Welcome to Maine Veterinary Internal Medicine
Maine Veterinary Internal Medicine, located at 15 York St, Building 9 Suite 102, Biddeford, ME 04005, USA, is a specialized outpatient veterinary internal medicine clinic dedicated to providing advanced diagnostic and treatment recommendations for challenging illnesses in dogs and cats. This clinic offers a unique option for specialty care in a smaller, locally-owned setting within the Biddeford community. You can contact them by phone at (207) 298-2467 or +1 207-298-2467.
Maine Veterinary Internal Medicine is situated within the Pepperell Mill campus in downtown Biddeford, providing a distinct and easily accessible location. The clinic has a dedicated parking space directly outside its entrance, with clear instructions for finding it – entering through a white pavilion and then a short hall to the left. For times when this space is occupied, additional parking is available in unmarked spaces outside Building 9 near a mural, or in 2-hour marked parking spaces by Rover Bagel. The clinic emphasizes a comfortable and safe environment for its patients, especially those who may be anxious. Customer reviews highlight a warm atmosphere where staff are "always so accommodating with our anxious boy, who always felt safe and relaxed in their office." This indicates a conscious effort to minimize stress for pets during their visits. The clinic operates by appointment only, which allows for dedicated time with each patient and helps manage the flow, contributing to a calmer environment. Dr. Dani Rondeau established this practice in December 2023, with a vision to provide a more personalized specialty care experience outside of a large multi-specialty hospital setting. This boutique approach likely translates to a more intimate and focused environment for both pets and their owners.
Maine Veterinary Internal Medicine specializes exclusively in internal medicine, focusing on complex cases that often require advanced diagnostic and treatment strategies. They work closely with primary care veterinarians to provide specialized care. Their key services include:
Internal Medicine Consultation: This is a core service where Dr. Dani and her team provide expert consultation for more challenging illnesses. This involves reviewing the pet's medical history, conducting thorough examinations, and formulating advanced diagnostic and treatment plans for diseases affecting various internal systems.
Abdominal Ultrasound: Available by appointment on an outpatient basis, abdominal ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique used to visualize internal organs and structures within the abdomen, aiding in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal, renal, hepatic, and other internal conditions. They also perform ultrasound-guided aspirates for diagnostic sampling.
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: They offer upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, a procedure that involves inserting a flexible tube with a camera to visualize the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. This is used for diagnosing gastrointestinal diseases and for the removal of foreign material from the stomach and esophagus, also available by appointment on an outpatient basis.
Management of Complex Illnesses: Their expertise covers a wide range of internal medicine conditions, including but not limited to:
Gastrointestinal diseases (e.g., chronic vomiting, diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease)
Endocrine diseases (e.g., diabetes, Cushing's disease, Addison's disease, thyroid disorders)
Renal and urogenital diseases (kidney disease, urinary tract infections)
Hepatic and biliary diseases (liver and gallbladder conditions)
Immune-mediated and hematologic diseases (blood disorders, autoimmune conditions)
Respiratory diseases
Infectious diseases
Hypertension
Diagnostic Cytology: The examination of cells under a microscope to diagnose various conditions.
Maine Veterinary Internal Medicine, and particularly Dr. Dani Rondeau, are distinguished by several key features:
Board-Certified Internal Medicine Specialist: Dr. Dani Rondeau, DVM, DACVIM, is a board-certified veterinary internal medicine specialist. This signifies extensive additional training and rigorous examination beyond her veterinary degree. She graduated from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and completed a three-year residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, achieving board certification in 2012. Her expertise is highly specialized, ensuring top-tier care for complex internal conditions.
Outpatient Specialty Clinic: Unlike larger multi-specialty hospitals that may involve hospitalization, Maine Veterinary Internal Medicine operates as an outpatient clinic. This model can be less stressful for pets and more convenient for owners for certain diagnostics and consultations.
Highly Compassionate and Personable Care: Customer reviews overwhelmingly praise Dr. Dani and her team for being "absolutely amazing humans," "caring, personable, loving." They are noted for their deep empathy, making a "stressful time much easier" and being "always so accommodating with our anxious boy." This strong emphasis on compassion and personalized attention is a consistent theme.
Thorough and Informative Approach: Clients highlight Dr. Dani's thoroughness in her care, ensuring they "understood everything that was going on" and providing clear communication. This commitment to client education is crucial for managing complex medical conditions.
Focus on Pet Comfort and Safety: The ability of anxious pets to feel "safe and relaxed" in their office speaks to their deliberate efforts in creating a calming environment, even for pets undergoing advanced diagnostic procedures.
Specific Professional Interests: Dr. Dani's professional interests include gastroenterology, abdominal ultrasound, autoimmune disease, infectious disease, diseases of the urinary tract, hypertension, hepatobiliary disease, and cytology. This focused expertise allows for highly specialized and up-to-date treatment in these areas.
Local and Independent: As a locally-owned practice opened by Dr. Dani in December 2023, it offers an alternative to larger corporate veterinary centers, potentially fostering a more community-oriented and personalized feel.

Feb 01, 2025 · margaret parkhurstDr. Rondeau is an amazing doctor, and also a great person. She makes sure she listens to my concerns, always does a thorough ultrasound, and takes the time to explain her recommendations and reasoning. Whenever possible, I will go to her with my cats when they need an internist/ultrasound.
May 23, 2025 · Lindsey MortlockI'd love to shout from the rooftops about the care that my pet and others I'm familiar with get when they work with Dr. Rondeau and her team. Her professionalism, knowledge and compassion for pet and owner are wonderful. My dog Olive was very pleased with the "medical belly rub" (abdominal ultrasound) and we got the information succinctly reported to us so we could move forward with her care. I would recommend Dr. Rondeau for wonderful insight in all things internal medicine.
