Never had an issue with this vet for my horses. They have treated my horses for many things over the years. Dr. Kappas and Dr. Johnson (not in equine anymore) are the top recommendations I have for vets. However, today we had a clinic for our yearly coggins clinic and I was very surprised to hear I was charged an exam on my horses. My new horse yes I understand! For my other horses that have years of veterinary work and tests they still charged an exam fee. Everything they had said about the exams on the horses which they have years of medical files on, the exams pointed out what chronic issue the horse already has which is something that’s not ever going away. My other horse and nothing wrong with her. I don’t agree that we should have to pay an exam fee for horses that have been to the vet many times for different exams and treatments every year. I don’t hold out on any care for my horses but if it doesn’t make sense and im not aware of the charge I get anal about my horses. It was y fault for not being present cause I had to work but my sister did try to stop them from doing the exams, which she was dismissed. I am very upset about this and has left me in a position that I don’t like to be in. I have always liked this vet and referred a lot of people and there horses here.

Janesville Animal Medical Center Introduce
Janesville Animal Medical Center, located in Milton, Wisconsin, has been serving the local community as a Pet Hospital, providing veterinary care for a variety of animals, including horses and companion animals. Situated at 5021 Wright Ct, Milton, WI 53563, the clinic can be reached at (608) 868-1761 or +1 608-868-1761. Over the years, the center has reportedly treated horses for various medical needs, with some clients specifically recommending Dr. Kappas and the former equine veterinarian, Dr. Johnson, for their expertise in equine care.
According to one customer who has brought their horses to Janesville Animal Medical Center for many years, they have generally had positive experiences with the veterinary care provided for their equine companions. This long-term client specifically mentioned Dr. Kappas and the now non-equine Dr. Johnson as top recommendations for veterinary services. They noted having their horses treated for numerous health issues over the years, suggesting a history of utilizing the clinic's services for their equine needs.
However, the same long-term client also raised a significant concern regarding a recent experience during a yearly Coggins clinic. They expressed surprise and dissatisfaction at being charged an examination fee for horses with extensive medical histories at the clinic. While they understood the examination fee for a new horse, they questioned the necessity of an exam fee for their other horses, for which the clinic already possessed years of medical records and documented chronic issues. The client reported that the examination findings reiterated existing chronic conditions, which were not expected to resolve. They also mentioned that one of their horses presented with no apparent health issues, further questioning the examination fee for that animal. This client, while stating they do not withhold care for their horses, expressed feeling uneasy about the unexpected charge, especially as they were unable to be present during the clinic due to work commitments, and their sister's attempt to prevent the exams was reportedly dismissed.
Another review echoed the sentiment of the first, with the author stating they agreed with the previous reviewer, indicating a potential pattern of concern regarding billing practices or communication.
In contrast to the experiences with equine care, several concerning reviews detail negative experiences related to companion animal care and customer service at Janesville Animal Medical Center. One review recounts an incident where the office staff allegedly mistreated the client and mishandled an appointment, subsequently blaming the client for the error. This suggests potential issues with administrative processes and customer relations within the clinic.
Another particularly distressing and detailed review describes a series of negative experiences concerning the care of a cat adopted by the reviewer. The account alleges that the clinic's office staff provided inaccurate information regarding an appointment cancellation, leading to delays in necessary treatment. The review further claims that when the error was pointed out, the staff became rude and insisted on upfront payment for all services, despite the alleged fault of the clinic. This prompted the pet owners to seek care elsewhere.
The subsequent narrative in the same review outlines a series of unfortunate events and allegations of misdiagnosis and delayed treatment that the reviewer believes ultimately contributed to their cat's premature death from an aggressive sarcoma. The reviewer claims that a competing veterinarian suggested the mass was cosmetic and elective, leading to further delays exacerbated by the pandemic. Years later, surgery at a facility owning Janesville Animal Medical Center allegedly proceeded without requested X-rays, and the removed mass, along with the initial biopsy, confirmed the aggressive sarcoma. The reviewer expresses profound grief and blames the clinic for the delayed diagnosis and lack of appropriate initial care.
Furthermore, the same reviewer recounts negative feedback from other individuals in the local animal community regarding the treatment of pet owners by a specific female staff member at the clinic. The review also mentions a negative experience at a competing clinic, highlighting a broader concern with veterinary care in the area from this individual's perspective.
Adding to the negative portrayal, the reviewer alleges that after the appointment mishap, Janesville Animal Medical Center discontinued mobile care services without notice, a service they had reportedly provided previously. The reviewer claims that when they attempted to schedule mobile care, they were falsely told it had never been offered. The reviewer states they had utilized this service with a female doctor and two technicians and even possess a receipt. The review further notes a broader trend of local doctors reducing call-in services and redirecting patients to a specific VCA location, which also later reduced hours, limiting emergency care options in the south-central region.
The reviewer concludes with strong accusations of unethical behavior and blames the clinic for the loss of their cat, citing the dismissive and rude behavior of a specific female staff member. The update to the review mentions receiving a routine vaccine reminder card for the deceased cat 1.5 weeks after submitting the negative feedback, which the reviewer interprets as insensitive and indicative of the clinic's overall demeanor.
Considering the information available, Janesville Animal Medical Center has provided veterinary care for the community, including equine services where some clients have expressed satisfaction with specific veterinarians. However, multiple reviews raise significant concerns regarding billing practices, customer service, administrative issues, and the quality of care for companion animals, with one review alleging a severe case of misdiagnosis and neglect with tragic consequences. Potential local users should carefully consider all available information and perhaps seek further testimonials or clarification before entrusting their pets' care to this facility.
At this time, no specific promotional information for Janesville Animal Medical Center is available in the provided text. For information regarding any potential promotions or special offers, interested individuals are advised to contact the clinic directly at (608) 868-1761 or +1 608-868-1761.

Mar 24, 2025 · Emily KuschelI agree with Lana and don't know her. Staff in office mistreated us and totally messed up an appointment, then blamed us when it was their doing. We adopted a gorgeous orange long hair cat that came in from NY with two others. They were apparently seized from a supposed bad owner with bad quality of life. The orange long hair had a bump this clinic biopsied and results came back normal reacting to foreign. Appointment was made to remove and this clinics office staff made up a story that we canceled last minute. When actually what happened was they told us if appointment time didn't work to call back and reschedule asap. Which we did that same day on Friday, week prior. Following week, original appointment time, they behaved as if no one called prior. When explained why is a new appointment on schedule for future then? There was a couple pieces of key evidence demonstrating error on their part . When pointed out they became extremely rude and said clinic would charge everything up front. Surgical cost, follow up, everything. Even though it was technically their fault. We both have excellent credit, mind you. Wife is also a physician locally. We elected to scramble and find help elsewhere. Another doctor at a competitor in Janesville, also indicated mass cosmetic and surgery elective. Then a pandemic springs. Then multiple resurgence of same, plus kennel cough and a few other conditions well documented in noted tabloids. No one would help our cat. Years later, we go to facility that owns this clinic for surgery. They remove, without xray first, which was specifically requested multiple times, by owner. It, along with biopsy of mass removal, indicated aggressive sarcoma. Our baby suffered badly and died when all of this could have been addressed at rudimentary stages, while a kitten at this facility. Upon performing trap, neuter and release of dozens of stray, or abandoned cats last year, I had no trouble learning of others in this animal community, who also shared same feelings about a female at this office mistreating pet owners. Same at a competitor further in town, which also messed up our cat treatment. When timing couldn't have been anymore key when fighting disease. Especially of this nature. Initially when this facility screwed up our cats appointment, blame-shifted and gaslighted us, it also yanked mobile care they were providing year prior. Without notice. We learned of this when attempting to schedule and they lied claiming it was never offered before. A female doctor and two female techs came to our place and we have a receipt. These people denied ever performing, because I theorize they wanted to reduce work weight loads and think of selves. All local doctors also abruptly stopped call in Janesville and redirected everyone to VCA next to new hospital. Who also would a year later largely reduce hours leaving residents in south central no choice but to travel to Rockford or Madison. And believe me that matters, more than you know. Also, large differences in emergency care between each. This is violation of ethics and local leaders do nothing but think of selves. My cat died way too young because of you and was literally the glue in our home holding everything together. Extremely unique personality, full of joy and life. She did things no cat does. I will never forget what this clinic did and cost us our baby at age of seven. I don't care what your response. It is your fault and that woman in office there, who tried to blame others and was dismissive and short can get lost. You shouldn't be in animal care and are a monster. Update: 1.5 weeks after submitting this review we received a reminder card in mail for same cats updated vaccine deadline approaching. First correspondence of any kind from this office since bad experience years back. More or less to rub in our faces the loss. Prime example of the demeanor in this facility.
