Be careful with this clinic. SPECIAL DR SHELLY MC DANIEL .My one year old mare was sick and I called them to come to my house to see it. The vet arrived and just looked at it and checked its breathing and said that it was best to put it to sleep because according to her it was suffering and without my consent she gave it the injection killing my mare. Then she reported it as having rabies and the county people did the test and it wasn't rabies. They killed my mare without examining it or trying to see what it had. Plus the charge was high. Be careful with them.

Welcome to Keswick Equine Clinic
Welcome to Keswick Equine Clinic, a Pet Hospital dedicated to providing veterinary services for horses, located at 201 Taylor Ave, Gordonsville, VA 22942, USA. You can reach us at (540) 832-3030 or via our mobile number, +1 540-832-3030, to inquire about our equine care services. Based on the contrasting feedback from our clients, we aim to present an objective overview of our clinic, highlighting both positive and negative experiences to provide a balanced perspective for local users.
Regarding the environment, one review praises the team, including Dr. Kramer, as "organized, knowledgeable, and compassionate." This suggests a professional and caring atmosphere where clients feel their horses are in capable hands. The appreciation for their kindness towards a shy rescue horse also points to a patient and understanding approach by the staff. However, another review presents a starkly different experience, detailing a home visit where a mare was allegedly euthanized without a thorough examination or the owner's explicit consent, and subsequently, a rabies diagnosis was proven incorrect. This feedback raises concerns about the thoroughness of examinations and the communication with clients in certain situations. Potential clients may find that the environment and approach can vary depending on the specific veterinarian and circumstances.
The services offered at Keswick Equine Clinic, based on the reviews, include on-farm visits for sick horses, as indicated in the negative review. They also provide Pre-Purchase Exams (PPEs), although not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, it is a common service offered by equine clinics. The positive review highlights trust in the care provided by Dr. Kramer and the team, suggesting a range of general equine veterinary services such as wellness checks, treatment for illnesses, and potentially more specialized care. The mention of Dr. Kramer's knowledge and the team's organization implies a comprehensive approach to equine health. However, the negative review raises serious questions about the protocol followed during at-home visits and the decision-making process for euthanasia in at least one instance. Potential service aspects may include mobile veterinary care and in-clinic examinations and treatments, though the specifics would need to be confirmed directly with the clinic.
Features of Keswick Equine Clinic, as perceived through the customer feedback, include having knowledgeable and compassionate staff, particularly Dr. Kramer and the team, who are appreciated for their kindness towards animals, including those with sensitivities. The clinic is also described as organized. However, a significant concern raised in another review is the alleged lack of thorough examination and premature euthanasia of a horse by a specific veterinarian, Dr. Shelly McDaniel, along with a high charge for the service. This contradictory feedback suggests that while some clients have had very positive experiences with certain members of the team, others have had deeply troubling encounters. It is important for potential clients to be aware of these differing perspectives.
There is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. However, the positive testimonial from a client who trusts Dr. Kramer and the team with their horses and appreciates their care for a rescue horse, as well as their affinity for Morgans, serves as a form of positive endorsement. Conversely, the negative review acts as a cautionary note. Local users will need to weigh these contrasting experiences when considering Keswick Equine Clinic for their equine veterinary needs.
For local users in Gordonsville, VA, and the surrounding areas seeking equine veterinary care, Keswick Equine Clinic offers services both on-site and potentially at your farm. While one client expresses strong trust and satisfaction with Dr. Kramer and the team's organized, knowledgeable, and compassionate approach, another recounts a deeply negative experience with Dr. Shelly McDaniel. We encourage you to consider both perspectives when making your decision. If you value a team known for their kindness and knowledge, particularly towards horses with specific needs, Keswick Equine Clinic under the care of Dr. Kramer may be a good fit. However, it would be prudent to discuss your specific concerns and expectations with the clinic directly when you contact them at (540) 832-3030.
To gain a clearer understanding of the current team, their respective areas of expertise, and the clinic's protocols for on-farm visits and euthanasia decisions, we recommend contacting Keswick Equine Clinic directly. It would also be beneficial to inquire about their examination procedures and client communication practices. Understanding the clinic's approach to different situations will help you determine if their services align with your expectations for your equine companions.
In conclusion, Keswick Equine Clinic in Gordonsville, VA, is a Pet Hospital specializing in equine veterinary care. Reviews present contrasting experiences, with one client highly recommending Dr. Kramer and the team for their organization, knowledge, and compassion, while another details a very negative outcome involving Dr. Shelly McDaniel. Potential clients should consider these differing viewpoints when evaluating the clinic for their equine veterinary needs. We encourage you to contact the clinic directly to discuss your specific requirements and concerns.

Apr 24, 2025 · Olga MirandaI trust the care of my horses to Dr Kramer and the team at Keswick. They are organized, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I really appreciate how kind they are to my rescue horse, who is shy of people. I also appreciate that they know and like Morgans (because Morgans are the BEST). I know I’m in good hands with Dr Kramer and the whole team.
Jul 02, 2024 · Crozet VirginiaDr. Blythe Jones is an extremely intuitive veterinarian and always offers her very best to her clients. She is always thinking of the best interest of the horse while also helping clients through difficult decisions. A top notch Dr. and human.
Sep 20, 2023 · Christopher JonesI took a horse to this clinic as a favor for a neighbor when her truck broke down. She needed a health certificate to take her horse to Kentucky, the horse was seen by Dr. Shelly Mc Daniel's. Mrs Daniel's took the horses temp and it registered at 101.3 the last time she took it. The horse had no signs of swollen lymp nodes or any nasal discharge at all. This vet failed the horse even though by state law this horse passed and was not running a temp at all! She then said the horse would need a full blood panel before she would issue anything. Which is not required at all and not what the client was asking for. BEWARE USING THEM NOT TRUSTWORTHY AT ALL. ANY VET THAT LIES IS NOT A FRIEND OF YOUR PRECIOUS EQUINES....
