I had an unexpected visit to MedVet. Here are things to expect when you're there. 1. $137 to check them in 2. Expect to wait a good while. Unless your animal is in critical condition, then they will look at them immediately. 3. They will check vitals for free and typically take your animal to do so and then bring them back to you. They will do this pretty quickly in the visit. 15-45 minutes when you first walk in. After I got my cat, Lloyd, back from checking vitals, I waited a good while. I'd probably say about 5 hours until I was called back. The staff I did like. They're on top of their game, and we're even training other employees. Dr. Weiland was my guys doctor, and she was very polite and straightforward on what she would like to do and what she finds best for your animal. She could tell I was concerned about my guy, even if I was very in control of my emotions. She kept telling me he was such a good boy and handsome man, which he is. $860 later, my cat was fine. 7 hours of my day. All and all, if something is wrong with your animal, they are a last option, but a good option to take your animal. If you really feel you need to take your animal in and can't wait for the vet to open, I'd go here. Expect to spend some money, but they will do what they can to help you and your animal.

Based on available information, including first-hand customer reviews, this introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed and objective understanding of the services, environment, features, and important considerations when choosing MedVet Cleveland for their beloved animal companions.
MedVet Cleveland is located at 20400 Emerald Pkwy, Cleveland, OH 44135, USA, and can be contacted via phone at (216) 362-6000 or mobile phone at +1 216-362-6000. While the physical environment is not explicitly detailed in the provided information, the reviews offer insights into the overall experience within the facility. Customers should anticipate a professional and likely busy setting, typical of a hospital environment equipped to handle various medical needs of pets, including emergencies.
As a comprehensive pet hospital, MedVet Cleveland offers a wide array of services catering to different aspects of animal health. Based on the positive feedback regarding surgical procedures and the mention of specialists like Dr. Weiland, it is reasonable to infer that MedVet Cleveland provides both general veterinary care and specialized services. These likely include:
- Emergency Care: A significant feature highlighted in the reviews is MedVet Cleveland's role as an emergency veterinary service provider. This suggests they are equipped to handle urgent and critical medical situations for pets that require immediate attention, especially outside of regular veterinary clinic hours.
- Specialty Medicine: The mention of a surgeon performing a "fantastic" job and a doctor specializing in a particular case (Dr. Weiland) indicates the presence of veterinary specialists. These specialists likely focus on specific areas of animal medicine such as surgery, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and potentially rehabilitation.
- General Medical Services: Beyond emergency and specialty care, a pet hospital typically provides routine medical services such as wellness exams, vaccinations, preventative care, diagnostics (including blood work, imaging like X-rays and ultrasounds), and treatment for common illnesses. While not explicitly detailed, these are fundamental services expected from a comprehensive pet hospital.
- Surgical Procedures: The positive review regarding a successful bowel resection highlights the surgical capabilities of MedVet Cleveland. They are likely equipped to perform a range of surgical procedures, from routine surgeries to more complex interventions.
- Diagnostics: The process of checking vitals suggests the availability of diagnostic tools and procedures to assess a pet's health status. This likely includes in-house laboratory services and imaging technologies to aid in accurate diagnoses.
Several features of MedVet Cleveland can be gleaned from the customer reviews:
- Triage System: The reviews explicitly mention a triage system where animals in critical condition are prioritized and seen immediately, while others may experience longer wait times. This is a standard practice in emergency veterinary settings to ensure the most critical cases receive prompt attention.
- Professional and Knowledgeable Staff: Multiple reviewers commend the staff for being "on top of their game" and even training new employees. This suggests a commitment to a high standard of care and a well-trained team.
- Communication and Transparency: Dr. Weiland is described as "polite and straightforward" in explaining treatment plans, indicating a focus on clear communication with pet owners. However, one review also suggests a need for more proactive communication regarding potential wait times and alternative options if the wait becomes excessively long due to a high influx of critical cases.
- Thoroughness of Care: The detailed process of checking in, assessing vitals, and the subsequent examination and treatment suggest a comprehensive approach to veterinary care.
Based on the customer experiences shared, here are some important aspects to consider when visiting MedVet Cleveland:
- Initial Check-in Fee: Be prepared for an initial check-in fee, as one reviewer mentioned a cost of $137 for this process. This fee likely covers the initial assessment and administrative procedures.
- Potential Wait Times: Expect potential wait times, especially if your pet's condition is not deemed immediately critical. The reviews indicate that wait times can be significant, with one customer waiting approximately 5 hours before their pet was seen by a doctor. It's important to factor this into your decision, particularly if your pet's condition allows for waiting until your regular veterinarian opens or seeking alternative emergency care if the wait seems excessively long.
- Cost of Treatment: Veterinary care, especially emergency and specialized treatment, can be expensive. One reviewer mentioned spending $860 for their cat's care. Be prepared for potentially significant costs depending on the nature and extent of your pet's medical needs. It is advisable to inquire about estimated costs for procedures and treatments.
- Importance of Pet History: As one reviewer suggests, providing detailed documentation and tracking of your pet's health information can be helpful for the veterinary team in assessing the situation and determining the appropriate course of action.
In summary, MedVet Cleveland appears to be a reputable pet hospital, particularly noted for its emergency services and the expertise of its staff, including specialized surgeons and doctors. While the environment is not described in detail, the focus seems to be on providing quality medical care for animals. Local users should consider MedVet Cleveland as a viable option, especially for urgent medical needs or when their regular veterinarian is unavailable. However, it is crucial to be aware of the potential for significant wait times and treatment costs. Clear communication with the staff regarding these aspects is recommended.
For local pet owners in Cleveland and the surrounding areas, MedVet Cleveland serves as an important resource within the "Pet Hospital" category. It offers a crucial service for emergency situations and likely provides a range of specialized medical and surgical care. While the reviews highlight the quality of care and the professionalism of the staff, they also underscore the importance of understanding the triage process, potential wait times, and the associated costs. Pet owners should weigh these factors when making decisions about their pet's healthcare needs. It is always advisable to have a primary veterinarian for routine care and to understand when an emergency or specialty hospital like MedVet Cleveland is the most appropriate choice.

May 04, 2025 · Jason O'ConnorGreat vet for emergencies. It may seem like the wait times are long but you have to have some level of trust in their abilities to triage pets. Typically if you're pet is critical, it will be appropriately prioritized. The best thing you can do to help them is to make sure you document and track all the information related to your pet so they can properly consider it when assessing criticality. Something that might help here is helping pet owners understand why they may have to wait a little longer while being open and transparent as to whether or not the pet owner should potentially seek another emergency vet in the event that a bunch of critical pets come in. The job the surgeon did was fantastic and our 10 year old was essentially fully recovered from an obstruction and bowel resection within 10 days.
Jan 13, 2025 · Nick HaumannAfter having her emotional support chicken nuggets for five years with no issues, my dog accidentally swallowed one whole. Luckily we noticed this immediately and made it to MedVet Cleveland right away. Thank goodness they quickly triaged us as time was of the essence. Everyone from the receptionists, vet techs, and doctors treated us with such great care, zero judgment, and kept me completely calm (Belle too lol). They were understanding that Belle is reactive to people and dogs and is also fearful of the vets and made sure the care they provided wouldn’t make her more fearful. They acted quickly to induce vomiting and Belle was ready to come home with us shortly after. I cannot thank MedVet Cleveland enough for their compassionate care. ❤️ Side note, Belle said goodbye to her remaining emotional support chicken nuggets this morning as we threw them away to make sure this does not happen again.
May 04, 2025 · BeckyOur cat, Cookie, unexpectedly woke up us in the middle of the night choking and gasping for air. At a moment when we felt very helpless, my husband called MedVet and asked them what to do. The woman on the phone was very patient and kind. We decided to try and make the 20 minute drive and when we arrived the nurse was waiting at the door for us. They discovered Cookie had ingested 6-7 hair ties that were lodged in her throat. Dr. Danish and her team removed the hair ties and saved my little cat's life. They were caring, patient, and very candid about pricing and options. They went above and beyond, even trimming Cookie's very long nails while she was under anesthesia. I can't even express how thankful i am for them and what they did. Thank you so much Dr. Danish and Team!!!

The Doc took care of my baby, she got shots for pain. A plan of action to take going forward, meds to go home and complete home going instructions . I can't thank the Doctor enough for relieving her pain and suffering. She's thriving and doing great !
