My cat is petrified of vets. It takes every ounce of emotional strength for both of us to go to a veterinary facility. But everytime I have taken Tux to Dr.Day, I have been able to go in with him, calm him down and stay with him until he is sedated and calm. I feel totally comfortable leaving Tux in his care and I love how they care for him. Now, Dr Day's ultrasound imaging is thorough and precise. He covers everything in detail and its easy to understand. He can definitely do a proper job with accuracy and professionalism. I highly recommend Larabee Animal Medicine for your pets ultrasound needs. Thank you Dr DAY, Tux's Dad

Welcome to Larrabee Animal Medicine
Larrabee Animal Medicine, situated at 1110 Larrabee Ave #202, Bellingham, WA 98225, USA, operates within the "Pet Hospital" category, offering highly specialized veterinary care. While comprehensive general practice services are typically expected from a "Pet Hospital," the available customer reviews strongly highlight a particular strength and focus of this facility: advanced diagnostic imaging, specifically veterinary ultrasound, expertly performed by Dr. Day. This specialization makes Larrabee Animal Medicine a crucial resource for pets requiring detailed internal examinations and for owners seeking precise diagnoses.
The environment at Larrabee Animal Medicine, as described by clients, is one of calm professionalism and genuine care, particularly vital for pets who experience anxiety during vet visits. One reviewer notes that their "petrified" cat, Tux, was able to remain calm and comfortable because the owner could stay with him until he was sedated. This indicates a patient-centric approach to the clinic environment, where the emotional well-being of the animal is prioritized. The staff, including Jackie at the front desk, are consistently described as professional and detail-oriented, creating a welcoming and reassuring atmosphere. This attention to detail and pet comfort extends throughout the entire diagnostic process, aiming to minimize stress for both the pet and the owner. The overall impression is of a facility that understands the nuances of animal behavior and the emotional impact of veterinary visits on owners, providing a supportive and tranquil setting for often complex procedures.
The primary service for which Larrabee Animal Medicine receives outstanding commendation is its veterinary ultrasound imaging. Dr. Day's expertise in this area is a recurring theme in customer feedback. Clients praise the ultrasound imaging as "thorough and precise," noting that he "covers everything in detail and its easy to understand." This level of clarity and accuracy is invaluable in diagnostic medicine, enabling pet owners to fully grasp their pet's condition and the rationale behind recommended treatments. Dr. Day's "table-side manner" is also highlighted as exceptional; he meticulously and calmly gathers background information, ensuring owners feel comfortable and cared for without any sense of rushing. His approach to explaining complex medical findings, such as differentiating between four possible causes for a heart murmur and clarifying why three were ruled out, showcases his dedication to educating pet parents thoroughly. This deep dive into diagnostic puzzles, even after likely performing "thousands (tens of thousands?)" of ultrasounds, demonstrates a genuine commitment to each unique case.
While the reviews specifically emphasize ultrasound services, a facility categorized as a "Pet Hospital" would typically offer a broader range of veterinary care. This would generally include:
- General Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care.
- Diagnostic Imaging: Beyond ultrasound, possibly X-rays for skeletal or general internal assessments.
- Internal Medicine Consultations: Leveraging Dr. Day's diagnostic capabilities to help manage complex internal conditions.
- Sedation/Anesthesia: As mentioned in the reviews for facilitating calm and effective ultrasound procedures, indicating capabilities for safe sedation.
- Laboratory Services: To complement diagnostic imaging, potentially including blood work, urinalysis, and other essential tests to provide a full picture of a pet's health.
- Referral Services: Given their specialized focus, Larrabee Animal Medicine likely works closely with general practitioners, providing specialized diagnostic support and potentially referring for follow-up treatment based on their findings.
The key feature that sets Larrabee Animal Medicine apart, based on client experiences, is the profound level of care and detailed communication provided by Dr. Day and his team. The emotional support extended to owners of anxious pets, the meticulous approach to diagnostics, and the clear, unhurried explanation of results create an experience that goes beyond standard veterinary visits. The consistent professionalism and genuine affection for animals, as exemplified by Jackie at the front desk, significantly enhance the overall client experience. The sentiment that Bellingham is fortunate to have "such an impressive local veterinary resource" underscores the high regard in which Larrabee Animal Medicine is held by its clientele, particularly for specialized diagnostic needs.
Regarding promotional information, specific details are not provided in the given text. Nov 18, 2024 · Ken RambergI've never met a vet with a better "table-side" manner than Dr. Day. He meticulously and calmly gathered background information about my cat, while making me feel comfortable and cared for. There was no sense of rushing. He described the entire sedation/ultrasound process in detail - no surprises. Dr. Day is obviously very data-oriented, and when we went over the results of my cat's ultrasounds he walked me though everything; it's obvious that although he has no doubt done thousands (tens of thousands?) of ultrasounds, each one provides a new and unique diagnostic puzzle for him to solve, and he walked me though every step. For example, he described to me that there are 4 possible causes for my cat's heart murmur - and he summarized the 3 reasons that weren't the answer for my cat, and why, along with the one that was the root cause. The entire experience was really well done. Jackie, who was at the front desk as well as being the person who did the initial intake interview, was professional, also detail-oriented, and she seemed to genuinely like my cat. This was very comforting. Overall I was super impressed, and I'm very happy to know that that Bellingham has such an impressive local veterinary resource.
Feb 06, 2021 · Emily GoodinDr Roy was very attentive and thorough. He did a detailed intake and told me exactly what he was going to do. After the ultrasound he spent a good deal of time going through the images. He explained everything to me. My cats have had ultrasounds before, but the service here was definitely a notch above. My cat and I both felt comfortable with the doctor and his staff. The clinic was clean and patient appointments were spaced out. If your budget is tight you may want to ask for an estimate.
Nov 13, 2020 · Susan HarmonLast year, my cat had a diagnostic ultrasound with Dr Day. I highly recommend him and his clinic for the very best in imaging for your pet. He was so thorough and clearly explained how he came to his conclusions. We are very fortunate to have him in our community.
Jul 06, 2019 · Ellen J BrownComprehensive, exploratory ultrasound done on my dog here after our vet referred us to Dr. Day. We spoke with other veterinarians and outpatient ultrasound facilities in our search to be seen sooner than Dr. Days office could fit us in and when they learned of our appointment at his office, they all regarded him highly. It worked out that we kept our appointment with him and we were highly pleased with the services that we received from him and his staff. Professional, easy to talk to and the most thorough exam ever! I wish my own provider provided that much information on my own medical issues. If you're in need of an ultrasound I would highly recommend this vet
