Yesterday morning I contacted Little Friends because my baby boy was not eating/drinking and wasn’t acting like himself at all, and they got him in right away. They kept him for the day, but when I got to bring him home he was eating, playing and even making biscuits again. Dr. Underwood and her staff are amazing. The care they gave my boy was exceptional and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a vet.

Welcome to Little Friends Veterinary Services

Little Friends Veterinary Services, located at 6793B McAlpine St, Lyons Falls, NY 13368, USA, is a distinctive "Pet Hospital" that stands out for its personalized, small-town, and family-owned approach to veterinary care. Led by Dr. Underwood, this practice emphasizes creating a safe and comforting environment where pets and their families feel truly cared for. It positions itself as a local and accessible veterinary hospital, offering a wide range of services and goods that cater to the health and well-being of a diverse array of companion animals.

The environment at Little Friends Veterinary Services is one of its most remarkable features. Unlike larger, busier clinics, they adopt a unique "one client in the door at a time" policy. This means the examination area is typically in the front room, providing an intimate and focused setting for each appointment. This intentional design minimizes stress for pets, as they don't have to contend with other animals or people in a crowded waiting area. Clients consistently praise this approach, noting that it allows both pet and owner to "focus on your visit, not worry about other animals or people." The clinic is described as having a "small, quiet office," contributing to a calm atmosphere. For feline patients, they go a step further, offering a "quiet, warm, safe space with soft music and NO dogs anywhere" for luxury kitty stays, highlighting their dedication to feline comfort. The overall impression is one of a clean, well-managed, and thoughtful space designed to reduce anxiety and enhance the quality of the veterinary experience.

Little Friends Veterinary Services offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services, addressing the needs of pets at all life stages, from puppies and kittens to seniors. Their core offerings include preventive health care, which is paramount to long-term pet wellness. This encompasses regular wellness examinations, where pets receive a thorough assessment to catch potential health issues early. Vaccinations are a cornerstone, including Rabies and Distemper for both dogs and cats, along with specialized vaccines like Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Kennel Cough for dogs, and Feline Leukemia for cats. Parasite prevention is also a key focus, with safe and effective preventatives for fleas, ticks, and heartworms available for both canine and feline patients. They provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding pet health and welfare, empowering owners to make informed decisions.

Beyond preventive care, Little Friends Veterinary Services handles illness and emergencies, demonstrating their commitment to prompt care, as evidenced by a review where a sick pet was seen "right away" and kept for the day. They offer laboratory testing, including stool and urine testing, heartworm and Lyme testing, feline leukemia/FIV testing, and all types of blood tests for accurate diagnosis. Surgical services are provided, with a particular focus on feline surgical services, including their widely recognized "Community Spay and Neuter program" for cats. Limited canine surgical services are also available. Dental care for felines is also provided, recognizing the importance of oral health. Furthermore, they offer diagnosis and management of chronic health conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, and skin conditions, providing ongoing support for pets with long-term needs. A unique specialization includes behavioral consultations for cats, addressing issues like inappropriate elimination and aggression, and training and behavior consultations for dogs and puppies. They even provide grooming services for cats, including bathing, brushing, nail trims, sanitary clips, and full lion cut clips. Notably, they also offer care for a wider range of pets beyond dogs and cats, including small mammals, birds, reptiles, and even fish, making them a versatile resource for the community.

Several features distinguish Little Friends Veterinary Services from other clinics. The most prominent is their highly personalized approach. Clients consistently experience "the same doctor and friendly, caring staff for your pets," fostering a strong bond and ensuring continuity of care. They allocate a "FULL HALF-HOUR with the doctor" for each visit, allowing ample time for thorough examinations, discussions, and addressing all client concerns, a stark contrast to shorter, rushed appointments at some other practices. The trust clients place in Dr. Underwood's expertise is evident, with one review stating, "I have full confidence in her expertise and her desire to make pets’ lives the best they can be." This trust is further cemented by the fact that they "took us in during Covid when all other vets near by wouldn’t," demonstrating their dedication to the community even during challenging times. Their special focus on feline behavior and the "Community Spay and Neuter program" for cats, which has no qualification requirements, makes essential care accessible to a broader population. The ability to text the clinic for quick responses and the availability of free home delivery for certain pet diets (like Purina) further enhance client convenience.

While specific, time-sensitive promotional offers are not extensively detailed through general search, Little Friends Veterinary Services incorporates several elements that function as ongoing promotions and value propositions for their clients. The "Community Spay and Neuter program" for cats is a continuous offering that provides a significantly subsidized cost for essential surgical services, including a full examination, surgery, pain medication, vaccinations, and dewormer, making it a major promotional draw for cat owners. The explicit mention of "free home delivery of Purina diets" and the availability of Royal Canin diets at their office suggests a focus on providing convenient access to high-quality pet nutrition, potentially with competitive pricing or loyalty incentives. Their transparent pricing for services, coupled with the extended consultation time, ensures clients receive comprehensive care without feeling rushed or surprised by hidden fees. They accept pet insurance, which is a major financial planning tool for pet owners, and also work with treatment financing solutions like CareCredit, helping clients manage larger veterinary expenses. The overall emphasis on personalized care, consistent doctor-patient relationships, and a stress-free environment itself serves as a compelling "promotion" for pet owners seeking a more intimate and dedicated veterinary experience. For the most up-to-date information on current promotions or wellness packages, it is advisable for local users to contact Little Friends Veterinary Services directly at (315) 348-6389 or +1 315-348-6389, or visit their official website.

It’s unusual vet clinic—one client in the door at a time because the examination area is in the front room. The vet is direct and informative and all the staff are friendly. They are fast to meet our needs such as proof of vaccination, medication refill, general questions. I have full confidence in her expertise and her desire to make pets’ lives the best they can be. She’s in charge of our German Shepherd and two kitties, and I’d trust her with my own medical issues lol. She took us in during Covid when all other vets near by wouldn’t so for that alone, I owe her my greatest thanks.

I would 100% recommend this vet. I needed an emergency appointment for my golden retriever and they got him in right away. They were extremely accommodating and kind. They also ensured my golden was as comfortable as possible and took their time to not rush the process.
