We had to put our baby down recently for medical reasons and it was absolutely the hardest thing we have ever had to do. But the doctor and staff here made it as pleasant as it possibly could be. It was a peaceful experience for our Fender to cross over. A few days after, we received a card with all the staffs handwritten condolences. I highly recommend this place for all your pets needs and want to thank each staff member for the beautiful card for myself and my family. This is our very silly, sweet baby Fender Theodore. You are missed everyday!

The clinic is incredible!! Friendly and affordable, the best of both worlds. Kim and the staff were so helpful and took care of all our needs. 5 stars all the way around

Marion County Humane Society Animal Clinic is a lifesaver for pet owners, especially in today’s economy! They are low-cost, BUT give high quality care. My 19 yr old daughter rescued 2 kittens over a 2 year period. We told her she would be responsible for their vet care. We ABSOLUTELY LOVE the ALL the staff, from the front desk, vet techs, and Veterinarians. They take the time to explain and educate my daughter about everything! They’re passionate, patient, caring, supportive, amazing and ABSOLUTELY love animals and their owners! I love that they take the time to make sure my daughter understands everything they’re doing as well as make sure my daughter understands how to administer meds, etc. I highly recommend MCHS Animal Clinic to anyone, especially those who have financial issues, love their pets, and want to be treated with dignity and respect just as their fur babies are!

Are they cheap? Yes! Staff seemed great. I got my dog neutered on a Wednesday. They said "call if you have any problems!" Well we did have problems....on a Saturday at 9am, when they are closed. Seems strange any vet clinic would not be open at least half day on Saturday. Ended up spending $200 at another clinic for complications that should have been addressed by the clinic that created the issues.

UPDATE: It took 4 days and 3 phone calls to finally receive my 305.00 refund for a surgery they canceled due to my asking for a receipt, a procedure estimate and a question about pathology. Eddie the Director refused to listen to my advice of giving all customers a deposit receipt outlining surgery costs, to keep down on time spent answering questions (and the phone), because customers don't have any paperwork to reference. He actually called it an attack and hung up on me. If you refuse to be accountable and responsible, the issues will never resolve themselves. Giving customers paperwork at the time of payment and scheduling helps make it comprehensive, saving his employees time. It was smart and sound advice. Plus 250.00 deposit is a big chunk of money to not have a detailed receipt for. ‐---‐--‐----------------------------------- I called the new low cost vet clinic just open for 3 or 4 months now and made an appointment for a mass removal on my newly adopted MCAS shelter dog. Merlin was advertised as healthy, but my regular vet said he needs a growth removed. I called a few days later and asked who my doctor would be and was told Dr Joy. I asked how long she has been a vet and was told they don't know. I received a call back the next day saying that Dr. Joy has been a vet for just 3 months, since the clinic opened. I asked they change my appointment to one with Dr Zimmerman who has been a vet for a long time. I showed up for that appointment and was told they had me down for the original time, different day. They made yet another appointment. I showed up and 3rd time was a charm. I enjoyed meeting Dr Zimmerman and she gave me recommendation for surgery. She quoted me a price of 500.00 for mass removal and 200.00 for sending it off for testing. I agreed. I paid 305.00 total for the surgery deposit of 250.00, and that day's appointment of 55.00. I got home and saw my receipt only showed 55.00 sick visit (even though my dog isn't sick, it should have been called an estimate visit). I received a receipt on my phone from Square which simply said Humane Society 55.00. So no receipt for the 250.00 deposit, plus no procedure estimate in writing. I called and asked a question about the procedure the following week and was told something different than what we had discussed, but it sounded correct and it was fine. I received 2 phone calls from Kim the director in which she was very rude and sarcastic. She ended up yelling over me and hung up on me. She canceled the surgery due to my wanting an estimate and receipt, and asking a question about pathology a few days prior. I asked her to refund the deposit for surgery, and she said she'd "send me a check in the mail". I asked her to refund it to my original form of payment, my credit card. She said she'd look into it. I said you need to process it today. As of now, my bank hasn't received any refund. What a terrible lack of professionalism. If you want shelter medicine practiced on your animal then this is the place to go. I now have to start over in finding affordable surgery for my sweet shelter dog who deserves organized and caring people to help him. Marion county really needs to do better. I realize the clinic is new but so many mistakes and mix ups, omissions and forgotten convos, create a lot of doubt about what goes on behind closed doors, or their ability to practice safe and thorough medicine. In spite of everything, I wish them luck getting organized so Marion county animals can get the vet care they deserve.
