Dr. Rae took amazing care of my puppy, Birdie, when I brought her into CTVSEH for inappetence and lethargy. He was open and honest with me about treatment options and took the time to thoroughly explain what the best course of action would be. I felt comfortable leaving Birdie in his care overnight and felt especially comforted that he took the time to personally discuss her health with me upon discharge, even though the clinic was especially busy at the time, and he even checked in on her via phone call a few days later. Birdie is doing much better now and I am very appreciative of Dr. Rae for being so patient and caring during what was a very stressful time for me. Thank you!

I’m writing this review because of the immoral treatment of my pet and myself, and others need to know before coming to this veterinarian. My pet was being treated for bladder problems and has serious anxiety issues. At first Dr. Tawney was treating him, not Dr. Rae, and she was kind and informative. She called me several times to keep me appraised of my cat’s recovery. On the day I was meant to pick him up however, Dr. Rae was on shift instead. I never got the call to inform me if I could come, and called multiple times throughout the day. Keep in mind that my cat has extreme anxiety issues and is petrified of the vet. On the phone I could constantly hear loud people and animals in the background. Each time the technician told me he was busy. When I asked the technician to check on my cat, she misread his chart telling me his catheter was still in, that they’d be treating him for another 24 hours and that he had stopped eating. I was confused of course, because this was not the plan of treatment and he was doing fine the night before when I spoke with the other vet, Dr Tawney. When I questioned this I was told the vet, Dr. Rae would call. He never did. Hours later I tried AGAIN, and the technician informed me that the chart had been misread, that the catheter had been taken out the night before (which means she didn’t even look at him when asked to check, or she would’ve clearly seen it had been removed). I was told to come get him at 5:30pm Wednesday (I dropped him off Monday two days prior at 1:00am) and when I arrived I saw additional charges for the day of hospitalization that had needlessly occurred (with NO treatment) because of the error reading the chart. I called to question this. I had been informed by the technician earlier that day that there was a hospitalization fee every twelve hours. There were six hospitalization fees on my receipt... then the technician tried to tell me “I think we do the fees every EIGHT hours” and I said “that’s not what I was informed hours ago, can you check with your supervisor?” Then she told me that “if you’ve been charged every twelve hours, your cat has been here five days.” FIVE DAYS? I wasn’t even sure she knew which cat was mine at this point, but was told “You can dispute these charges, but you’ll have to pay them before we return your cat.” This is extortion. You sign anything they ask when the pet you love is in trouble, and they can and WILL charge you whatever they want. This is a last-resort mismanaged pet hospital. Do not go here if you can GO ANYWHERE ELSE.
