I really hate leaving bad reviews, but last night was beyond frustrating. We brought our dog in at 9:30 PM after he injured his leg falling off the bed. Once we got there, he was taken in about 20 minutes later, which was fine. At this time, there was only couple waiting. But then the hours started passing. Pets who came in after us were being seen, discharged, and sent home, and we still hadn’t heard a single thing about our dog, Frankie. At around 1 AM, more than 3 hours later, we asked for an update. The receptionist said she’d check and came back to say Frankie hadn’t even been looked at yet. What? She said they were going in order, but we had already seen at least 5–8 pets come and go who got there after us. So what order? We were told he was “next,” but still more people were helped while we sat there with no updates. No one told us to go home and call when he’d be seen, like they did with others. By 3 AM, still nothing. We asked again, and were told again they’d check. Another 15 minutes went by. Frankie still hadn’t been seen. He had likely been sitting in a crate for almost 5 hours. That’s not okay. The lack of communication was awful. We were completely left in the dark. Eventually, we just took him home and had to move our other dog’s appointment to get Frankie seen earlier somewhere else. I get that emergency clinics can get hectic, but this was just terrible. Five hours with zero updates or care? Do better, LAASER. Pet parents pay a pretty penny for their fur babies to get the care they need. I would’ve given this experience zero stars if I could. The only reason it gets one is because, one, there is no option, and two, we didn’t have to pay for the 5-hour wait he was inside. After all, no one actually did anything for our dog.

May 12, 2025 · Andrea (Andy)Obviously, you never want to be bringing your little furball to the ER in the middle of the night, but I'm glad that LAASER was the closest option on my vet's recommendation list. Literally every person there exuded empathy and compassion for every step that all of us in the waiting room were going through. We ended up spending several days there and, in the end, my little girl didn't make it, but that supportive and caring energy was there throughout. Even when I was making maybe not the best decisions due to cost concerns, they heard me and where I was coming from, understood that I would work better if they could engage me with the actual science going on, and gave me the full rundown to help me make the tough decisions I needed to. Yes, veterinary ER work is expensive and scary, but I don't think I could have had a better experience, given the horrible circumstances.

After x-rays and ultrasounds, it was apparent that my dog had eaten foreign bodies, and he had a blocked small intestine and blocked stomach. He ended up having surgery and they removed two big pieces of plastic. He is now fully recovered. Although I never met the vet, because it is an emergency hospital, and they have so much going on. But they have many vets that work for different specialities. I could just tell you that my dog came home super clean, cleaner than he’s ever been before. His incision healed up beautifully. When we come in for a follow up visit, the staff and everyone treats my dog really well. I think this place doesn’t have better reviews because many people come in with critical injuries for their dogs, in an emergency basis, and even with the best vets and technicians,this type of veterinarian hospital is going to have more complications and deaths, just due to the nature of being an emergency facility. But the facility is super clean, you could tell they have modern equipment, and every time I call or come in, everyone has been very nice. While he was healing, they let me come in and visit him. He wasn’t eating any of the canned food, cause he’s a spoiled Bulldog and he has never eaten a commercial diet. They even let me bring him in n out and other food to get his appetite going 👅

The staff are incredible and loving and concerned, and the docs are incredible, informative, competent, empathetic, and they understand and care about families’ anxieties. Totally first-rate in all aspects, and I regret I could give only 5 stars!
Dec 12, 2024 · Michael KennedyDon’t bring your pets here I brought my cat Thea to LAASER for a scheduled MRI and dropped her off at 7:30 a.m., expecting the procedure to be completed that morning. I was charged the entire estimate of $5,531.16 upfront, which included services like a spinal fluid collection that hadn’t even been performed yet. Throughout the day, I received no proactive communication. I had to keep calling for updates. At 1:00 p.m., I was told the MRI hadn’t started yet. At 3:40 p.m., a technician told me the MRI had just finished and my cat was recovering from anesthesia. But when I finally spoke to the vet at 5:30 p.m. — over 8 hours later — he said she was still undergoing the MRI at 3:30 p.m. That level of confusion is unacceptable. When I asked why there was such a long delay, the manager told me it was because the doctor had emergency cases earlier in the day. This made it very clear that the clinic cannot effectively manage scheduled appointments alongside emergencies. It became a “he said, she said” situation between staff, with no consistency in what I was told. I was also promised a call from the vet before they proceeded with any additional procedures, like the spinal tap — that call didn’t come until much later. Meanwhile, I had already been charged for everything. For a specialty clinic, the lack of transparency, disorganization, and miscommunication made this experience incredibly frustrating. I lost confidence in the care my cat was receiving. If you’re trusting this facility with your pet’s health, be prepared to follow up constantly and double-check everything they tell you. By the way, my cat smells like pee when I picked her up. I have already filed a formal complaint with the California Veterinary Medical Board. Don’t bring your pets here.
