We took our 11 year old cat here for an abscess on her cheek. Allison complained she was skinny....she's always been that way and I explained this to her! She gave our cat a shot of a steroid and sent her home w an antibiotic. Less than 24 hours later my cat died. When we called to let the vet know, she stated that she was skinny and that way the cause of death. Prior to bringing the car there.thr.cat was fine. Eating and drinking fine. I'm convinced she killed our cat. But there's no way to prove it. We are all heartbroken about it. Pretty sure that we won't be bringing any other pet there....l

Understanding the environment and facilities of a pet hospital is crucial for pet owners seeking reliable care. While specific details about the physical infrastructure, such as the size of the clinic, the number of examination rooms, or the availability of specialized equipment (like on-site laboratories or imaging technology), are not explicitly provided in the given information, it is common for a standard pet hospital to maintain a clean and organized environment conducive to the comfort and safety of animals. These facilities typically include waiting areas designed to minimize stress for pets, private examination rooms for consultations and minor procedures, and potentially surgical suites for more complex interventions. Depending on the scope of services offered, a pet hospital might also have separate areas for housing recovering animals or those requiring overnight stays.

The core of any pet hospital lies in the services it provides. Based on the limited information available, we know that Lake Placid Animal Hospital, under the care of Alison Flanigan DVM, offers consultations and treatments for various pet health issues. In the provided customer reviews, a specific instance mentions the treatment of an abscess in an 11-year-old cat. This suggests that the hospital provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for common ailments. Veterinarians in such settings typically offer a range of services, which may include:

  • Routine check-ups and wellness examinations to ensure preventative care and early detection of potential health problems.
  • Vaccinations to protect pets against common and potentially life-threatening diseases.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, injuries, and infections, which can range from minor conditions to more complex medical issues.
  • Surgical procedures, which can include routine surgeries like spaying and neutering, as well as more specialized surgeries depending on the veterinarian's expertise and the hospital's facilities.
  • Dental care, including teeth cleaning, extractions, and treatment of dental diseases.
  • Parasite prevention and control, including measures against fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other internal and external parasites.
  • Nutritional counseling to help pet owners make informed decisions about their pet's diet.
  • Emergency care services, although it is not explicitly stated whether Lake Placid Animal Hospital offers 24/7 emergency services or has specific protocols for urgent situations.
  • Diagnostic services, which may include blood tests, urine analysis, X-rays, and other imaging techniques to aid in accurate diagnosis.

The features of a veterinary care provider often set it apart and contribute to the overall experience of pet owners. While the provided information does not highlight specific unique features of Lake Placid Animal Hospital, some common features that pet owners look for in a veterinary practice include:

  • Experienced and compassionate veterinary staff dedicated to animal welfare.
  • A commitment to clear communication and patient education, ensuring that pet owners understand their pet's condition and treatment options.
  • Modern medical equipment and facilities to provide high-quality care.
  • A comfortable and stress-free environment for pets.
  • Convenient appointment scheduling and efficient service.
  • Affordable and transparent pricing for services.
  • A strong reputation within the local community based on positive outcomes and client satisfaction.

However, it is crucial to address the significant negative feedback present in the provided customer reviews. Both reviews recount a similar, deeply concerning experience involving the death of an 11-year-old cat shortly after being treated for an abscess. The reviewers express strong feelings of negligence and attribute the cat's death to the treatment received, specifically mentioning a steroid injection and the veterinarian's assessment of the cat being "skinny" despite the owners' explanation of the cat's normal physique. These reviews paint a starkly negative picture and raise serious concerns about the quality of care provided in this particular instance. It is important for potential clients to be aware of this feedback when considering Lake Placid Animal Hospital for their pet's care.

Regarding promotional information, there is no specific promotional content provided in the given data. Typically, a pet hospital might engage in promotional activities such as offering discounts on initial consultations, vaccination packages, or seasonal promotions for specific services like dental cleaning. They might also participate in local community events or collaborate with pet-related businesses to raise awareness about their services. Without any such information provided, we cannot comment on any ongoing promotions at Lake Placid Animal Hospital.

In conclusion, Lake Placid Animal Hospital, led by Flanigan Alison DVM, is listed as a Pet Hospital in Lake Placid, NY, offering veterinary care services. While the exact range of services, the specifics of the environment, and any unique features are not detailed in the provided information, standard pet hospitals typically offer a variety of medical, surgical, and preventative care for animals. However, the strong negative feedback from two customers regarding a critical outcome warrants serious consideration for potential clients. It is advisable for individuals seeking veterinary care to conduct further research, including seeking additional reviews and potentially contacting the hospital directly to inquire about their services, protocols, and to address any concerns arising from the feedback provided.

It is important to approach online reviews with a balanced perspective, recognizing that individual experiences can vary. However, the consistency and severity of the negative feedback provided in this case are noteworthy and should be taken into account alongside any other information gathered about Lake Placid Animal Hospital.

Prospective clients may wish to inquire about the veterinarian's qualifications, experience, and areas of specialization. Understanding the hospital's policies on emergency care, appointment scheduling, and payment options can also be beneficial. Visiting the facility, if possible, can provide a firsthand impression of the environment and the staff's interaction with animals. Ultimately, choosing a veterinary care provider is a significant decision that should be based on thorough research and a sense of trust in the chosen practice.

Given the conflicting information – the basic listing of a pet hospital versus the serious negative experiences reported – it is crucial for local users to exercise caution and diligence in their decision-making process. Seeking second opinions or exploring alternative veterinary care providers in the Lake Placid area might be a prudent step to ensure the health and safety of their pets.

Miss Alison Flanigan went against my consent and did medical procedures on my cat after I already said no. My cat had his 3 year rabies vaccination last year, I mistakenly left the certificate at home, and told them they could contact the vet who did the vaccine he was ALREADY vaccinated for. Alison charged me for the procedures, after I expressed what she did was wrong she told me I did not have to pay. I told her it wasn’t about the money, it was about the illegal things she just did. She then told me I can not have the 3 year rabies certificate because she did not like I defended myself against her malpractice. If my cat absolutely needed the proof of the vaccine, I should have been told and I could have rescheduled the appointment and have the appropriate documentation. I signed no paper work (which is weird because every vet i’ve been to has you sign forms) and I was not told what kind of procedures would be done to my cat before they were preformed. I then called back, and Alison Flanigan told her receptionist to tell me I now can’t have the certificate without paying. that is 100 percent EXTORTION. I have TWO bills, one that proves she gave him the vaccine, and another where she took the vaccine off, and now is trying to cover up her horrible mistake. She was unprofessional from the beginning and i brushed it off, how ever, I could not sit there and pretend what she did and is doing is right. and others need to know about this.
