*****RUN AWAY***** VCA corporate should be HORRIFIED!!!!! OVERCHARGED UNDERSERVED. If I could give zero stars, I would. I’ve been bringing my dogs here for over 16 years, but that ends today. This was by far the most unprofessional service I have ever received. Not only did they overcharge me for a vet to administer vaccines, but I had specifically made an appointment with the tech to give the shots. I arrived 30 minutes early, yet ended up waiting over an hour. My dog was already stressed, and the lack of professionalism only made it worse. After 45 minutes, another patient walked in with a dog and demanded to be seen immediately. They took that patient in while I was still waiting for the tech to give my dog two shots. The tech finally came in after an hour and tried to upsell me on additional services I didn’t ask for, attempting to overcharge me even more. Then, the vet came in and mentioned they were understaffed, which, frankly, is not my problem. I pointed out that if you’re giving my dog the shots, you will still charge me, to which the vet replied, “No, I won’t.” I was already planning to move my dog to a more compassionate and qualified office, but this visit confirmed it. This office has clearly changed, and the new vets seem more focused on overcharging and underdelivering. I’ve already contacted VCA corporate regarding the appalling treatment I received. I’ve lived across the street for 30 years, and this is how they treat their long-time clients. Apparrently there was a lawsuit of this exact practice with VCA office is LA - funny. I thought I was over reacting... FIND someone who cares about your pets not about their wallets.

Welcome to Manhattan Veterinary Group
For pet owners in Singapore seeking reliable and trustworthy veterinary care under the umbrella of a "Pet Hospital," it is essential to consider a range of factors, including the quality of service, transparency in costs, and the overall professionalism of the staff. While Manhattan Veterinary Group is located in New York, USA, the contrasting experiences shared by its customers offer valuable lessons for pet owners everywhere when evaluating a veterinary practice. Understanding these dynamics can help Singaporean users identify crucial aspects to look for – or avoid – in their local pet hospitals.
The provided information offers limited insight into the physical environment of Manhattan Veterinary Group. One positive review focuses on the staff's demeanor and the transparency of the process, suggesting a potentially welcoming and communicative environment, at least during positive interactions. However, the strongly negative review paints a picture of disorganization and a lack of respect for clients' time, which could indicate a stressful environment for both pets and owners during busy periods. For pet owners in Singapore, this highlights the importance of a pet hospital maintaining a calm and efficient environment to minimize stress for their animals, alongside a welcoming and organized reception area.
The services offered by Manhattan Veterinary Group, as a "Pet Hospital," appear to include routine procedures such as vaccinations and general check-ups. The positive review mentions running tests and providing cost estimates beforehand, indicating a commitment to informed consent. However, the negative review details an instance where a veterinarian administered vaccines (a service typically performed by a technician at a lower cost, according to the reviewer's understanding), leading to an overcharge. This suggests that while standard veterinary services are likely available, the billing practices and the delegation of tasks might be areas of concern. For pet owners in Singapore, clarity regarding who performs specific procedures and the associated costs is a crucial aspect to inquire about at their local pet hospitals.
One of the key features highlighted in the positive review is the transparency provided by Dr. Schaff. The reviewer specifically appreciated being informed about the types of tests, the reasons behind them, and receiving a cost estimate before any procedure was performed. This proactive communication and emphasis on informed consent are highly desirable features in any "Pet Hospital," as they build trust and allow pet owners to make informed decisions about their animal's care without unexpected financial burdens. The opportunity to ask questions at every step was also valued, indicating a patient-centered approach.
Conversely, a significant negative feature reported is the alleged overcharging and unprofessional service. The long-time client who vowed never to return described being overcharged for a veterinarian to administer vaccines, a service they had specifically scheduled with a technician. The excessive wait time, the prioritization of a walk-in patient over a scheduled appointment, and the attempted upselling further contributed to a deeply negative experience. The reviewer also mentioned the veterinarian citing understaffing as an excuse, which was deemed unacceptable. This highlights the importance of efficient scheduling, respect for clients' time, and transparent billing practices in a reputable "Pet Hospital." The mention of a similar lawsuit against a VCA office (Manhattan Veterinary Group is reportedly under VCA corporate) raises further concerns about potential systemic issues.
The stark contrast between the two reviews is a critical point. One first-time pet owner had an overwhelmingly positive experience characterized by clarity and care, while a long-term client felt deeply mistreated and overcharged. This suggests potential inconsistencies in service quality or billing practices within Manhattan Veterinary Group. For pet owners in Singapore, this underscores the need to look for pet hospitals with consistently positive reviews across various clients and over time, indicating reliable and dependable service.
While no specific promotional information is provided, the positive review implicitly promotes Manhattan Veterinary Group as a place where first-time pet owners can feel calm and informed, with transparent communication about costs and procedures. Dr. Schaff and the staff are portrayed as "incredible." However, the strongly negative review serves as a significant warning, potentially deterring prospective clients due to concerns about overcharging, unprofessionalism, and poor client service. For local users in Singapore, this situation emphasizes that a "Pet Hospital's" reputation is built on consistent positive experiences and that negative feedback, especially concerning billing and client relations, should be carefully considered.
In the context of the "Pet Hospital" platform category, Manhattan Veterinary Group presents a complex picture. While they demonstrate the potential for transparent and caring service, as highlighted by the positive review, the serious allegations of overcharging and unprofessionalism from a long-term client cannot be ignored. For pet owners in Singapore seeking a "Pet Hospital," the lessons from these reviews are invaluable: prioritize transparency in costs and procedures, ensure the clinic has a reputation for respecting appointment times and providing professional service, and look for consistent positive feedback regarding both the medical care and the client experience. It is crucial to find a veterinary practice that not only cares for your pets but also values its clients.
In conclusion, the experiences at Manhattan Veterinary Group, as reflected in these two contrasting reviews, offer important considerations for pet owners in Singapore when choosing a "Pet Hospital." The positive account highlights the value of a veterinarian like Dr. Schaff who prioritizes transparency and clear communication, especially for new pet owners. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about potential overcharging, unprofessionalism, and a lack of respect for clients' time. For local users, this underscores the need for thorough research, considering a wide range of feedback, and prioritizing a veterinary practice that demonstrates consistent quality of care, ethical billing practices, and a commitment to professional and respectful client service. The starkly different experiences suggest that service quality might vary, making comprehensive due diligence essential when selecting a "Pet Hospital" for your beloved animal companions.

Mar 17, 2025 · wendy herzbergMy husband and I are first-time pet owners, and our last experience at a different vet left us feeling kind of wary… but Dr. Schaff and the rest of the staff here are so incredible and made us feel so calm and informed. Dr. Schaff was very upfront and clear about we type of tests they were going to run and why, plus an estimate of what it would cost BEFORE they performed any test, and he gave us an opportunity to ask questions at every step along the way. Thank you, Manhattan Veterinary Group! You guys rock!
Apr 08, 2025 · Grace HooverBecoming a single new pet owner a few years ago was hard but this location and the doctors are so informative. They set reasonable expectations and steps in proper care of any issues I’ve had. Dr. Barandica has been one of the most helpful vets I’ve encountered. She helped me from the start of a pet illness all the way to the claims appeal process I’ve been having to go through. Dr. Barandica went above and beyond for me and I truly appreciate the effort that has went into my pets care. Even though this location is far and couldn’t squeeze in a surgery this doctor went out of her way to find places closer to me that would offer the surgery my pet needed. From that to addressing all my questions and concerns I could not be more satisfied with the service that was provided. Thank you!
Mar 19, 2025 · Lucas DuBoisOur miniature schnauzer was a patient here for many years. We came for annual check ups, to get vaccines, prescription refills, and when she was sick. Most recently our girl was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor through an aspiration done by Dr Barandica who was wonderful and we really appreciated because she herself had experience with schnauzers (if you know you know the terrier attitude). Unfortunately our dogs condition deteriorated rapidly and Manhattan Veterinary Group were able to clear their schedules to get us in within an hours notice so that she could be put to rest painlessly. Dr Schaff and the technicians provided the most empathetic care during our dogs final hours. While it was the most difficult decision, the team at Manhattan Veterinary Group made the hardest experience less overwhelming. We are so grateful to everyone at Manhattan Veterinary Group for everything over the years.
