.

Dr. Clarke and the entire staff were fantastic. They were able to get me a same day appointment with excellent care. I highly recommend their urgent care department if you’re in need.
