Oct 31, 2024 · Betsey ClarkThis clinic provided a very welcoming atmosphere when we first walked in the reception team being excited to meet our animals and helping us to a room immediately. The initial visit went well and the vet expressed concern that one of our cats had an early form of gingivitis but the other looked fine and since we got them from a shelter, they would test a fecal sample for worms. We were also told one cat had an allergy in which we must order a very expensive prescription food and the other has feline herpes which we just have to symptomatically treat forever. None of the medicine we were given really helped our animals. This lead to a follow up visit where we expressed new concerns as conditions worsened. We were taken to a room where there was hair everywhere when we walked in, the vet came in and completely blew us off on all out concerns. "This didn't help and we are nervous about this" "well just try the same medication for longer". We felt that nothing we said was getting heard and were also told that miraculously, in 13 days, our other cat also had developed severe gingivitis. We were told to start brushing our cats teeth FOUR TIMES A WEEK while also finding out that the fecal sample brought in on the initial visit was just thrown out and never tested. We have since gone to new vet and received a second opinion on all of these issues. 1. the allergy is definitely an allergy but we now have a much more achievable plan to attack it. 2. our cats do not have sever gingivitis and just a mild amount of inflammation (we believe HPVC has a connect to a dentist as we heard them tell another family the exact same thing about their Pitbull when checking out). 3. Our other cat most likely does not have herpes and in fact just has conjunctivitis. we were given new medicine and overall a better understanding and sense of hope for our animals. This could be an isolated experience but we left HPVC each time with a sense of dread and sadness as if there was no path forward.
