This is the best vet I've ever dealt with. The staff always goes the extra mile and Dr. Dunning is fantastic. I had a dog that suffered from stomach issues for years, and prior vets never ran a blood panel to see if she had pancreatitus issues. Dr. Dunning discovered she had it, and we put her on a prescription food diet and the stomach issues finally after so many years, settled down. They are compassionate, caring and understanding. When it came time to put my sweet Bella down, they worked with me to see that she went to her final rest in the comfort and familiarity of her own home.

I have been going here for several years now for my African Grey and my elderly rescue dog Oliver and they have always been awesome with every visit. They have helped me so much over the last few years. I wanted to post this review because they really touched my heart today. They fit me in at the very end of the day when they were slammed. They really will do anything possible for their patients and the owners who love them. Something happened during that appointment that was out of my control and they were not just there for Oliver but they were there for me and very understanding of my situation and for that I am grateful.

Perfect place for our fur babies, excellent service and very kind and understanding staff. I just wanna say thank you to them for helping our gypsy rose! After a terrible fall down the stairs and hurting her neck! It has been a long recovery and still more to go but she is a fighter and so strong willed. She is now going up and down stairs!!!

The vet seemed great, but after a few visits Dr Clarence diagnosed my dog with bladder cancer based on only an x-ray and a urinalysis that showed oxalate crystals in my dogs urine. He said doing a biopsy was too risky and could cause the cancer to spread. We were devastated and heartbroken. I asked the vet again whether we could do any additional tests, and he insisted no, that it was bladder cancer and he's treating five other dogs for the same thing. He told me to just buy a chinese herbal supplement and a medication every month from his clinic to treat the cancer... I am SO THANKFUL we got a second opinion. After much tears and suffering, plus around $2000 in additional testing (blood tests, urinalysis, two ultrasounds 6 months apart by a BOARD CERTIFIED ultrasound tech), we confirmed our dog did NOT have cancer AT ALL. It's now 3 years later, and our dog is 14 years old and healthy as can be. The oxalate crystals turned out to be solely from his diet, which we changed and the crystals went away. A few months after all this, I called Medicine Man back to ask to talk to the Dr Clarence. The receptionist wouldn't connect me to him or have him call me back. I told the receptionist to relay a message to the vet, but don't know if they did. I never heard back. It seems he just didn't care about our case anymore since we were no longer at his clinic. Overall, this was a horrifying experience. I can't even begin to explain the pain Dr Clarence put us through. Months of thinking our dog was dying when he wasn't. So many tears and so much heartbreak. Bladder cancer only accounts for 2% (TWO PERCENT) of all cancer cases in dogs. The probability of Medicine Man having FIVE dogs at the same time, all with bladder cancer, in a city if only 20k people, is ridiculously small. Due to this, my biggest fear is that this vet is misdiagnosing other dogs with cancer, too. I feel so bad for owners of the five other dogs he mentioned who think their dog has bladder cancer...and maybe some do, but I urge EVERYONE to get a second opinion. Healthy Petz and Morganton Animal Clinic are both great places with loving, caring vets that do amazing work and follow through. I would never recommend Medicine Man to anyone, ever. Even just writing this review had me in tears again, but I had to do it. Peace and love to all.

I’ll do this in sections the first part being how my baby Pikachu was treated and the second will be how I was treated. They were so kind and gentle with my sweet boy. It was so nice to see all the rat information around the room. They complimented him and it was obvious they had a genuine love for rats and their job. As for how I was treated. I was at first very afraid to go to them as I’ve heard mixed things about the business. Having no luck finding someone that could get my boy in soon I contacted them. They were able to see him the same day! I have severe social anxiety and anxiety when it comes to my pets health in general so I was internally freaking out. They were so patient and understanding to my financial issues and finding what plan worked best for us Both. They greeted me with a smile and made me feel so very welcome. Thank you so much staff for taking such good care of my sweet pikachu and for being so kind to me! I will be bringing all my exotics here from now own.
