Hoover Road Animal Hospital

Took my dog there because all my vets could not see my dog without a 2 week notice. I went to the Hoover Road Animal hospital and they saw us right away. Yes, we paid an emergency fee, but we got in right away. So worth the price to me. All the meds fixed him up right away, and we wr t on our trip without issue. The staff was helpful and friendly. Their office cat " Pat" is a sweet gentleman and kept me company! Cody says thanks and me too!

Took my male cat in to be neutered and when my wife returned to pick him up she was notified that he did not survive the surgery. I spoke to a friend who has worked at multiple veterinary clinics across nearly 40 years and was told that this happens very rarely with female spays... but she had never heard of a male cat not surviving this simple surgery.

It took me a year to be able to write this review. I took my long hair dachshunds to Hoover Road animal hospital for three or so years. My 12 year old dachshund needed a teeth cleaning and had bad teeth, I knew he would be having a couple teeth pulled. The vet did the blood test on Sammy, which is routine and he said Sammy’s calcium levels were elevated (I didn’t know what that really meant), but they moved forward with the cleaning anyway. What usually takes a few hours, took much longer. It was well after 6 that I took Sammy home. Half way through the day, the vet called me and said while the cleaning he noticed Sammy’s jam was broken, and asked me if I knew how. I didn’t. It was until a day or two later that the vet admitted he accidentally broke Sammy’s jaw during the cleaning. Sammy was NEVER the same. I eventually took Sammy back (regret that now) they did blood tests and found his calcium levels were extremely high. So they tested Sammy for cancer. Two weeks later I called about the results, and they said “oh no no one called you?”. Sammy had Parahyperthroidism, a cancer in his thyroid. We were terrified, and asked what our options are, the vet said Sammy is old and that we should just google it. Google it? We took Sammy to a different vet, who was very thorough and helped us through the process. Sammy ended up dying a few weeks later. While I don’t blame Hoover Road Animal Hospital for Sammy’s death, he took extra time away we could have spent with my best friend. I will never, ever, ever recommend this vet to anyone EVER. You took away my best friend who saved my life in more ways than one far too early. Shame on you all.

Dr on duty handled a very difficult day for us well and our beloved dog was mercifully euthanized without unneeded stress or pain. Being a sensitive time for the family we were treated well and never rushed or pushed by the DVM. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the woman working reception. She chided my mother because she was crying as we entered the building. She asked her to stop and not to begin until we were in a exam room. I can understand not wanting to disturb others, but she was clearly devastated and a rebuke wasn't going to help the situation. All other staff were very professional and aside from that one comment the woman at reception would have been recognized as perfectly professional. The fees were reasonable and the DVM also offered some insight on disease the dog possibly suffered further proving that our pet had no quality of life remaining. Thank you for putting our good friend to rest. I can find comfort in this loss by knowing our dog was treated in a humane and merciful manner. To the woman working reception: Please understand that some of us are more affected by the loss of a pet. I don't think you are a bad person, I only wish you'd handled that in some other way. Perhaps simply directing us to a room or offering a tissue.

We’ve been going to Hoover Road Animal Hospital for about 4 years now. They always took great care of my pit mix Cody! He lived till 17 years old! We had to put him down a couple months ago and got a new puppy. The new puppy Rosie, has had all kinds of parasites, UTI, crystals in urine etc. we were taking her here also until today, we just switched vets. Nothing negative against Hoover Road, the vet we switched to has long hours. They’re open much later 7 days a week. It’s very hard for us to make appointments during the day since our schedules changed. We’ve always been happy with the care our Cody received at Hoover Road. Good care, close and can usually get an appt quickly! I wouldn’t hesitate to go here.

On very short notice on a Friday afternoon they made room for me and my Girl Cinnamon. They were very professional compassionate and affordable and I recommend 💯
