Dr. Lindstrom is a wonderful avian vet and kind soul. He has helped me with multiple rescue birds over the years, and he's the reason one bird is still living. He's brilliant, kind and compassionate. He also takes the time to explain things thorougly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because his assistant isn't very nice and she's overbearing. I dread anytime I have to speak with her. In fact, she was the reason I took my birds to another avian vet. My other concern is their pricing. Due to rising costs of veterinary bills and food, I've stopped taking in birds in need because I can no longer afford to care for and vet them. Volunteer workers, fosters and adopters of multiple birds could really use a small break, and that includes all avian vets.

Welcome to Jamie Lindstrom DVM
Jamie Lindstrom DVM, located at 36400 Center Ridge Rd, North Ridgeville, OH 44039, USA, is a distinguished veterinary professional within the "Pet Hospital" category, renowned for his highly specialized expertise in **avian and exotic pet medicine**. While part of a larger practice, likely Animal Clinic of Northview, Dr. Lindstrom stands out as a unique and invaluable resource for owners of birds, reptiles, and other less common pets. His practice fills a critical niche, offering advanced care that often requires specific knowledge and experience beyond what a general practice typically provides. His reputation is built on a foundation of deep understanding, compassion, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of his unique patient population.
The environment at a clinic housing a specialist like Dr. Lindstrom is typically structured to support advanced diagnostics and treatments for a diverse range of animals. While reviews specifically highlight Dr. Lindstrom's individual qualities, the broader setting would be that of a professional veterinary clinic, likely with dedicated areas or equipment for exotic animal handling. The atmosphere, when interacting with Dr. Lindstrom himself, is consistently described as **kind, compassionate, and understanding**. Clients feel that he takes the time to thoroughly explain complex medical issues, which is crucial when dealing with pets that have unique physiological needs and often subtle signs of illness. Despite potential concerns about other staff members or pricing, the core experience with Dr. Lindstrom is one of trust and expertise. The clinic would aim to provide a safe and appropriate environment for various species, from delicate birds to reptiles, ensuring their comfort and minimizing stress during visits.
Dr. Jamie Lindstrom's primary specialization lies in **avian and exotic animal veterinary care**. This means his services go far beyond what a typical general practice offers for dogs and cats. His unique skill set makes him a go-to veterinarian for owners of birds, reptiles, small mammals (like rabbits, ferrets, and pocket pets), and other exotic species. Key services would include:
Specialized Avian Medicine: This covers a vast array of bird species, from parrots and canaries to poultry. Services include routine wellness exams tailored to avian physiology, nutritional counseling, beak and nail trims, feather care, diagnostic testing for common bird diseases (e.g., Psittacosis, Pacheco's Disease), and treatment for respiratory, digestive, or reproductive issues specific to birds.
Reptile and Amphibian Care: Dr. Lindstrom offers expert care for snakes, lizards (like geckos, as mentioned by a client), turtles, tortoises, and amphibians. This includes wellness exams, husbandry advice (e.g., terrarium setup, lighting, heating, diet), parasite control, and treatment for conditions unique to reptiles, such as metabolic bone disease, shell rot, or respiratory infections.
Exotic Mammal Medicine: Services extend to small mammals like rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rats. This involves preventative care, dental care (which is often critical for rabbits and rodents), and treatment for common diseases in these species.
Diagnostic Services: Given the often subtle signs of illness in exotic pets, specialized diagnostics are crucial. This would include in-house laboratory testing (blood work, cultures, cytology), advanced imaging (digital X-rays), and potentially endoscopy for minimally invasive internal examinations.
Surgical Procedures: Dr. Lindstrom would perform specialized surgeries appropriate for exotic animals, which require precise techniques and equipment. This could include soft tissue surgeries for tumors, foreign body removal, or reproductive issues.
Preventative Care and Husbandry Counseling: A significant part of exotic pet care involves proper husbandry. Dr. Lindstrom provides comprehensive guidance on diet, environment, and behavioral enrichment to prevent illness and promote overall well-being for these sensitive species.
His affiliations with organizations like the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV), Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, and Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians further underscore his deep commitment to these specific fields of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Jamie Lindstrom's most distinguishing features, as highlighted by numerous clients, are his **exceptional knowledge, kindness, and compassionate approach** towards his specialized patients. He is repeatedly described as a "wonderful avian vet and kind soul" and "brilliant, kind and compassionate." Clients particularly appreciate that "he takes the time to explain things thoroughly," which is invaluable when dealing with the complex needs of exotic pets. For many, he is the "only exotics vet I know of in my area," making his presence essential. His ability to help "multiple rescue birds over the years" and the testament that "he's the reason one bird is still living" speak volumes about his clinical skill and dedication to even the most challenging cases. The privilege felt by a client having him close by for their "disabled Geckos care" further exemplifies his unique and impactful role in the community. While some feedback points to concerns about an assistant's demeanor and the pricing, the consistent and overwhelming praise for Dr. Lindstrom himself underscores his profound positive impact on the lives of exotic pets and their owners. His willingness to provide thorough explanations and his deep understanding of avian and exotic animal health make him an invaluable resource.

Jun 15, 2024 · aneta wlodykaI literally can not tell you just how much trust I put in Dr. Lindstrom. Another vet just kept taking my money and didn't run tests to find out what was going on. Sadly, I still likely would have lost my bird, but he suffered. Dr. Lindstrom actually cares and really listens. He really wants to help. Now my other bird is in good hands. Every living thing has a shelf life, but I know if something should happen, my other bird won't suffer. This is a doctor who really cares.
