While these specific specialties might not all be offered at the Lexington location, the MedVet network as a whole emphasizes comprehensive specialist care.
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, they perform advanced diagnostic tests to accurately pinpoint health issues. This would include sophisticated imaging techniques and comprehensive laboratory analyses.

The staff was extremely compassionate and understanding of our situation. Prices are higher due to this being a 24hr emergency clinic but they will attempt to work with you. I felt so much more at ease after leaving Medvet.

My primary veterinarian office, one of the emergency veterinarian offices they recommended was VetMed Lex on Dennis Drive or MetroVet in Louisville which we went to the one in Lex because it was closer. Not sure why Bluegrass Veterinary Specialist (BVS) wasn’t recommended but here we are now. We went Friday and they did all the things they could based on what labs and ultrasound showed. THEY diagnosed our boy with Pericardial Effusion (most dogs only live between 6-10 days after onset of symptoms) and after consulting with the Cardiologist at the Vetmed Cincinnati location (who we were told was doing research on this very thing) the cardiologist offered an echocardiogram for free if we would bring Kilo to Cincinnati on Monday. Of course we said yes who wouldn’t if it meant possibly helping our baby be with us longer or help other dogs with this diagnosis. Nothing else was mentioned about the appt this day. (This visit cost us $1100 plus the cost of medications we were sent home with) I get to VetMed Cincinnati that next Monday morning at 8:30 the drop off time for him and we go back and the Cardio tech comes in to go over some things about Kilo. She then tells me the echo cardio has been comp’d but the consultation fee is $$$. I’m floored because this wasn’t mentioned that I would have to pay extra for this fee. I drive 2+hours away for a service I was told was free not expecting to pay anything else so I say sure. I’m pissed already at this point but still worried about my baby. I get the call to come back to go over the results of the findings from the test. He was misdiagnosed and did not have pericardial effusion and there’s nothing else she could do but if I want to pay another $1k they could have Internal Medicine come in and do bloodwork (which we’ve already had done 3 times since Friday morning) and who knows what else. (I leave Cincy after dropping another $400+ after expecting to have paid NOTHING). No thank you, I’ll consult his primary Vet at this point.

MedVet did a great job taking care of my dog while she was having a medical emergency. I appreciate that they ran a bunch of tests to determine the true cause of her symptoms. My dog had to stay a few days, and they kept me updated while she was there and answered my questions. Also, when it was determined she needed an immediate surgery they found a surgeon who could do it. I really appreciate that they went above and beyond during such a difficult situation.
