This place is so fabulous I almost don’t want others to know because they’ll get too busy. I luckily had a bad experience with another vet in the area and took my frenchie and his records to check out a couple of other vets in the area knowing he needed surgery. Her office doesn’t have all the fancy bells and whistles of another I visited. That’s why I like it. One visit is all it took for my doodle and frenchie to become clients. You can tell this is her life. She has dogs and cats in the clinic wandering around just because she cares about all animals. There’s even a resident cat that is well taken care of outside. I have to add all the techs working there are so nice too. Everyone in the office has people skills that not all practices have.

Welcome to Mc Neal Veterinary Hospital: Boyd Candance L DVM
Mc Neal Veterinary Hospital, under the dedicated leadership of Dr. Boyd Candance L DVM, is a highly regarded "Pet Hospital" situated at 680 Petigru Dr, Pawleys Island, SC 29585, USA. This veterinary facility is celebrated by local users for its unique blend of professional care and a profoundly compassionate, family-like atmosphere. It operates on the core belief that the bond between pets and humans is invaluable, a philosophy that permeates every aspect of their service.
The environment at Mc Neal Veterinary Hospital is notably distinct from more conventional, sterile clinic settings. As described by a delighted customer, the office "doesn’t have all the fancy bells and whistles of another I visited. That’s why I like it." This suggests a preference for substance over superficiality, focusing on genuine care rather than ostentatious decor. A truly remarkable and heartwarming feature of the hospital's environment is the presence of "dogs and cats in the clinic wandering around just because she cares about all animals." This creates an incredibly low-stress and welcoming atmosphere, particularly for pets who may be anxious in clinical settings. It allows pets to acclimate to the environment in a more natural way, reducing fear and anxiety. Furthermore, the mention of "a resident cat that is well taken care of outside" underscores the hospital's commitment to animal welfare beyond just the patients receiving treatment. This inherent love for animals by Dr. Boyd and her team transforms a routine veterinary visit into a more comfortable and reassuring experience for both pets and their owners. The collective demeanor of the staff contributes significantly to this positive environment, with customers consistently praising them for being "kind and loving" and possessing "people skills that not all practices have." This holistic approach to the clinic environment fosters trust and makes it a comforting place for pets and their human companions.
Mc Neal Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, addressing the diverse health needs of pets. While specific detailed lists of every single service are not provided in the given information, a general understanding of their offerings can be gleaned from the reviews and their online presence. Their primary focus is on "professional care," which inherently includes routine check-ups, preventative medicine, vaccinations, and diagnostics. A crucial service highlighted by a customer is their availability for "(office hours) emergency" situations. This indicates a commitment to urgent care during regular business hours, providing essential support to pet owners when their animals need immediate attention. This responsiveness is a significant factor in building trust and ensuring timely intervention for acute conditions. Furthermore, Mc Neal Veterinary Hospital also offers pet boarding services, providing a "home away from home" for pets when their owners are away. The acquisition and upgrade of Coastal Kennels in 2021 to incorporate boarding and grooming services demonstrate their expansion and commitment to providing a full spectrum of pet care solutions. While grooming is mentioned as "coming soon," it signifies their intention to further enhance their service portfolio, making them a one-stop destination for many pet care needs.
The key features of Mc Neal Veterinary Hospital revolve around the exceptional quality of care provided by Dr. Boyd Candance L DVM and her dedicated team. Customers frequently express profound satisfaction with the level of "professional care" and the "kind and loving" interactions they receive. The ability to handle surgical needs, as evidenced by the French bulldog requiring surgery, indicates a capability for more complex medical procedures. The personal touch from Dr. Boyd, where "you can tell this is her life," highlights her deep passion and commitment to veterinary medicine. This personal dedication is a cornerstone of the practice, fostering a strong bond with clients and their pets. The consistently positive remarks about the "nice" and "helpful" veterinary technicians and the entire office staff reinforce the notion of a well-coordinated and compassionate team. The long-standing presence of Head Veterinary Technician and Office Manager Eliza Gibbs since 1996 further attests to the stability and experience within the practice, contributing to consistent, high-quality care. This established team, combined with Dr. Boyd's continuous dedication since she began working there in 1989 and later purchased the practice in 2013, forms the bedrock of their respected reputation in Pawleys Island.
While specific promotional information such as discounts or special offers is not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, the hospital's growth and expansion into boarding and grooming suggest a business that is actively seeking to meet community needs and attract new clients. Given the strong word-of-mouth recommendations, it is likely that their reputation serves as a primary form of promotion. For those interested in their services, direct contact is recommended. Mc Neal Veterinary Hospital can be reached at (843) 237-9212 or via mobile at +1 843-237-9212. Their operating hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with Sunday being closed. All visits are "by appointment only," indicating a structured approach to managing patient flow and ensuring adequate time for each consultation. Pet owners are encouraged to call ahead for appointments, especially for emergency situations during office hours, to ensure prompt and efficient care.
