Another significant aspect of our practice is our ability to work effectively with pets who may have anxiety or behavioral challenges during veterinary visits. At Iowa Veterinary Wellness Center, the staff demonstrated remarkable patience and skill in managing this dog. They listened attentively to the owner's concerns, respected the dog's body language, and followed the owner's directions. While the dog was muzzled for safety, the staff's approach minimized stress, and the dog tolerated a blood draw with minimal effort – an unprecedented experience for this particular pet. The fact that the dog took treats before and after the visit and left with a wagging tail speaks volumes about the positive and calm environment created by our team. Mar 05, 2025 · Judith MullenI brought my 3 working dogs in for exams, vaccines and health issue checks. My first 2 are great with everyone and the staff did great with listening to my concerns and answering all my questions. Eris and D liked the attention as well even if they got a poke. My other dog I was expecting lots of reactions and a pretty stressful visit as they usually are with previous vets. She was tail wagging walking in with minimal growling. Staff did great about ignoring her and following my direction when reading her body language. She was muzzled for everyone’s safety but took minimal effort to vet hold her for a blood draw which is unheard of for her. She took treats before and after her visit and was tail wagging walking out. It was probably the best vet experience she’s ever had and I can’t imagine taking her anywhere else after having such a positive experience here. We love IVWC and recommend to everyone!
Mar 05, 2025 · Katie GayI'm so happy with the care and results from Iowa Veterinary Wellness Clinic! After just one acupuncture session, my cat, Apricot Jelly, showed some fantastic improvements, and they continue to improve as we continue his treatment. He had been dealing with some challenging symptoms from Feline Idiopathic Cystitis, even after surgery and despite continuous pain medication, like leaking urine, a sore tummy, and a weak urine stream. The leaking has completely stopped, he doesn't appear to be in as much pain, and he's become super social! He used to hide when people came over, but now he loves to cuddle with anyone who visits. The staff has been so kind and patient. When Jelly didn't want to stay on the examination table, they all got down on the floor to make sure he felt comfortable during his physical and acupuncture treatment. I can't thank them enough for their caring and effective help. The acupuncture really has changed Apricot Jelly's quality of life for the better. Huge thanks to everyone at Iowa Veterinary Wellness Clinic!
Apr 03, 2025 · Alexandrea OlingerDr. Wilke is always so patient and loving with my Cavalier King Charles, Bodhi. She has cared for him for 4 years now; since his very first appointment as a puppy. The other staff of the clinic are friendly, warm, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable! They take the time and truly listen whenever we're there about a physical or behavioral change . Dr. Wilke is patient and loving in her handling of Bodhi. She takes her time, is completely hands on with him and will even get down on the floor with him if she needs to. She is always able to get to the root cause of the issue without tons of unnecessary and expensive tests. Dr. Wilke provides us natural and holistic treatment plans while minimizing costs and limiting pharmaceuticals. After 4 years, she hasnt missed the mark yet! Dr. Wilke is truly a gifted healer! Prompt appointment start times, never a long wait. The clinic is relaxing, clean, organized and well managed. I just cant say enough positive things about Dr. Wilke and her team at the IA Veterinary Wellness Center. Bodhi and I would never even THINK of going anywhere else. Top Notch service! Extraordinary and gifted Veterinarian! Thank You Dr. Wilke and Team!
Aug 23, 2024 · Kelley BurkheadAbsolutely love this place and everyone who works there! I drive approx. a half hour each way to bring my pets there. My GSD goes willingly inside, usually grabs a toy to play with. At my former vets office he would climb the windows trying to get out! I would drive hours each way just for that reaction! Going to the Vet is no longer a traumatic experience! My foster Great Dane, who was sedated and muzzled by her owner for vet visits no longer needs either done when she visits here! I would give 20 stars to this office!
