Lakewood Veterinary Hospital

We had to see a vet while on vacation as my dog was experiencing some stomach issues. Lakewood was able to see us the day of and Dr. Jones was INCREDIBLE! She was so knowledgeable and informative and helped answer all our questions. I am fortunate to have found them while in North Carolina!

Our 7yo Goldendoodle, Fletcher, was unexpectedly diagnosed with bone cancer. Dr. Ann Prior surpassed outstanding in every aspect possible. I cannot begin to explain how abruptly he deteriorated & within 2 days, we made the difficult decision to put him to sleep. Dr. Prior was so patient, so compassionate, so informative & still very real with us so that we could quickly determine the best solution to help our boy. We were not just another family with a sick dog. We meant something to her & that is so comforting when you’re faced with such a devastating scenario. I’d like to thank everyone at Lakewood but I truly cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Prior. He’s the handsome one in the front.

My dog got sick while I was visiting family from Texas. They fit me and took care of my chihauhau. They were all super friendly. Offered water. They kept saying it would be a while before the dog got to me because they were fittng me in, but it wasn't long, a it all. My baby is good now. Thank you!

I have owned dogs for 25 years. This vet scheduled me weekly because “its against policy to have an 82 lb dog get more than one booster.. we do them weekly each appointment is another appointment” all i can say is the last booster three yes three vets confirmed one more booster would actually overdose my dog. The vets may be nice but their policies on making 7x visits for a dog that only needed one booster according to the three top competitors in area… you have been warned. My new vet said they have a known history, of milking patience as did all dog owners in my complex… and when the new vet confirmed i had follow up boosters and 3 vet’s confirmed no boosters were needed… ya find a more honest practice. ‘Red flag’ snl skit…

Overall, the experience my wife and I have had at Lakewood vet with our Labrador retriever, Norman, has been good. The only thing they can improve on is their prescription policy. We fill our flea/tick and heart worm prescriptions at Costco because we go there for gas every week so it’s easy just to run in and grab it and it’s also cheaper than Lakewood. For a reason unknown to us and our assumption is that they just want to make it more time consuming for the patient, they will not send an electronic prescription directly to Costco. This requires us to either go physically there to pick them up, or wait for them to arrive in the mail because they said they would mail it. Either way, we still have to physically drop off the hand written prescriptions at Costco, and then come back for them at a later time to pick them up so if we aren’t shopping that day, that means we need to make an extra trip inside. It seems absolutely absurd to us that this policy exists. Otherwise, like I said, great Vet for your pets.

I have only visited Lakewood about three times With my dog, Molly. However, today’s visit with Dr. Jones was absolutely incredible. She was so kind, knowledgeable, and informative. This was hands-down, the best experience that I’ve had at Lakewood thus far. I highly recommend taking your animal to Dr. Jones!! She will definitely be our go to Doctor moving forward.
