My dog died because of Lupo! He gave him the Librela shot insisting he was in pain from “Torn acls” (he NEVER had torn ACLs) and said there are “no side effects” and “he needs it”. Within 24hrs my dog lost mobility in his legs, neurological issues started immediately, anorexia, UTI, pancreatitis …ALL the literature on that drug says it’s not for dogs with underlying conditions or any other health issues present at the time the shot is given. Huck died in my arms 20 days later, BONES because the nerves in his entire body shut off bec of that drug. Lupo is getting charged with Malpractice. I also asked him for a refund (the LEAST he could do) and he said he wouldn’t unless I sign a waiver not to sue him and take down my reviews. I hope he gets shut down. He doesn’t deserve to have his license. *This review won’t allow me to post videos but the last 3 pics are from the days before I took Huck in. We were playing at the beach all day. The day before that we were hiking! HE DIDNT NEED THE SHOT! The guilt and pain losing him because of Lupo’s carelessness is something I have to live with for the rest of my life. Shame on him!

Based on the available online reviews, experiences with Malibu Vet Clinic appear to be varied. One reviewer shared a deeply distressing experience involving their dog, Huck, who was administered a Librela injection by Dr. Lupo. According to the review, Dr. Lupo insisted the dog needed the shot for supposed torn ACLs, despite the owner's assertion that this diagnosis was incorrect. The reviewer claims they were told there were no side effects and that the medication was necessary. Within 24 hours of the injection, the dog allegedly experienced a rapid decline in health, including loss of mobility, neurological issues, anorexia, a urinary tract infection, and pancreatitis. The reviewer states that this aligns with literature indicating the drug is not suitable for dogs with underlying conditions. Tragically, the dog passed away 20 days later. The reviewer also mentions pursuing a malpractice charge against Dr. Lupo and claims that a refund was offered only in exchange for signing a waiver not to sue and removing online reviews. This account paints a picture of alleged misdiagnosis, lack of proper consideration for contraindications, and a deeply negative outcome.

In contrast, another reviewer expresses complete trust and satisfaction with Malibu Vet Clinic. This pet owner, who resides in Beverly Hills, states that they exclusively bring their dogs to this clinic, emphasizing their belief that their "dogs/children" are safe and well-cared for there. They describe the clinic as loving, reliable, and responsible, highlighting the "lot of love" present. This reviewer specifically praises Dr. John Lupo as an "amazing veterinarian and a good person," and commends the entire team for being careful, dedicated, and attentive. This positive feedback suggests a different experience, characterized by trust, care, and a positive perception of Dr. Lupo and the staff.

Given these contrasting reviews, it is challenging to definitively characterize the environment, services, and features of Malibu Vet Clinic without further objective information. However, we can infer some aspects based on the limited details provided:

  • Veterinary Services: The clinic offers veterinary care for dogs and likely other companion animals, such as cats, although this is not explicitly stated. The services appear to include diagnostics (as implied by the alleged misdiagnosis), treatments (including injections like Librela), and general pet care.
  • Staff: The clinic employs veterinarians, including Dr. John Lupo, and other support staff, such as vet techs and front office personnel (mentioned in other clinic reviews, likely applicable here as well).
  • Environment: One reviewer describes a sense of "love" within the clinic, which could suggest a warm and caring atmosphere. However, no specific details about the physical premises, such as cleanliness, organization, or facilities, are provided in these reviews.
  • Customer Experience: The customer experiences appear to be highly polarized, ranging from profound grief and accusations of malpractice to complete trust and strong positive recommendations.

No specific promotional information is available in the provided text. It is unknown whether Malibu Vet Clinic offers any special deals, packages, or discounts on their services.

In conclusion, Malibu Vet Clinic in Malibu, CA, is a Pet Hospital that provides veterinary services. The limited information available through online reviews presents a complex and conflicting picture of the clinic. One review alleges serious negligence and a tragic outcome, while another expresses unwavering trust and praises the veterinarian and staff. Potential local users should be aware of these differing opinions and consider seeking further information or clarification before making decisions about their pet's care. Due to the gravity of the negative review, it is crucial for pet owners to conduct thorough research and potentially seek second opinions when making choices about veterinary care. The positive review suggests that some clients have had excellent experiences, highlighting the difficulty in forming a definitive overall assessment based solely on these two contrasting accounts. For further details about the clinic's services, environment, and team, direct contact with Malibu Vet Clinic is recommended.

Thank You to Dr. Lupo and His Team! For the past nine years, we’ve been through our fair share of Labrador life challenges, and Dr. Lupo has been my dog’s hero. Prince recently went in for a procedure to remove a tumor from his mouth and have his teeth cleaned. It was nerve-wracking, but I knew he was in the best hands. From the moment we walked in, they made sure I understood the procedure, answered all my questions, and kept me updated throughout the day. Prince came home comfortable and well taken care of, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

My dog had to have many teeth pulled, and Dr. Lupo was amazing and so fair. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. I would urge anyone who is on the fence on what Vet to go to that lives in Malibu I would strongly suggest meeting Dr. Lupo and his staff. Thank you, Dr. Lupo.

Dr. Lupo is an amazing human being and a fantastic vet. This guy is a true gem. He really cares about animals and about the owner of the animals too. He listens and hears you, he addresses all your concerns. He is genuine, caring, attentive, thorough, competent, ethical and truly loves his job. For the location of his office and the fantastic care he provides, his fee's are reasonable, his patients well-being always come first (very rare trait found amongst vets these days). He did Lola's spay back in 2017 and on Mon May 15, 2023 he removed a small mass on her eyelid, a small mass on her chest and performed deep dental cleaning along with a tooth extraction all on the same day. I get super nervous for my dog to undergo general anesthesia, and I would only go to the best, Dr. Lupo. Thank you Dr. Lupo for taking such good care of Lola. We are so grateful to have you be Lola's vet. I also wanted to mention that his staff is always upbeat, super helpful, professional and all care about animals. The entire team at Malibu Vet Clinic is awesome.
